ive had it called so many dif colours now! :-) its wicked whatever it is!

  4. im looking for a strap for my fender p-bass.

i wear my bass quiet low and im looking for something with a cool design on it, anyone know a website in the uk?

ive had a look round but there so many sites and the only ones i can find seem to only have the really bland straps? im not looking for leather, something custom would be quite cool tho.

any idea's? heres a pic so you can get an idea as to how i wear my bass, its not rob from tallica low but still.

  6.
Doubling on bass? nice! I know it sounds awesome on guitar! Maybe have different dirt pedals on each :)
nah honestly so happy with the sound we got, and it is all clean not effects on it at all!

got one rough mix back on thurs, he spent bout 20mins on it after we'd done our vocal takes, and it sounds wicked! the bass is perfectly in the mix! and the other track we recorded wasn't even mixed was just as recorded and even that sounds cool! and in this song the bass stands out in the mix, which suits the song really well!

all in all so happy with how its turned out so far, final mixes in a few weeks, the guy doing it is our friend and he is a bit concerned about mixing them as they sound good atm! but i know he do a wicked job plus ill probs go in with him and help mix it.

here's a pic of our singer doing vocals, check the mic's!

  7.
that doesn't look like the most....er....acoustically ideal room. so, it's probably best that they were close mic'd. ^_^

PS -- As with any recordings, the key is to do what sounds best -- hence the above usage of 4 mics (presumably one will sound best, without the need for multiple takes to change mic's over). Generally, IME, close mic'ing sounds best on bass, although some mics can give a proximity bass buildup effect if too close.
yeh thing is we all loved the sound of each mic, and how they sounded together! so i think were gonna keep all four! :-) probs 3 at minimum, and there was a rumor of doubling up the tracks!

  8.
wow. Nice setup! I love ampeg...

I've just finished some home recording - can't wait to get ina studio some time. Probably not going to happen. Saving up for a macbook pro, then by the time that happens I'll probably be @ uni, then another 5 years of debts, then maybe start a proper life... :/

Pretty cool, though! When you going to have some MP3s out?

    EDIT

I swear you're meant to have the mics at least a metre away from the cab. Well, that recording magazine aboutrecording bass sucks butt!
were looking at getting the final mixes in a few weeks time, are friend is doing it for us. as soon as they up on our site i post a link up.

i leave the mic positioning to the tech's :-)

  9. they went really well, was slightly nervous as I've only ever done live recording, I've never tracked just bass.

was really relieved when i did both my parts (we did 2 songs) in 2 takes, the people we were recording with managed to capture my tone brilliantly! i think we did quite well time wise as we managed to record both songs complete bar vocals in 9hrs including setup, me and our singer will be doing vocals tomorrow.

here a snap i took of my amp all mic'd up just before my takes.

  10. well it will be once i have payed for it in full!

my bass teacher new i was looking for a 2nd bass, and this fitted the bill big time!
1998 mia p bass, with deluxe tuners and through body stringing!

its really nice! the finish is teel green, its like metallic silver with hint of green.

ive already got a plan to put a black pickguard on it then it will just be
can't wait should have it all paid for in to months time.

i know there all a bit different, im gonna tryout a g & l tribute if they there also.

i would really like to find a fernandes gravity deluxe that i can try but apparently they are discontinued in the uk! :-(

  12.
If you like the graphite neck have you considered a Status Energy? Or even a Groove, which was Status' take on Stingray(though that one come with a wood neck).
yeh i have considered that but they all seem to be just as expensive as my current bass, i really like zons but they are like 2 grand!

    andy

  13. played a gig with this for the first time!

was awesome had to do a bit of adjustment due to where we were playing but only got good comments on my bass tone, sat really nice in the mix, even when i turned on my metal muff distortion for our last song!

and just found out that my band gets to spend a day in a studio, its to help out a friend whos doing a course there. we going to do two tracks complete in a day! will be quite hectic me thinks! but ill be posting the recordings up once they done so you can hear what my rig sounds like.

  14. hi guys im looking for a good secong bass that i can get for around 350-500 quid.

im looking to backup my modulus fb4, so something that can come close to that would be wicked( but thats a long shot) ive played a few fenders and they were really nice but they were all like a grand!

ive looked into fernandes gravity bass trying to find a 4er secondhand, im unsure bout the squiers as ive played a few and been unimpressed, olp mm copies were a big let down as i dn't want to have to mod the bass to much to make it a good sounding bass. the most ill do straight away is probs get a badass 2 bridge put on it, and some dunlop Trujillo sig strings on it.

any suggestions? ideally it be nice if it was active.

  15.
Well... after seeing that... and doing a bit of price research... I got my own, for even less than what was paid above, and mine is one of the last USA ones, which was a nice added bonus (not that im knockin's the Vietnam ones at all). The chaps at the shop even gave me a Speakon connector FOC as well. Top guys, who also fashioned a protective cardboard cover out of other boxes with a stanley knife for me to take it home in.

It is awesome. As mentioned above - menacing. Its set up downstairs at the moment and hasnt been moved because i just like looking at it. Fearsome power as well - im not using it above 0.5 volume on the amp (B2RE) and its shaking the floorboards. With my Ric and a pick you can nail that Ric/Ampeg tone in seconds. I am so proud of it that I had to take a piccie of it and my basses. Sadly I am in the picture as well, but hey, you`ll get over that I hope.

nice mate im so happy with mine!

  16.
I always thought the 810 looks overkill. That's nice. Menacing but in a civilised way.

however I'd keep it away from the cat post. you don't want the little blighter getting any ideas...
its been moved now, was there for a day and they were to scared to go near it!

yeh its more refined than a 810, and more compact ( well kinda) than a 410/115 setup.

it just fits my bands sound to a t!

    andy

  17.
Of course I would love an 8x10 but I am a weed and cannot lift that kind of behemoth, or fit it in the car. But if it solved your GAS for the big bad 8x10 .... can only be a good thing (for your back) ;-)
indeed the 610 is surprisingly easy to move round, plus i like that its not really the norm, ie an 810 or 410/115.

and if i haven't mentioned its loud as hell!

the only gas i have now is for the 2395 quid zon that i played while trying it out!

  18.
i want one
    i want one
    i want one
    i want one
    i want one
i want one i want one i want one i want one i want one i want one.

    ahem. Good purchase sir
you wnt regret, its cured my gas for a 810 ! although i did try a zon while i was up there that was a mistake!!!! it was awesome!

    andy

  19.
That just looks so right. Good work Sir.
Get a good cover for her to keep her looking sweet.
What does it sound like with the head?
tried it with a pro 3 in the shop and it sounds sweet, ill be putting my head thru it on thurs, but mines a pro-6 which i prefer the tone so im sure it will be awesome!!!!!

yeh ive asked a company if they make me one, the made my 115 orange cab cover and i was wicked they get back to me monday, anyone know what the ampeg ones look like? there shops down atm.
