6.
After having played Jazz basses all my life, I bought one specifically for a project and now I tend to use it for everything when I can. I love the feel and playability and the way it sits in the mix, it's always there. My only beef is the slap sound but even that can be sorted with eq. I'd say get one if you've never had one. Sell it if you don't like it.
cheers fellas.tried a couple at bass day,was rather underwhelmed with them for the price.plus i'd already fallen for another stunna of a gb on bernies stand!!!(damm you goodfellow, stop make'n guitars that nice)but i'v borrowed a 2eq one thats for sale from a bloke that lives nr me.been playing for ages on it today an the combo of stinger an ebs has got my gas back in full flow.....seen the perfect one on sale in the states but unfortunatly they stipulate no exports out of the country!!!worked out under a £1000 too.
 7.
L2000's are awesome (I have one!), but the reason they are awesome to some people like me, i.e. for their versatility, is the reason that lots of people don't like them. Even though the G&L can get a close 'ray tone, I'd still consider adding a stingray to the collection as it's just 'there' all the time rather than going through a load of different switches and settings to emulate it. Plus I love the halfway-between-precision-and-jazz necks.
yeah, had a g&l asat....close but no cigar ray sound wise.currently got ksd 70's jazz an a gb standard.all through ebs td 650,2x10 and 2x12 neo cabs.just NEED that ray sound!! if i may be so bold to slightly change tack here?is there a great deal of difference with the rays sound with or without the piezo bits in the bridge?or am i better going for a good old run of the mill 2band eq?
 8. got some serous gas for a 4string stinger at the mo......well,it's been developing for the last 10 years!i feel an explosion of my hard earned is iminent!!!so,which one should i go for?in my stingray naivety i kinda thought they were all pretty much the same.........how wrong was that!!! gotta be a four stringer an as $$ to £ is sooo cool at mo it'll more than likely be a new one rather than paying £700/800 for 2nd/3rd/ onwards hand ones.
 9.
yes, thanks for that observation.. £650.00
soooooooo tempted.always wanted one of these beasties.i'll check the bank balance an av a think. get back to you asap.
 10. try stringbusters..........strings a plenty.£11 for elites!!!
 11.
Alembic Mark King, I bought it new for a very reasonable price, and then it sat in its case forever. It was very fiddly to set up but sounded great. Should never have sold it !
and now i've just parted with the blighter, kinda missin it too.....................was a tough one to get set up just right though!!
 12.
now under offer from 2 peeps......who's gonna get the cash together first???????????
we have a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!thanks for all the interest this bass is now sold.cheers!

 15.
I tried an identical one in the Bass Centre many years ago and loved it - that all maple construction gave the bass I played some serious growl and the alembic circuitry kept things full sounding.
think i also played the one at the bass centre.......the wood on this one was much better tho.your right this baby has a real growl, not found another alembic so far that has a similar sound.
 16. would be a cash only deal i think....got a few basses knocking round now an only ever seem to gig my gb,got a ksd arrive'n soon too,so for a trade it would have to be something special, real special!!!....would be looking in the region of £2200 for it.
 17. thought about this for a while...so here goes. 1999 alembic mk bass, amaze'n quilted maple top, plays amaze'n,about a year ago i had a proper heavy duty ffitted flightcase made for it (£250) that will come with the bass..........realistic offers please
 18.
Hi there, tried a Trace T-Bass? They were made for trace by Rob Green through Status, basically S1 electrics on a Jazz style body with the Ergonomic tuners (offset head). Imagine a Status that plays like a Jazz...... Theres on on the Bay at the moment if you want a look, i've got a 5 (serial No 265) white body, plain (no dots) Pau ferro board (brass side inserts), single layer vintage tortoiseshell plate, one up for grabs well under £800..I you like the look i can send pix. It comes with the original Trace Elliot gig bag. Rob is re-issuing them as Status models with a Graphite neck so you could also look on the Status site. That also means any spares are readily available again. if you do want pix you can bell me on 07779 718 119. Good luck however it all pans out... Andy
cheers andy,i have ordered a ksd,remeber the t-basses tho.very nice bit of kit.....didn't know rob was re-issuing them tho.damm!!!
 19.
The KSD was about £250 or so more, I think over £700, it was out of my price range. If it was the same price I would have had some serious thinking to do. I don't think it stands out head and shoulders above the other jazz basses in the same price range available, definately worth a look though.
agreed.the ksd is very marcus sounding....but thats the kinda tone i fancy for a change.just sold a custon built g&l asat to fund it.also the price i'm paying for the ksd theres change a plenty from £700........
 20.
'Ave it!!
cheers for the suggestions, just sold a g&l asat, been looking very closely at the ken smith,it does look amaze'n ,played a similar bass in newyork last year, just that damm extra string!!!!!stingers are cool, keep em come'n if you can.........
