  1. Going against the vicious tide here (😀), but I really like the new spec - ‘innovation’ marketing bullsh17 aside of course - but it’s a real nice combo of specs for me, ymmv… 🫣 Awesome to see Joe Lally in the P Bass vids. If I hadn’t just bought a Fender Flea Active I would have been quite tempted - I was impressed the Flea has a quartersawn neck and it’s good to see it on these too.
  2. … there’s a good reason Flea goes between a Jazz and a MM type… Keep both.
  3. Nice one @asingardenof 👍
  4. Just a cheapie Ozark, I got it in 1994 and it was well used then. I gigged it a lot in my 20s, with one of these pickups, happy days. Too painful to play now, too sentimental to part with. More than anything, way too battered to get more than £50 for 😂
  5. I’ve had it 30 years Chris, I can’t allow it to become another notch on Andy’s very impressive bedpost 😊
  6. Really enjoyed seeing Warren again today, buying a great bass from him. The bass is perfect, and Warren was super helpful with arranging our handover. Thanks Warren, genuinely hope to see you again soon (and not just because I want the Modulus 😂)
  7. Fishman Rare Earth soundhole pickup, bass version. Active. These have been discontinued for years and are super rare, not just by name (or overly optimistic sales advert ). Personally, I can’t stand piezo on an acoustic (wasp in a tin can?), and think these pickups are far more natural. Though unfortunately playing my acoustic bass exacerbates nerve pain, so this pickup is now surplus. The pickup is in great condition, comes with the box and instructions. Postage not included, but can post at cost via Royal Mail, your choice of service. Cheers Fishman Rare Earth Bass Overview For Acoustic Bass The Rare Earth Acoustic Bass pickup has the same low profile design, ensuring that picking technique and acoustic tone will not be affected. The same high quality, high performance, Neodymium magnets are utilized for the Rare Earth Bass' excellent string balance and light weight. Natural acoustic bass guitar sound is reproduced thanks to state-of-the-art magnetic field/coil structure and advanced active electronics all contained within the Rare Earth Pickups housing. All the hardware necessary to permanently install the pickup into your acoustic bass guitar comes with the pickup.
  8. I’m 46, grew up on those bands, so wondered if it’s old dudes going back, or young dudes going retro… Quick google of that phone number and -
  9. Yeah, seems to be Poplar.
  10. Not sure Chris, I actually thought these were Basswood , or was it Poplar, bodies, whereas the ‘regular’ ones were ash or alder, could be mistaken though 🤔
  11. Sounds like a win-win to me if it has been, though odd it’s still textured…. or maybe someone at the factory was daydreaming with the sander on? 😂
  12. Odd, can’t recall having that on the ones I owned back in the day - but it’s a bonus for sure IMO, had to sell my Old Smoothie as the slab body exacerbated nerve pain, was gutted as it sounded amazing.
  13. Nice… are you John Entwistle’s lovechild? 😊
  14. I had an sweepable East preamp in my Ray for a while, can’t fault it. And the bonus, for me, was the treble boost switch akin to a Sabre, super useful 👌 I only took out the East due to sentimentality (you know the score mate) when I put the bass back to stock, as I first had it in 1996.
  15. This is a killer US reissue series imo - 7.25 fingerboard radius and a proper slab rosewood board (not laminate), and with gorgeous clay dots. I got the Stratocaster version when they were released for those reasons, proper vintage spec. Really surprised this hasn’t been snapped up already at that price - where are all the buyers? GLWTS 👍
  16. Oof Chris, that LPB Precision 😢 I’ve let go of far too many nice basses, though either to pay for my first flat, or for other of life’s demands, or just as they weren’t for me. Of all my (many) vintage Fenders (57-69), a beaten up 66 P is the only one i’d like back. I sold it for a lovely 64 P that then got sold to pay towards my first flat. But I wouldn’t pay today’s crazy money for that ‘66. I’d ’maybe’ go into debt to get back ‘79 Sabre that I sold to fund a 64 Jazz - great Jazz, but the Sabre was special and long term was the wrong move. But the main one I’d love back, and definitely hit the credit card on, is a Modulus FB4 - sold to @hiram.k.hackenbacker when we needed a new floor and couch and I got my priories completely wrong 😂 big mistake. Got another FB4 a few years later but it wasn’t the same.
  17. Man that’s a great deal, bargain 👌
  18. I’m with everyone else that says go for a pedal. The Darkglass Microtubes is a fave of mine, you may find the Deluxe or Ultra version could tick the box for you.
  19. …all I can think about since we messaged at the weekend and you mentioned a cull Even got wife approval for the Modulus’ return 😂 The Lakland looks gorgeous btw, GLWTS 👍
  20. A Wal is like… where as a clone is more like…
  21. Still worth a try if ever possible for you, quality bass for sure 👍
  22. I’ve had a question around the marks that look like cracks. They are not cracks, and may have been caused by me from the edge of the blade when using the heat gun? Or I’ve read that there can be tooling marks left on painted basses, so that might be it too. Offers and trades welcomed 👍
  23. I went from 3EQ, to a Special, then back to my 2EQ… The Special is a lovely instrument, EQ and ergonomics are excellent upgrades IMO. However I personally didn’t get on with the Neodymium pickups, even on the passive short scale. Alnico works better for me on a Ray.
  24. Update - Now for sale, was previously just for trade.
