1. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
2.
A sticky along the lines of "TalkBass's" "How to get Started"would be a good idea IMO . http://www.talkbass.com/threads/how-to-get-started.1098564/
I'd be willing to run it ?
3. Beginner question alert ! What's with the coloured material I sometimes see on the ends of some strings, usually red ?
4. Not that I can jam, but I know attempting to play with others will really bring my playing on. So if anyone wants a beginner to try and jam with them then pm me
5.
I agree with what most people are saying, just don't be afraid to ask about things. That said, i wouldn't mind seeing a section with just some stickies featuring FAQs that we get on the site.
Yeah, maybe a FAQ sticky would be a good idea. Like I say, my original post wasn't a knock at the forum which is superb. Just an observation from a beginners point of view
6. Cher s for the advice everyone. I realise another 'what strings' post can be a bit laborious. I also realise that part of learning is hardening my fingers up
7. I did Kodiak, he was the one that told me to lol !
8. I know for you experienced people, the what strings question maybe a pain to keep answering but the trouble is as a beginner I don't have the experience to know what's good and what's not. I'm just after quality strings that will be easier to play for my fingers
9. Have ordered a set of Status strings and some D'addario exl170's
10. I'm having a lesson with Scott on Thursday and hopefully will get to try one of his
11. I hear ya, but a lot of posts from a beginners view seem like they are in a foreign language. I do search the forum but sometimes I feel like asking what would be considered by most as dumb questions. Esp when it comes to amps, cabs and effects. I actually had no idea what a cab was until I went into a local music shop . Dont get me wrong this is not a knock at the forum, just a thought that's all. As we all go along on this journey we all learn 😀
12. This may well have been suggested, but would it be beneficial to have a beginners section ? I am one myself and would like to see one. Just a thought that's all 😀
13.
For me, I always liked the Mustang/Musicmaster shape, so I got a cheapie Squier Badtz-Maru. It weighs nothing, it was easily customisable following a headstock accident, plays easier and sounds a bit more whumpy than an equivalent 34" scale bass and it's fun. Let's also not forget these are serious instruments too. Short isn't the remotest bit silly.
Amen to that, coz I is a short arse !
14. Genuine question and not meant as a knock at all. I'm a beginner and would like to know why go short scale ?
15. I was only talking about a simple t shirt , just to show I play. Nothing else
16. Bump for this. Will include an as new padded gig bag and also a small Kustom practise amp and lead
