2. Fancy meeting up and attempting to jam,. Well that maybe a rather tall order for me, but it would be great to play sh*te with other like minded folk if ya now what I mean.
3.
There's nothing stopping you from joining a band right now. It's just a matter of finding other people at a similar level to yourself.
Very very funny indeed, thats deffo me at the moment ! Maybe i should put an add out, crap bass player wanting to play in a band
4. In Bolton its self ideally. Cheers
5. Now i know this is a very subjective question, but a goal I have is to be good enough to play in a band. Ive only been learning the guitar about 5 months and the bass about 1 month but i think its good to have goals, no matter how long they take to achieve. I practise most days for around an hour but do miss a day every now again. With the right commitment, im reckoning 2 to 3 years to get good enough ? I fully realise that even after 2 to 3 yrs i would still have loads to learn but hopefully be good enough to play in a band. What ya reckon, am i wildly out ? On another note, has there ever been a bassist or guitarist who came to the instrument late in life but became a pro and makes money from it now. Im not talking about someone that has been musical before but someone that never played an instrument before and then suddenly picks it up and then becomes sh*t hot ?
6. Apologies, my stupid fingers pressed submit by mistake. What I meant to say was, I know there are a mass of lessons on YouTube for beginners but can anyone recommend someone that does structured lessons, the kind that start with lesson 1 day 1 kind of thing ? I'm the kind of learner that prefers the structured approach. A lot of the beginner videos assume some prior knowledge but is there anything out there that assumes no prior knowledge ?
7. Thanks for all the advice peeps, much appreciated. My Bass Collection is now in for a set up and different strings so will stick with it when she's back
8. Having started learning the guitar about 5 months ago I thought I'd also start to learn the bass aswell. With the guitar I can manage a finger per fret and play scales etc, but on the bass it's massively difficult to get a finger per fret. Anything from the 6th or so aintoo bad but as for frets 1 to 5 is nigh on impossible to stretch the fingers. Is this just a right of passage I've got to go through ?
9. Howdoo from Bolton also. Where abouts are ya ?
10. By the Headhunters I mean, I'd live to be able to play that !
11. I really ought to use the search facility ! Sorry bass chatters , forgive my ignorance.
12. What make are considered high quality strings ? I'm after some new ones for my Bass Collection bass and would like to get quality ones . I'm not thinking flats so a gauge for rounds good for a beginner would be cool. Thanks all
13. Sorry cant help, but an awesome tune !
14. The Bull by the old police house in Belmont ?
15. Was wondering if there are any other beginners in Bolton who dancing meeting up for a jam chat ?
16. I'm after a decent quality strap for my Bass Collection SGC. Can anyone recommend a quality one ?
17. Sad to hear this, but his music lives on in his daughter Anoushka
18. For me it was Norman Watt Roy of Ian Dury & The Blockheads. Always very animated in his playing and I always feel he really feels that groove.
19. I know there's a groove library but that tends to be examples of people's playing. Is there a section where people can post what they are listening to at the mo or is the groove library the place for this ? It would be great to get what everybody else is listening to
20.
They are perfectly symbiotic and playing both allows you the perspective of a musician instead or a bass player or guitarist.
Very good point there !
21. The thing is I've only been learning guitar for 8 weeks and I want to learn bass aswell ! Maybe I should learn to walk before I can run eh !
