  1. They're a couple of self-build projects from last year. The lighter one is a cheap short scale Chinese neck on a body made from an old mantle piece, and the darker one is a full self build, again with the body from an old mantle piece and the neck from old oak window ledge. Yes, they're both based on the Junior DC, as I missed out on getting one when they were on sale, and have never managed to get hold of a second hand one since.......
  2. Here's my pair of short scale (30") basses - one with Kent Armstrong humbucker, the other one with a Tonerider precision pickup......
  3. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John
  4. Nicely done! Which system, just out of interest? 🤔
  5. This is the stuff! I've used tiewraps as well previously when 'domestic' sticky velcro failed, but this stuff is the business. About a tenner for a metre roll of two part self adhesive.....👍
  6. Have always made my own boards/cases - so much more satisfying and can get them exactly how I want them. I've found that the self adhesive velcro that Screwfix sells to be the best for fixing pedals down as well......👍
  7. Jungle Rock - Hank Mizell
  8. Yes - it came up on my news feed a few months ago, so I pre-ordered it through Amazon. It's a fascinating read about the early years and development of the instrument. Well worth the investment! 🙂👍
  9. Yeah - didn't think that one through. Sorry everyone.....😲😆
  10. Mad world - Tears For Fears
  11. Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
  12. Nice to see an Orange Terror head - I've been using mine for the last 10 years plus, and it's been great - combined with the orange 210 and 212 isobaric cabs (discontinued now, I think.....). Yours is a 2x12 cab? Looks a nice and portable rig 😁👍
  13. The spirit of radio - Rush 🤘🤘
  14. I'm in! I just squeezed my new Martin short scale acoustic into last year (bought online on Xmas day evening, it arrived Sunday 29th!😁👍). I'm actually selling some stuff this year (couple of basses, a bass drum mic and maybe a couple of pedals), and have no need for anything new (other than what falls into the consumables category!) It's still probably going to be a long year though.......😬😬
  15. Radio Clash - The Clash
  16. Breakfast in America - Supertramp
  17. Road To Nowhere - Talking Heads
  18. Further to my last post, this is my main gigging pedal board with the punk band. The recent(ish) addition of the YYZ pedal has made every bass I use sound like a slightly overdriven Ricky - the perfect sound for the band and music. Ironically, I have a Rickenbacker 4003, but can't get as good a sound out of it as any of my precisions going through the same setup! Go figure.......🤔😬
  19. Here we go! Here's my rig from the last 10 years plus. Pretty sure I got it all from Red Dog in Edinburgh in a couple of installments. Orange 2x12 600w and 2x10 600w isobaric cabs and a Terror 500 head (complete with band logo replacement for the orange emblem!) It's a fierce setup - frequently bypassing the PA altogether in small to medium venues! The bass is my Matt Freeman Squire Precision - may well be going up for sale this year as I've just procured an early 70's precision.....😁
  20. 500 miles - The Proclaimers
  21. Sounds like the perfect antidote to the new year slump - have a great time all! 🤘🤘
  22. Hi Dave - no apology needed there! I didn't take your comments as a knocking of the punk genre at all. There's a time and place for it - if we were out every week doing it then it would gradually get less and less folks coming. Less is definitely more we've found! Good luck with whatever direction you end up going this year - it's great to be out playing in the current climate (and respective ages! 😆😆) Cheers Mike
  23. My February 15th gig is with a punk covers band - all the British 1976-1982 stuff. We only 'publicly' play 4 or 5 times a year, so it tends to attract a crowd. This year is our 10th year, after which we're taking a year off to try and write some of our own stuff.......inevitably we pick up a couple of private gigs for the old punks who are enjoying it for the second time around! Three of the four of us are in our 60's, so it does take it out on us a bit now!! Hope you still get to go out and punk it up places - it's a great atmosphere when you've got near OAPs bouncing around and singing along to every song!!
  24. Move on up - Curtis Mayfield
