Thanks for all the input. I have had a good play about last night, and have a better understanding. I had seen a tutorial, about intervals, playing Major 3rds. He started off, on G 5th fret, then went to the major 3rd to play the interval, then kept going all over the neck playing just root and 3rds, and it just confused me at the time

I am aware of flats and sharps and how they work, it was more a question of semantics really.
If I was to say to someone play an E, major 6th, the obvious way is 7th fret, 6th fret (Assuming the root is on the 7th fret). If I wanted you to play E , 7th fret and C# 9th fret, how would I express that as in intervals? Am I just confusing myself and the issue ?

Am I getting diatonic intervals and chromatic intervals mixed up?

If you are in key of E on the 7th fret, the major 6th will be on 6th fret. If you play the C# on the 11th fret, is it still a major 6th? I assume the C# on the 9th fret will be inverted major 6th. Would the c# on the 4th fret still be a major 6th?

I bought my bass from Bass Direct about 3 years ago. I have no idea how long it had been there. I look at the selection from time to time, and there is still a Mike Lull bass for sale that I had looked at. Maybe being left handed, it makes the chances of it hanging around a lot longer. It wouldn't bother me buying it new.

I am surprised that he suddenly looks frail from the last time I saw a photo of him, as he looked fit, and was on tour soon. Just thinking how suddenly an illness can suddenly change everything. That is why I think I should do more than sit around on forums all day, as I never know what is around the corner health wise

[/quote] Yup, you have a point there. People like him always seemed so invincible to me. Ronnie Lane was a particular favourite, and he died 20 years ago, and I am a couple years from his age yet. I got a lot to do too get to what he has achieved let alone Clapton. Better get practicing

Obviously I don`t want you all giving away your secrets, but I am guessing you go to some library to download some backing material, or do you all make the track from scratch? I have my recording kit now, so I thought someone might give away some tips

Eric Clapton is not looking to well. Nothing to do with the thread as such, but when I see people like him looking frail, I realise you gotta pack as much in too your life as you can

Thanks for the replies. I will get me a patch lead. I asked as I have a spare guitar cable that I can use for the weekend now that I know it is ok. Good tip on the angled as well

Now that I have two pedals, if I want to connect them together, are the little cables that connect them special, or can I just use a guitar lead?

I have a spare Warwick and live close but I am left handed. I assume it is not of any use.

[/quote] Yes. But I believe Blue was just disagreeing that a bass to him is just more than a block of wood and wire. I agree with that, and I would have to be in real trouble to have to part with my Clover. I saw no malice that warranted the response he got.

[/quote] Probably. I use a teacher for structure. I lack motivation for pretty much anything I do and give up from frustration. I know I am paying for lessons, so it makes me more determined. I would probably have packed up as I am no natural.

We are mostly all capable of talking rubbish with no cider. Not a very nice comment as far as I am concerned.

My first tutor i had didnt even own a bass
He was a guitar player. He never embraced any technology. I stayed with him for around 6 months. I found a proper qualified bass player. The difference is huge. I had never heard of the chromatic scale and intervals. Neither had I heard of modes. Only problem is, I have a 70 mile round trip as bass players who teach seem thin on the ground by me.

There wasnt a lot of solid wood on a piano in 1932 if the one Laurel and Hardy dropped down the stairs is anything to go by
