  1. Dear ashdown , I had various cabs can't remember them all sorry eb180 combo now i loved that combo it was a beast just the weight nearly killed me, the little giant series the fans kept failing especially live after several occassions of having these fixed I gave up having my amp shutting down in a gigging situation not good that's why I had a back up ! Now I liked these amps but the fan failing but me off .mibass cabs sorry they never gave me the sound I wanted .maybe fit tweeters with control switches on the back ,problem is I need a more varied sound because my band play from 50s upto modern pop ,what about a revamped little giant head without the fan fail ,now I'd buy one of those as for the root master stuff I can't comment as most music shop around here don't seem to have them or there not set up bit like buying car would not buy without a test drive if I could try them I could give my honest opinion on this range and respect that you have come on here for answers .hats off to you regard kev

  2. Dear ashdown enigneering people ,I'm very sorry if this is a very critical statements off average joe public .but as a lot of us are gigging musicians be fulltime or partime we need good dependable rigs which gives us what we need sound wise ,you made some great stuff back the in day ,I know your pro gear stuff is good I am told ,but we need someone to say ,hey I'm off to buy one them new ashdowns they are awsome even if it ment pushing the prices up a bit .balls in your court. Prove us wrong and restore our faith. regards kev

  3. Hi me again ,posted a thread the other day ,finely the sound I like , well yes it still is but I need more power I'm only getting maybe 140 watts with mb blackline 250 head or something like that with the purple chilli which is 300watt cab so not enough power really now I'd love to go out and buy a bigger head but due to house move soon the other half would probley kill me .all this 4 and 8 ohms is doing me head in now and giving me sleepless nights .Help,!!!

  4. Yeap ,the ashdown stuff they are making now just doesn't cut it anymore it lacks power it's very muffled I found it to a one trick pony and I used ashdown for a long time but the new stuff just isn't very good IMHO ,I sold the lot at a loss and bought a mb head and purple chilli cab I would not entertain it ever again . Even my fender rumble 100 watt combo had more bite and left the ashdowns for dead ,they need to sort it out or they will lose a lot of custom .send it back matey

  5. I gig a harley benton vintage series jazz and I'm not ashamed of my love for this bass she sounds great and looks great .i think she was £100 notes ,best hundred quid I've spent on a bass in fact all my basses are worth about £350 notes for the lot lol. but I'm happy enough.but I also run it into mb head and purple chilli cabs I'm tempted to buy a squire myself ,I was once told years ago by a very good bass player, you can buy the best bass and rig in the world but if you don't put the time in you will still sound pants his words were a bit more colourful than that .mmm serious gas for a squire now.i used fender American standard a few months ago at a gig I didn't like it at all my hb sounded a lot better just cause it's a fender it does not mean it the best IMHO

  6. I agree with goblin ,there's a good chance you will want to go out gigging in the near future . I'd go with a amp and cab unless you want both but not a luxury everyone can afford .but I do love my fender rumble 100 watt combo pokey little bugger + you can di it . I use at rehearsals with my band if I can't be bothered to take my rig .let us all know how you get on with your choice of gear and if you need any advice ask away someones always got the answers on here .ps you said about your sound you may have to throw in some pedals to get your sound .as most bass cab and heads play clean but not .all the best

  7. Do you work for ashdown? Sorry boys and girls as I said earlier in the thread ,one trip pony ,outdated by superior cabs !so they retail for about £160 ,or £170 so if you buy a pair that's between £320 or £340 that would buy one tasty cab of a different make unless you want too sound like j .j Brunell from the stranglers ps as I said earlier I used ash for years then one day I used some else's rig live and realised what I'd be missing I sold two ashdown heads ashdown combo and my cabs and moved on to my current rig it was not cheap but you pays your money as they say .ps hifi lol acme lowB now that's hifi baby

  8. I have the fender rumble 100watt combo it pokey little bugger ,Ive used it at rehearsals and it's holds its own + you can di the new rumble range so light to I would happily use my in gigging situation into the di of course ,but don't think i,d beat the hell out of it every night but budget wise real nice combo I've had mine about six month,s now never missed a beat ,but my stuff is pampered and never abused ,just off too read my cabs and basses a bedtime story !!!!

  9. I think guys we all like our own sound my hearing is probley not same as yours and likewise I always used ashdown stuff on and for years then one day I played ampeg head not mine wish it was with a unbranded cab omg it was gorgeous sound wise realised the ampeg was out my price range so settled on a markbass with the purple chilli cabs justed added bd121 oh bliss . now behringer make dodgy stuff and some fine stuff ,bd121 give me what I need as discreet said horses for courses or swings and roundabouts really .imho

  10. Hiya everyone ,just took delivery of a behringer bd121 v tone pedal ,and finely got the sound I like £28 notes with post it very good sound wise ,I was never big on pedals for bass but I've been converted , I would like to thank the people who told me on bc to get one ,thanks guys ,best ££££ I spent in a good while ,happy bunny kev

  11. Morning I used mibass cabs pair for a while ,here's my honest opinion on them ,they where ok as a pair I mean just ok I tried various heads ashdowns ,Warwick , orange ,markbass with them and never got the sound I wanted from them to muffled for my liking and a one trip pony .if you like the sound of them that's fine but they are very limited sound wise .i sold mine and now use purple chilli with markbass head and behringer bd121 v tone pedal finely got the sound I like ,so many better cabs available now ,if you was not so far away you could come have a go on my rig ,the fender rumble cabs are really good , I have rumble 100 combo it blew the ashdown out the water sound wise and I used ashdowns for years on and off ,but go with what ever you fancy ,hope that helped a bit ,all the best kev
