  1. If you like the clean punch of the EBS gear (I do) - there's a Reidmar 750 in the For Sale section. A very worthy beast that stays clean way past annoying the guitarists, but has a drive section on board should you wish to add a hair of grit. Compressor and pre-shape for a wide range of tones.

I love it ! When I first got it out of the bag I thought the neck looked like a cricket bat with frets and would be straight back for sale but I put a set of chromes on it and haven't put it down since. Yes it probably would have been even better with Nordy's buy its fine. Can't wait to hear Doods review.

Sorry for the delay in that! I have the bass here, but I've been snowed under with other reviews and poor health. I'm really looking forward to doing this one, it's certainly going to look bangin' in glorious 4K! - It's only a shame that YouTube compresses the poop out of my original footage which looks even better!

I'll keep you all posted! I have some super nice gear lined up for upcoming reviews! I love this job SO much!!!!

I used to own a 5-string Overwater Original that according to Chris May was made in 1983. My other Overwater original 5-string which was my main bass for most of the 90s was made in 1985 or 86.

Absolutely there were non-mass produced 5 strings (and six - Anthony Jackson's 1975 Carl Thompson made Contrabass for example)) available before the Yamaha. The Overwater would have been a super nice bass as they are today, did you keep any pictures of it? :)

  4. The first commercially available (mass produced) five string came out in 1984. The Yamaha BB5000. Nathan East was seen everywhere with his white one and I think Pino used one too. I've always wanted one as they had a really close string spacing.

I’ve done something similar, split the signal with one Sansamp, run the parallel out into another Sansamp or Darkglass box, then blend together at the end with a blender pedal.

Same here, I used to use an MXR M80 with a Sansamp. blended together with an SFX Blender. Blending the two different flavours of drive worked nicely!

  6. Bergantino Audio HD112 Speaker Cabinets

    HD112 ‘High-Definition’ 1-12” & Tweeter Bass Guitar Loudspeaker

For Bergantino Audio it all starts with the High-Definition HD series of bass guitar speaker cabinets. The cabinetry on the HD series employs a precision tuned cabinet architecture and the enclosures are built with the finest 100% Baltic birch plywood available. The HD series are covered in traditional tolex for durability (no more carpet fuzz for your cat to claw) and they all employ a rigid black grille to protect the drivers.
The internal components used are extremely high quality and they are of Bergantino design. No ‘off-the-shelf ’ parts are used. Woofers have ceramic magnets w/ vented pole pieces and the low-end on this series of cabinets is full and round – they can handle high power output from your amplifier. The HD series have remained a favourite of finger style and pick players because of the tight-creamy low end found with these cabinets. Each of the HD series cabinets has a high intelligibility tweeter mated to the woofers through a custom designed phase-coherent crossover with a tweeter control. Bergantino HD series cabinets are not as heavy as some of the other cabinets available but will produce a more accurate, full-bodied and authentic representation of your bass guitar in live and studio settings.

Two very well-looked-after top-tier bass cabinets from a premier bass gear company. These have always been stored indoors in a smoke-free home.  Collection preferred and recommended. I'm not sure if I have boxes for both yet I will have to check, if however you wish to ship, I will let you arrange the collection and therefore your own insurance and tracking.

Payment via Bank Transfer. £440 EACH.

You've just reminded me of a wedding gig I played a few years ago where the venue set us up a table away from the main hall, 'for our comfort'. It was directly outside the toilets 🤮. At the start of the evening, it smelled like someone had gone crazy with the bleach blocks, the vapours actually made our eyes sore... in the first break, you could see all the p*ss seeping under the door and, by the time we'd finished, the smell of sick and excrement was so bad, we went and stood out in the torrential rain instead. What is it with men who simply can't aim? Seriously, how do they find it SO difficult? 🤢

Preferably not a bass specific pedal, cuz I have an aversion to that.

Going for a bass specific compressor for bass guitar is probably wise. Often, the circuitry is better equipped to deal with the kind of transients (and of course frequencies) that bass guitars deal out. That said, I've tried the odd guitar pedal with a blend on it and it was useful in certain situations.
