1.
hi, im thinking about this option, so what knobs did you use for the double layer pot???

    thanks

Again Marcus,Ebay came to the rescue.Look under 'Dual concentric' in 'knobs'(oo-er missus). They come in 'short' and 'tall' versions.I used the tall one.

  2. I did it to my Squier VMJ.I used an ARTEC SE2A unit off Ebay.It gives you a blend control, treble and bass boost/cut,and master volume.Much better tonal range than the standard set up.You will need to route out a cut out on the back for the battery box,but thats it.8 solder connections in all,and all for around £30.Check it out.

  3.
It should be possible but without seeing how it's wired I can't be specific.

Identify the wires that connect the pickup(s) to the preamp amd the preamp to the output jack. You might be able to connect these two wires to the two centre contacts of a DPDT switch - in one position they wires go to the preamp, in the other position a "jumper wire" across the contacts connects these two wires together.

    Check here

If you read the thread all that's missing from the photo is the "jumper wire" across the leftmost contacts on the switch.
BOD,heres the wiring diagram from the Thomann website if it's any help. It's a very straightforward procedure.

All in A1 nick and all working fine.

  5. Did you notice??When it came to the solo, the camera sailed straight past the bassist and on to the keyboard.I'm convinced that cameramen are instructed to ignore bass players at all costs.Even today. But that strap length was a bit high.He could have rested his chin on the top bout!

  6. Anybody know of a UK supplier of these? They're designed to fit into a routed - out recepticle on the back of a solid guitar.I've tried the 'Bay but as far as I can see they're only available from China and the States, and I need one PDQ.Anybody got one spare even?

  7. I've been thinking of installing an Artec EXP unit in my Squier VMJ.I was wondering if anybody has done such a thing and if so,what are the advantages?I expect there would have to be some routing done for the battery etc.,Or is a daft idea?I would really appreciate some input on this guys,as I'm a relative noob on such things.

  8. Thats it just finished.I agree with the Kiwi,it was a teensy bit yawny, but the breaks with J Stone and I Heap and especially yer man at the end,I think made up for it.But Beck is a very inventive guitarist and the bit when he used the slide to play harmonics over the pups had me intrigued. But Tal,well,no solo but she was a joy to watch and her and Vinnie are a powerhouse rhythm section.Thanx BBC!

  9. I would like to modify my bass case by putting a sheet of foam rubber or other suitable material into the case and cutting out the outline of the bass. This would prevent any movement of the bass while in the case.Only problem is finding a suitable, easily worked material to do the job.I would appreciate any ideas from you guys as regards materials, suppliers etc.Thanx.

  10. I've just got a Gotoh 201 to go on my Squier VM Jazz.I expected to be a totally solid unit, but was intrigued to find that the chunky bit at the back, you know where the logo is,is in fact hollowed out. :) I have a bridge that I took off an old Legend Jazz copy, which is roughly the same same design as the 201 and it is a solid piece of metal.I expected the Gotoh to be the same.Is this normal for the Gotoh,or is something amiss?

  11. I've just bought a VM Jazz off a fellow 'chatter and I'm over the moon with it.It looks impressive, feels nice and sounds good. It's slightly heavy though, but I guess thats a personal thing.I've got a Gotoh 201 bridge on order for it,just to finish it off,as well as a series/parallel push-pull pot (!).Definitely a keeper.
