  1. Im using a VT500 through a B-112VT cab and loving the whole package. I want another matching cab so as to use the full 500 available watts but they seem few and far between and as Im not up on the history of these cabs, when were they in production from and until? See they were fairly expensive for  non-neodinium driver magnets so maybe they didnt sell many. Were there any other cabs in that range or just the 112?

    Thank you for any replies.

Also..if you want to stay with G&L you could consider their jazz bass (JB2) or the SB2 which has a jazz neck.

I use both an L2000 and a JB2 (tributes). I get along fine with both neck widths. The anlico pickups in the jazz are quite hot sounding - for a jazz bass -  while still being passive.

  3. Having GAS on a permenant basis, I have been through many basses during the last few years. From those bought and played, I would rate them as follows:-

    1st - G&L L2000 and JB -2s

    2nd - Chinese CVs - 50s and 60s P bass and a 60s Jazz

    3rd - Revelation RPB

    4th - Squier VM P bass

Also have a 70s Kasuga Ric copy and a JV P from 1983 which are in a different league (in a good way) but both cost less than the £500 mark.

Musicman SUBs are great but sold them on as prefered P basses in general.

I feel your pain. For such a huge company, I think rather bizarrely, the options on new Fenders can be quite limited. I'd absolutely love a Fiesta Red P-Bass with tort pickguard. The only models that fulfill this seem to a discontinued Squier CV 60's or a Pino Palladino Signature at £3500

Try a Revelation RPB in red, sub Squier CV price for a really well put together and great sounding bass. Tweaked, theyre a really fine instrument.

  5. I swapped out the fairly flimsy bridge for a Wilkinson bbot with brass saddles on my red RBP. Thought Id swap the tuners too but they are very robust and hold pitch fine. Overall, it looks good, feels good and by golly it sounds great too, especially with flats!!!
