1. Sorry....I know these threads suck because everybody is looking for something different, but I'm looking for a combo amp which: 1. Does not weigh a ton (or tonne) 2. Has plenty of bottom end 3. Is giggable 4. Doesn't colour the tone of the bass too much. I don't need any features but if it has features, grand. New or used will be considered. I have a Sterling Sub Ray 4 and a Squier VM Precision PJ if that helps :-) Edit - I realise this is practically a repeat thread given the other one on the page about £450 combos. Sorry.
2.
Colorado Bulldog. Took me frakking ages to get that right.
I'm on that just now. The intro is a bit of a git, and there is a big bend before the solo which he holds and shakes for aaaages, and I can NOT do it. Yet. ;-)
3. Reassuring to see I'm not the only one who struggled with Rhythm Stick! Proves I'm not awful, I'm just human. I am a novice, so I have to say either Rhythm Stick or 'What's It Gonna Be' by Mr Big. Both very challenging for me, but got there with hard work.
4. That's fab guys, thank you. I'm returning simply because I want something else, the product is not defective. I will do a straight return and refund rather than an exchange. Thanks for your help and the info.
5. Ah, interesting...maybe that's why they told me it would take 14 business days for them to answer my enquiry about the exchange product!! What's the protocol then, do you ring or email etc? What did you have to do? I emailed them to inform them I wanted to send it back, what do I do next?
6. How much roughly did it skin you? I'm sending back my Sterling Sub Ray4 in the original boxing. I paid £10 for delivery on purchasing it, but I imagine it'd cost more to send it back? Thanks
7. ...I'm returning my Sterling Sub Ray4 in Trans Blue Satin to Thomann after desiring it for nearly a year and champing at the bit waiting on it finally being delivered. "But why, you oddball?" you cry. Well, the day after it arrived, I went on the Sterling website to find out what strings came on the bass as standard. I guess Thomann don't set basses up, due to the sheer volume of stock they deal in (and hey - you can hardly complain, given the prices). The action is a bit high, the string tension unbearable. Fair enough, it's been in transit for a week. But I digress. On my visit to the Sterling website, I discover they have just launched the Sub Ray5 in Trans Blue Satin. I have to have it. I wanted a 5, and I wanted that Trans Blue Satin. I was torn. I waited and waited but they never introduced it, and then bam! I compromise and buy the 4, and suddenly they do the 5 in my colour. So it's going back. Thomann have a 30 day, no quibble, money-back guarantee. So it's going back, and as soon as they get the 5er in stock in Trans Blue Satin, I shal swoop. I emailed Thomann to ask when and how much, and they say they will give me an answer in 14 business days. I emailed them back, told them my intention and I await their instruction and cost to return the Sub Ray4. Lovely bass, stunning finish, reeeeaally needs a setup, but if they're doing the Ray5 in blue, I MUST have it.
8. Bass arrived at my house this morning :-D I willl do a NBD thread soon :-D
9. In the event that anyone can't read that (I access BC through my phone and I can't read my own attachment!) It says that it had arrived in the UK and has been forwarded for delivery! I have no patience....
10.
Have you emailed DHL ?
DHL tracker isn't recognising my tracking number.. Parcelforce are giving me my info, even for the German end.
11. I'm in the same boat. Still in Köln and hasn't moved in five days and I'm sorry, but that's totally unacceptable to me. I paid £10 for shipping and we're now on day eight since I purchased the bass and it hasn't left Germany? Not good enough.
12. Hmmm you got DHL and I got Parcelfarce. I ordered a week ago and it's still in Germany according to the tracking info. I'm getting concerned. An email will be sent tomorrow, although what Thomann can do about it, I do not know.
13. Went to buy one of these and to my absolute horror, it's almost doubled in price!!! When I made the original post, it was £79 in umpteen shops, and now it's £150!!
14.
No, it's coming from Germany. I sent a faulty studio monitor back to them a couple of weeks ago, and had an email last Friday to say it was being replaced and the new one was on its way. That hasn't moved from Koln either, last updated Saturday. I'm expecting it will update later today to say it's in the UK, and possibly (from my experience with ordering a lot of gear from them), it'll hopefully be delivered tomorrow. I do think the title of this thread should be changed, after all, it's mostly down to couriers and not Thomann.
Could you possibly keep me updated with your order please Ambient? So I know whether to panic or not lol.
15.
I agree. I've changed the title to something a little more representative.
Better :-)
16. I'm absolutely not having a go at Thomann - I understand that once it leaves their premises, it's out of their control. I'm asking questions as BCers have bought from them before and will hopefully know the usual protocol with couriers etc.
17. Would there likely be customs charges to pay on this item? According to the Parcelforce tracker it's STILL in Köln....hasn't moved since Thursday. Getting very anxious now, plus the Thomann website is now saying that the item is no longer part of their product range!!
18. Parcelforce tracker hasn't updated since Thursday. According to that, it's still in Köln. If it doesn't update tomorrow I shall have to email Thomann. That'll be a week since I ordered it like...
19.
I cried when I listened to Deconstruction. Such crushing disappointment.
Can you elaborate? Was it just a case of the songs didn't do it for you, or were there other reasons?
20. Looks like it will be a Squier VMJBV unless I can get a bargain on a used G&L L2500 - subject to me playing them of course. Thanks for all recommendations.
21. It's not Thomann who are the problem in my situation, it's Parcelforce. According to the tracker, it was forwarded for export on Thursday and there are no updates since. So I have no info on where my bass is, or when to expect it. Poor show.
22. Fully intend to. I have the VM Precision PJ, good wee bass but wish I had plumped for the Jazz instead. I may yet buy the 5er.
23. Yes, and according to that it's still in Köln. I don't think it's still in Köln though, I think it's probably made it to the UK by now and the tracking hasn't updated yet. I would love it to come tomorrow but I think Monday is probably a better bet now.
