  1. Yes, absolutely my experience through owning a TB500 is as per dannybuoy’s advice. It’s a cracking rig with the 2x12s but the flat position on the amp makes no sense, which incidentally I find rather wonderful!

I’m not one for too much treble in my tone and love a big, beefy bass heavy tone but anything past 9 o’clock on the bass dial on the TB is excessively bassy.

  2. Couldn’t find an open thread so thought best I open a new one...

Bought an Epiphone Rumblekat off Steve.

great price, great condition. Agreed a meet part way between our locations. Taking into account the festive period and as we did the deal in New Year’s Day Steve was a pleasure to interact with. Great comms, nice and easy, good bloke.

    Buy with confidence, BCers.

  3. Thanks v much for this Richard and Tontee.

TBH I’m not sure on the speakers at this point as the guitarist has them in storage. So far as I know they are passive.

And thanks, yes, a mixer and an amp is needed.

I shall return once I have the info suggested above! Bass gear I’m fine with this stuff though, over my head!

    thanks again guys ??

  4. Hey all.

been a good long while since I’ve been in a band that needed a lockup, but my current band is now looking at going down this route.

Things have moved in a lot since the big old Peavey brick I had years ago...so...Any suggestions or recommendations for a decent quality mixing desk? Budget sub-£300 if at all possible. Got decent speakers so it’s just the board we need. Analogue preferably.  We don’t plan on mic’ing gear up so it’ll only be needed for 3 vocal mics and needs enough oomph to hold its power with a reasonably loud one guitar, bass and drums set up.

    Thanks in advance.

  5. If they still haven’t refunded you contact your card issuer. Whether credit card or debit card you have chargeback rights regardless; effectively your bank would contact the merchant’s bank under chargeback rules to obtain refund of the sum due to goods not being delivered.

    Hope that helps.

  6. More good stuff there dudes. Close to pulling the trigger on one of 3 or 4. Going to go with a cheaper option first I think. The Marshall looks interesting.
On the subject of (very) cheap and cheerful, anyone got any thoughts on the Belcat trem?

  7. Having owned a (modern) Ricky for a while I wouldn’t go B-D on one personally as tonally I don’t find they have enough resonance or beef at the low end. Just my opinion though but Ricky’s are all about the bite, mids and highs for me.
I string both my Precisions B-D though. Wouldn’t have it any other way and find it works beautifully for heavy rock, stoner and doom.

  8. The awesomeness of Ashdown customer service right there.

We did have a batch of fans that were noisier than we would have liked it was caught quickly but there are a few out there, if it's troublesome we would be happy to swap the fan out for a quieter one for you. You are free to pop in and we can sort whilst you wait or if you want to pop it in the post we can sort and ship back to you. Just let me know. Cheers.

  9. Hey all. Currently in the throes of building my first pedalboard having decided to dip my toes in after 25 years of playing with very few effects. Anyway, I could do with some recommendations for a decent Trem pedal. Not particularly got a budget as such but Unsure how much I'll use it, so if there's a decent budget option, that could work in the first instance!

    Cheers

  10. Drove to Will's from Birmingham and bought his lurvely Orange Terror Bass combo. Lovely guy, great comms, accurate description of gear in a great condition and nice and easy transaction. A good 'un for sure!

  11. Bloody autocorrect!

Also, my take on the CEO and cost thing.

Re: John Hall. Doesn't do a lot to represent the brand in the best of lights but to be honest that wouldn't affect my decision on whether to buy or not.

Value for money - based on my experience of over a decade mine was well worth the grand I paid, but the £2k plus now? Not a chance. For me, I'd never pay that for anything non-vintage.

That said, I would also say there's nothing like a Ricky.
