Here's mine on the Ultimate GS-100.The only qualm I have with this stand is that it sometimes tends to 'grip' the bass too tightly,resulting in the entire stand tilting forward when removing the bass.I've often needed to use 2 hands,one to hold the stand,and the other to grab the bass.I notice that the Hercules probably doesn't have this problem.[attachment=72669:Ultimate_stand.jpg]

PS Is there a way to make this pic sit the right way up??

The Ultimate GS-100.It supports the instrument by hanging it from the headstock.Much like the Hercules,but cheaper.I got mine for £15 from Argos.

Is it me or are those tuners mounted far too high in that headstock?.From the back,the tops of the tuner plates look to be level with the top edge of the 'stock.Not right,surely?

The tugbar needs a re-think!

Of the 2 live versions shown here,the cover bands version is by far the better of the 2.Well done that band!

Strangely,I turn the radio UP every time it comes on.It has everything,a good solid beat,searing guitar,innovative bassline,all topped of with God-given vocals.What more do you want?? This however doe not include the crappy re-release with the doctored drum sound.That sounds like a pop song.

I agree with you 73jazz,there are some slight similarities,but the headstock shape,the block markers on the neck and the little control plate,and even the pickup shape,all point at something else.To be honest,I had never heard of Jolana before,but having checked them out,I think I would rule them out.The headstock is familiar to me for some reason.....

Sorry for the late reply guys,this ol' computer is giving me nightmares.Right,so the concensus is to use both the red and braid together.It'll make for a tight squeeze on the little circuit board,but your advice is good neepheid,I'll try that.Whats with the extra wire anyway?would it be something to do with coil tapping,right enough? Hi all.I'm just about to install an Artec Se2A pre-amp in my Squier P5,As you all know,this bass has the same pup layout as the Jazz bass,and as I've already installed an SE2A in my VMJ,I figured,'no problem'.Now,when I took the scratchplate off the P5,I've discovered that the pups have 3 wires each.One red,one white and one braid.I can see that the red and braid are connected to the same points on both pots(ground) so I presume I can continue to use them together when I install the Se2A.It only has provision for normal 2-wire pups so heres what I need to know...As the red and braid obviously serve the same purpose can I disregard the red and just use the braid(as ground) or must I use both red and braid together?Also,can somebody explain why these pups have 3 wires instead of the usual 2?Thanks.

Still think there's a twist in the string!

When you are installing new strings,do you wrap them round the posts a few turns before tuning up?This can cause that weird 'phasing' effect you're talking about.I used to do that a lot until I discovered thats what was causing the problem.Try removing the offending strings and then re-install them,without first wrapping them round the post.Take up the slack by using the machine head.Worked for me.

Bass player or bassman are fine with me.Bassist seems a bit hoity-toity.'Plays the bass' or 'bass guitarist' I hate.But you can call me anything,just don't call me too early in the morning!!

Does anyone know the effect thats used at the very end of the Beatles 'Birthday'.I've heard it before somewhere,and can't think where.

Thanx Johnston.I contacted JLK and they couldn't help,but he did recommend TouchstoneTonewoods like Icastle suggested.However,I may have a possible success within the forum,so I wait and see what happens.

Like I said,I just want something that I can wheek the frets out of.Setup and all the rest of that stuff doesn't bother me too much,and anyway,that can all be taken care of after the defret.
The headstock pic in Daz's post doesn't look like the one in the Argos ad either but I can't check it out myself,as our wee Argos store doesn't have it in stock.

2.Jimmy Johnston.Especially for his work with James Taylor.Understated,unobtrusive but perfect.

Thing is,I've already got a VMJ which I ain't gonna touch,But the basses got a couple reasonable reviews on Amazon.com.1 guy even considered it much better than an Affinity.I just want something to mess about with.
