  1. Thanks for the response, but I'm not sure it's the same thing (unless I'm misunderstanding - which is definitely possible!). The nut that holds the input jack in place is tight and does not come loose. It's the way the cable sits in the input jack appears to be the problem

  2. I was at rehearsal last night and I noticed my bass was intermittently cutting out. So I started mucking about isolating the signal chain on my pedalboard to see if I could figure out the issue. Nothing seemed to work consistently so I went straight to the amp from the bass - it was fine.

Tested all my cables and pedals today and everything working. Checked the input jack on my bass and noticed the cable can unseat itself ever so slightly - can sit 2-3mm back from flush against the input socket. This can be done with a gentle tug on the cable.

Maybe this is the cause of the problem?

So I thought I'd adjust the input jack, I'm use to this:

But what I have is this

    Screenshot_2023-07-08-14-43-17-902_com_ebay.mobile-edit.thumb.jpg.991594fbbff75c57a3a7ecfc7bd0ad0a.jpg

I was hoping I could adjust the sprung section so it sits correctly. But I can't get to it without unsoldering the wires - which I really don't want to do. I don't even know if I'll be able to fix it by adjusting it. Do I get a new one fitted instead?

Any help or advice most welcome

    Cheers

    Alex

  3. Black looks good. I Prefer it to the white for sure. I never find 3rd party pick guards fit 100% correctly (unless thats genuine fender?$$$). Screws sitting slightly off axis does annoy me - similar to amp overhang

  4. I think P bass and J bass are so different in tonal character. To my ears a p bass has loads more mids - almost honky in comparison and a j bass is naturally scooped.

As much as I love my p bass, it's not the right bass for the majority of tracks in my band (rock) and the j sits much better.

If you are reliant on your backline for the mix - pub gigs for example, then it definitely does matter. If you've got pa support and a decent sound guy at foh then probably not so much.

  5. I bought a second bf 210s to go with my ABM 600 and to be honest I was a little underwhelmed. It didn't give me the volume and presence boost I was expecting - I put that down to having to run them at 12ohms and maybe never needing to drive the amp to a volume where it would have made a difference.

I also tried stacking them vertically on top of each other but I actually think the dispersion on those cabs is so good that it didn't make too much difference.

So I felt like I'd wasted my money and moved the cab on. Luckily the cabs retain their value quite well, so I didn't take too much of a loss. That was my experience if that helps.

  6. You'll get a great used bass for £500-£600. There's been some lovely ibanez, sire, g&l, fender mexis, etc on classifieds recently. Theres so many review videos on YouTube you'll get a good idea of whether it ticks the boxes of what you want, but you won't know for sure till you've got it in your hands.

Don't be afraid to spend the money if you have it. If you buy second hand (and buy well), you don't really lose money in fact the more expensive basses appreciate.

The hunt for Excalibur has begun for you. Enjoy the ride!

  7. I bought a Reverend bass from Simon. Met at a Travelodge car park. All on time and Comms great throughout. Bass exactly as described - chuffed with it.

    Many thanks

  8. Hx stomp for sale.

Bought this in as new condition off here about a month ago - here's the original add.

Used it maybe for 5 hours, stuck a preset on it and used it at 1 jam. I don't think it's for me.

Still got original box and it's all still mint.

  9. Bought this pedal from here a few weeks ago in 'barely used' condition. I  was a bit worried in terms of quality as it's digital, but stuck it on my board and was really impressed with it. So much so that I decided to upgrade to hx stomp and my other analogue pedals maybe working there way on this forum soon.

Anyway, I would like to get back what I paid for it. Its had maybe 3 hours use since I bought it.

    Perfect condition.

    Price is £60 plus postage

  10. I may regret this, but here's a fender ultra jazz bass available for sale or trade.

It's a brilliant bass, sounds great in both active and passive, has a fantastic neck and is finished in cobra blue.

Specs for these basses can be found online.

So why am I looking to trade? I don't think the metallic cobra blue finish is really me (as cool as it is).

In terms of trades I'd be fairly open to a lot of basses. Has to be 4 strings & In terms of pick up config, anything but a p config (I've got a cool p bass already).

Bass can be worth less or slightly more than this and we could make up the difference in cash.
