I use an overwater all the time gigging in a 3 piece, I use a rack system and 8x10 and get nothing but compliments about the cut and balls of my sound, Overwaters are designed to sound like the wood and construction of the instrument. If you want a character eq and pick ups, stick some in but as mentioned by others in the thread the build quality and playability is second to none. Dave

    Here is a screwjack 4 string bass bridge, which i think was made by wilkinson, I know this was a prototype which was a prototype bought from Overwater in 1994. They had received it as a sample. The bridge is very heavy and very solid offering action and intonation adjustment for each string. It has 5 screw attachment and is a direct replacment for a fender 5 screw bridge as per badass bridges.

    Here are mine. A stingray was the first dream bass i wanted when i first started playing, inspired by Steve Garvey from the Buzzcocks. Eventually got one and didnt stop! Left to right Piezo Ltd natural 3 Band , Honey Burst 3 Band, Ash body with Cairns neck and Musicman 2 Band in vintage white, 78 see through brown. Recently had the necks of the two 3 bands lacquered and they play much better, never really been a fan of waxed necks, they get very sticky when im playing, its just my preference i knwo some bass players who say the opposite.

Its terrifying how quickly time has passed, Im 40 in September!!!! 57 Basses, thats crazy talk you lucky bugger. Not sure what to do with my lot, not sure wether to go for any more, i sold about 10-12 over the last couple of years to buy some more fenders and slightly older basses and a few guitars to increase the value of the collection. I might go alembic, not sure at the moment nothing really taken my fancy lately. Re Mrs Wilkes, if you ever fancy a swap type deal let me know mate. ATB Dave

    Heres mine, Its an 84 Mach 1 Custom No. 2267 Flame Shedua Facings on a Brazilian Core. Always wanted one and saw this in the local ad mag advertised as a pro 1 for £320, it had been in for 9 weeks and no response!??!! so i offered 290 and got it! Ill never sell it. Dave

    Couple of reviews of the pickup off harmony central, there are a few that slate it as well, but these do describe the sound accurately Overall Rating : 9 Comments: This pickup is very smooth and warm. I assume every will run it through a preamp because most musicmans are active. in that case this pickup is perfect. it can be fat dull and bassy. super midsy with insane bell like harmonics and bright ass trebly with lots of snap. I prefer just a little bass and mids with the treble set flat. if playing through a cab with a horn I might even turn the treble down for slapping. very clean sounding pickup. I'm sure if you know what MM's sound like you'll be very happy with this pickup. By the way it insanly quiet. Overall Rating : 10 Comments: I would buy this pickup again. I satisfies the classic Sting Ray sound that I was not getting from the stock pickup. I've seen playing the bass for 22 years. I own a '69 Fender Precision and an '80 G&L L1000. I'm satisfied with the sound of these other basses, but the Sting Ray is my main bass. I love the feel and playability of the Sting Ray and now I love the sound. I never experienced the tonal varieties of the preamp with the stock pickup. I believe I had a bad stock pickup because I've heard great tones from stock Sting Rays. Everytime I would play on the G string with the stock pickup, it sounded like someone turned my amp down 2-3 notches and set the compressor on full. I found myself playing higher up the neck to avoid that string. Now I don't have to play harder on the G string or try to avoid it. I definitely gives me that Sting Ray sound that I was not gettin with the stock pickup. There is also a cool factor involved. My bass is black with a black pickguard and pickguard screws. With the all black Bartolini pickup, it looks really clean; kind of like a newer model Cadillac STS with a minimum of chrome!
