That's my take on it. The "Growl" knob is the "pokey/synthy" type of octave, the "Girth" is the more organic "fat/sub" kind of octave. Really useful having them on separate knobs and being able to fine tune the amount of each. The Aguilar Octamizer does the same kind of thing, but they are combined onto one knob as a "filter" that goes from subby and fat, to more synthy and pokey as you dial it up. Both pedals are fantastic, and I really like the mid boost switch on the MXR. I went for the Aguilar and love it so much I bought a second one, like Steve said, for being able to have blended and sub only options at my feet without having to change settings.

FS: Behringer X32 Rack & S16

If it's anything like my my old original Musitronics Mutron III it inverts the phase, so a clean blend can actually make things worse, unless you have something like the Xotic X-Blender that has a polarity switch to flip it back again!

Bought Ken's Moog Little Phatty and he was absolutely great to deal with. Top bloke!

Here we have probably the best value for money rackmount mixer/IEM rig there is. Inside the rack is: Behringer X32 Rack Behringer S16 Stage Box Behringer P16D The rack case has had an IEC input mounted on one side, so you can literally take the rack lids off and plug power into the side, and you’re ready to go. 32 XLR inputs, 16 XLR outputs across the 2 units (Mixer/stage box), as well as various 1/4” Aux ins and outs. The P16D can be used with Behringers powerplay monitor units, allowing musicians to have stereo monitor mixes without taking up any of the XLR outputs. Add your own router, and everyone in the band can connect to it with an iPad/iPhone and the X32 app, allowing everyone to mix their own IEMs, and the sound man to mix FOH from an iPad out front, drastically reducing sound check times. Also a great unit to have in the studio to record and track multiple instruments. It has the USB card installed so it can be used as a 32 In/32 Out audio interface. Used with a laptop you can record your live gigs, while still taking care of FOH and everyone’s monitoring. It really is a great bit of kit! I’ve used X32’s (not this one) on all levels of gigs, from small functions to large theatres, and they are exceptional value for money. This particular unit has only done 3 gigs with me since I bought it, and was originally a “backup X32” rig of the guy I bought it from. I bought it to use as an IEM rig for a project I was involved with that never ended up doing much live stuff, and I kept it around just in case as it’s such a handy bit of gear to have. It’s in excellent condition, with the only thing of note being the little tab on the XLR Input 8 being missing. The input still works perfectly. If you or your band are looking to take the plunge into the world of IEM’s, you can’t go wrong with these.

These look great. Very tempting!

Here is a literally as new, never gigged Kemper unpowered Rack and Remote in a Thon double door case. Very, very light use at home only. I bought the rack case for it, and then barely used it once i’d racked it up as i’m away on tour. Both Kemper and remote still have their original boxes, and still have the plastic peels on their respective screens. This is a great unit, with profiles of virtually every amp/di box you can think of available. Or you can even profile your own! Only selling as it’s not getting used while I’m away on tour, and I need the space at home. This combo would be £1671 from Thomann, so save yourself £500 on exactly what you would get if you ordered them new!

Great work! Would love to compare one to my original!

Yes this is the kind of thing I was getting at. While the example above was readable, I would try and even out the number of bars per line etc to make it even easier to read. Writing out quick charts for yourself is fine, but if I were to have other players reading it (a dep, or doing arrangements for someone else for example), I’d want everything as clear and concise as possible to minimise the chances of any mishaps on the gig.
-
My first thought is layout. Physical geography of the chart is just as important as what’s actually in it music-wise. Even if all the notes are right, a chart is no good if it’s a struggle to read on the gig.

Quite possibly the finest overdrive for bass. I absolutely love mine!

Hamstead Subspace for me. Brilliant pedal!

Hi all! Recently picked up this wonderful bass on here. With the unusual pickup arrangement, I think I’d like to compliment it with a slightly more interesting finish than sunburst. Nothing TOO outlandish, something subtle but still eye catching (oxymoron, I know). A lot of the colours I like (pastel shades, sea foam green, daphne blue etc) I think look better with a darker fingerboard like rosewood or ebony, so I think a darker body colour might be nice to contrast/compliment the maple fingerboard on this particular bass. Having said that, i’d welcome any and all suggestions! On to my second question - anyone have any suggestions/experience/recommendations on who I can get to do said refin? Thanks in advance for your input!

Customising pedals to make them look better (or worse)
Higgie replied to Yorkshire Bottom End's topic in Effects
I replaced the LEDs in my Boss LS2 and replaced the knobs so that they aligned with the LED colours for a Lehle switching unit I’ve got, to make it easier to confirm which inputs/outputs instruments were being routed to. I was pretty pleased with the result! -
If you have two pedals powered from the same supply, and you isolate one of them, then the other should also be isolated, as there are only two pedals and neither can “see” the other. That’s my understanding of it anyway. Distributor and Isolator is the way to go I reckon. GigRig Virtual Battery will also act as a single isolator.
-
That cable won’t isolate the Stomp from the tuner, which is what Si wants to do.
-
You could also run the Stomp off a GigRig Distributor/Mr Universe combo and have the tuner powered directly from the Distributor, but it would be more cost effective to buy an Isolator to power the tuner and feed the Stomp directly from the Distributor.
-
GigRig Distributor into Isolator. Power the Stomp off the Distributor, tuner off the Isolator, all from either the Diago or Line 6 psu.
-
That sucks. Nice to hear the positive outcome though - Peterson seem like great people as well as making superb tuners.

I think it was the Boss FT-2 he had. I owned one previously and it’s a pretty underrated filter. Really musical sounding and unobtrusive.
