    Looks absolutely spot on!

I played one about 6 months ago now and I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger for it to sit alongside my Chowny - just need to offload a couple of guitars first to appease Mrs A - but equally conscious stock of the JMJ is low everywhere!  Think PMT had one left in black recently, but where did you get yours from?

Yeah, most domestic suppliers have them on back order, as so many guitars and basses are at the moment. I got mine from Thomann. 5/6 days from order to delivery and ordering back to being really easy from there now they’ve  got their ducks lined up on the Brexit stuff. £969 delivered. None in stock in the UK for close to that price from what I found.

    Yes thanks, all good.

It was good to meet yet another sound member of the great low-end community.

My satnav sent me through parts of Sutton Coldfield and by Sutton Park. Wow, it looks like there’s some serious money around there!

Likewise! And yes, certainly more so than the more modest neck of the woods I’m in!

When a bit of cash in my wallet from a few recent pub and party gigs meets a very tempting listing on a local Facebook page this is what happens.

A Mexican made Mustang, a very subtle sonic blue. Plus an alternative pickguard.

Even the cat looks smitten 🤩

Ah, you’re on here too. Glad you got back OK with it!

  4. It’s a fair point regarding paid reviews, but to be launching signature products from players of the calibre of Geezer, Myung and Pratt with not even a video from the artists themselves is odd to say the least. Thought the same thing with the Shavo head/Geezer head/Zender pedal etc. etc.

    Be kind.

Ask him to tell the others within say, a week, or you will have to because it's getting in the way of making arrangements.

He might actually want to back out but finds it easier to tell you as the new guy than his long standing mates. He might even be expecting you to tell them and might be surprised you haven't.

Doesn't have to be an aggressive conversation - ask him in a way that doesn't close any doors in the future.

    100% this.

  6. Some good alternative options here, though it has to be said that with the Unibass, Fission or Helix the “tight budget” prerequisite isn’t going to be met.

Realistically a used LS-2, used SubnUp mini and a dirt box at the cheap end (if there’s not already one lying around) could all be got for £100 or less and would cover what’s needed at this stage.

  7. I have one in the same colour, which also looks great with a tort guard (think I posted a pic in the short scale thread somewhere). Lots of fun to play. Agree on the quality of pickups in these vs previous MIMs I’ve experienced also. I bought mine expecting to want to swap out the P pickup at least (I generally play with the P pickup soloed) but have been really pleased with it.

  8. In my experience (am in a bass & drums 2 piece myself) the sub n up is the best option for the upper octave at not much cost. The Mooer Tender is decent too. The T-Rex Quint is another, albeit slightly pricier, option and you can dial a fifth above in on that simultaneously too. Useful for this kind of thing. And, as others have said, an ABY or LS-2 before it to split the signal plus a drive of your choice and you’ll be in the general ballpark.

  9. Learned to play with fingers 30 years ago, couldn’t take to a pick so never used one. Started playing in a bass/drums two piece a couple of years ago and fingerstyle wasn’t sounding right. Shifted to a pick and from long scale to short scale at the same time.

  10. Different strokes and all that, but as I  never managed to gel with fivers I’ve had one 4 string tuned BEAD for 20 years or so. All depends on how much you use the G when playing the stoner/doom stuff of course.

Hell, if nowt else it’s a great reason to buy another bass! 🤣

Anyone try those Danelectro short scale 59 basses yet? The long scale version video demos sound pretty good. They sure as heck look original.

Not yet, though I do know that they really need to be making them in the tacky silver metalflake they used to use on the long scale.
