  1. I fancy a sterling, too - they are very easy on the eye! Great collection homer - I don't know why it wouldn't let you do everything as one post - if you like I can probably join them all together.

Chers matey, keep it real up in Preston! I will be up there soon I hope for more studio time.

  2. That'll teach you for trying to tidy up.

Unlucky mate, hope it heals fast. As long as the trainee bloke didn't sew your toes together then it should be right as rain. I had to wear sandals when I had an ingrown toenail, it was probably the worst part. For school I wore a slipper with the front cut off. Looked a right knobbler.

  3. I think that would be a good idea. A decent electronics package will see you right! I was tempted with one of their 5 string P bass clones with a MM at the bidge recently, though I heard there was a mismatch in volume between the two, and ended up being skint anyway.

You can get some fantastic dual coil pickups in a single housing now, so it needn't affect the traditional looks if you don't want it to. My jazz has fairly thin soapbars.

  4. I have one of those tiny Nobels personal amps - It is attached to my strap and weighs bugger all. Sounds pretty good too with decent in-ears. The only problem is the on/off switch is not recessed so it normally switches itself on and buggers the battery. I think I will cut off the potruding stem of the switch when I get home actually, cheers for reminding me!!

  5. Bassjamm has a couple and I have had a go with them at the bash - they sounded brilliant to my ears but obviously not ideal testing conditions - later in the evening I had a chance to play his lovely ken Smith through them in what was by then a quiet room and they sounded really full. Apparently they are quite difficult to get hold of.. Jamie will no doubt fill us in!

  6. I probably use my 'studio' for listening to music whilst I work as much as recording so a decent NAD amplifier and pair of Roberts speakers do the job extremely well. I certainly wouldn't consider shelling out for powered monitors when if I want to record anything serious I will do it at the proper studio where there are proper facilities to make sure what comes through them does not need 'dressing up' at all.

I wonder if NAD will pass under the notorious swear filter!!!

  7. All valid points, and ones we would no doubt have considered if it was possible to adjust the filter settings offline as mentioned earlier. In order to get it right it will obviously take some tweaking and thanks for the helpful feedback so far.

  8. True indeed. When others have played my 36er they have not noticed the difference in playability at all which is interesting - I have played 35" basses where I had to conciously stretch a little.

Interesting what you say about the decrease in sustain on the G - I have noticed that this bass of mine has the most sweet tight popping sound and I guess this could be attributed to the scale also.

Having played Robbies Maccasar 5 fretted and 6 fretless I am sure this will be a wonderful piece of kit...

    Cheers

  9. To be honest mate if its just for muckin about you might as well go jonesin' for some semi decent hifi speakers. There is a shop full of bits and bobs near me with some lovely pioneer boxes. You can always get big old decent speakers pretty cheap in the free ads.

  10. Well I think it is quite funny personally, if you are that bothered that you cant swear, then you need to chill out. Steve was only trying it, so a little more patience and tolerance wouldn't go amiss. We respect your opinions of course, but as this is a public forum open to 13 year olds and above, we want to filter out the worst language, but obviously we need to play with the tolerance settings etc.
