1.
Warwick 611 :)

Cheaper than the ampeg, pretty much same size as ampeg.

You can get them brand new for about £580

    900watts (1200watt max) into 4ohms...nice
sadly to big to fit in my car. granted the ampeg is gonna be a tight squeeze.

  2.
Going for a 15"+6.5" would a lot more different still! But I admit that a 6x10" does look more imposing. :) However I bet an Ampeg 6x10" couldn't handle the 2000W force of my power amp like the Big One did last night!

    Alex
no you do have a point there! lol

  3.
Your amp has a solidstate power amp so that's all that matters. It will be happy running any combination of cabs right down to the minimum rated impedance. You could drive a 16 ohm cab, a 12 ohm cab, a 20 ohm cab, whatever. Just don't go below 4 ohms (assuming Ampeg's website is correct).

Ah, the power of the Ampeg brand! :)

    Alex
wicked thanks man thats good o know.

yeh i suppose to a point but also they look awesome!, plus i think going for the 610 is little dif than the standard 810 or 410+115 setup?

  4.
Solidstate amps can run any load down to their rated minimum (actually they can usually go quite a bit lower than that without any problems) - there isn't an ohm setting. Valve amps have output transistors with different taps to help match up different impedance cabs. However the impedance of a cab is nowhere hear constant - an 8 ohm cab will typically vary between about 6 ohms and 50+ ohms. I rate one of my cabs, the Barefaced Big One, at 6 ohms and would recommend using the 8 ohm tap on a valve amp. Incidentally this cab provides similar max output to a good 6x10" but more bottom and punch despite weighing half as much.

    Alex
ok i get that, soz i didn't mean ohms setting but i think you got what i meant.

but my pro-6 being a hybrid, ss power amp, but it got driver tubes and tube pre, also it doesnt have a 4/8 ohm selector on the back.

im only asking incase i can only use my head on cab sharing gigs its nice to know.

my heart is set on the 610 if it the right price

  5.
Oh, and in answer to your original question, my Markbass 6x10 was smaller and lighter than my Hughes and Kettner 4x10
what amp where you running that with? why make it 6 ohms?

is it bad to run an amp between an ohm setting?

im getting a price on a new ampeg 610 on tues? fingers crossed it about 750-800, with atleast a 300 quid part ex on my orange cab i should only have to put down 500 towards it?

    andy

  6. ive played a vba400 and loved it! the tone was wicked, and the eq really useful.

ive had an orange ad140b and it was awesome, played a 200b and it was just amazing! i prefer the ad to the vba.

ive never tried the svt pro 2, my pro 6 has a valve pre, and has 4 driver tubes, i love it gives the exact tone that i want! but someday i do hope to get my hands on a vintage svt all valve head.

ive also played thru a trace v4 head and 4x12 cab b4 i had my rig sorted thats at our drummers house! no that is a sweet sounding amp def recommend that if you can find one, i think u can get v6's and v8's to?

but the only thing with valve amps is they weight a tone, particually the vba!

  7.
The reason for the impedance is the restriction of speaker values- 4ohm, 8ohm, 16ohm etc.

The 5.33 ohm impedance is due to 3 pairs of 8ohm speakers wired in parallel, just treat it as you would a 4ohm cab :)
really, god damn i just got my head round the whole ohms thing! haha

    oh well they to pricey anyway 2 talking nearly 1400 i think for a h n k 610?

  8.
http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...t_NV_Range.html

Check out the berg nv610, pretty light, compact, easy to manouevre, killer sound.
i thought bout this but they are just to pricey.needs to be around the 800 quid mark?

  9. weight wise it doesn't seem there alot in it like 20 pounds?

the ampeg takes 600w not sure of other 610 makers? i know h n k do one but that far to pricey! and has a weird ohms thing 5/3 ohms?!

im looking into gettin a coulpe of 410's at the mo, but am wondering if this maybe a better way to go?

my band plays small bars, to large clubs, i have seen bands in these places use 810's b4, which i thought was overkill.

anyone got a 610 that they could give me an idea of how big it is?

    andy

  10. right i have a new plan as there really is not a rackmount effects unit that i can find in my price range.

what im gonna do is this probably,

    get this

    http://www.thomann.de/gb/thon_rackschublad...1bd88d5d09f8bae

then use it to house any pedals i dnt want out front like these
    an md-2,tu-2 and a ceb-3
then i have a lead coming out the back which i can take into my wah wah, and plug my bass into the wah.

and i only have 2 plugs out the bk as i will put a power supply in the drawer to run the pedals.

    sound like an idea?

just got the md-2 for 40 quid of the bay :-)
and know got the ceb-3 for 40 quid 2!

    andy

  11.
all the footswitch controls also have a front panel switch and led so it can be used without the footswitch. All my racks do this.

    Dave
i just had a listen to the sound clips on the site, and they sound nice but, again lean more towards the overdrive sound.

ive looked at pedal swtichers, using the md-2 boss pedal as thru bass it sound sweet but it another pedal, and mounting it in my rack is maybe an option but not sure i have enough room in my rack.

    andy

  12.
How you gonna turn it on and off without a pedal?
i was hoping to find something that i could turn on and of from the front panel if not the foot switch is no big deal, just trying to limit if it possible.

    andy

  13. hi guys,

im looking for a full on distortion rackmount unit, ive looked into sansamps but they appear to be more directed at overdrive tone.

anyone know the best way to go? tring to cut down on the number of pedals i have? i only want my wah and tuner out front.

i have to spaces left not looking for a multi effect like a pod as there effects there that i will never use, i have considered a voodoo labs pedal swtiching system but this is a bit £££ plus its a bit tight to fit in my 4u rack with my pro-6.

    any suggestions?

    andy

  14.
Im looking to go after one of these, and i am after some info, Do any of your lovely guys own one, are they any good? Looking to go from my xtreme 5.1 to this..

    Chelios
i have one and love it!

i moved on from an orange ad140b, so that should give u some idea of how good i think the tone is!

one thing i have noticed, it runs louder when at 4 ohms? dnt know why?

the compressor that its got built in, is good, the eq is easy to understand and work, plus the tube voltage gives a cool edge to the sound.

i wouldnt sell mine for anything! part maybe a vintage svt?

if you've got q's ask away and i try and answer.

    andy

  15.
Yes.

Here are a couple (these are the only ones on my computer at the moment. I'm not at home until a week today, so I won't be able to take more details pictures until then)

    Ed
wicked mate that looks sick!

any reason why you changed the tweeters?

    andy

  16.
I have two Aguilar GS410's. http://www.aguilaramp.com/products_cabinets_gs410.htm

They sell for £750 at the bass Gallery. http://www.thebassgallery.com/index2.html

They work perfectly, and I transport them around in their original boxes with holes cut to allow access to the handles. (I have also replaced both tweeters, as I have owned them for quite while, probably about two years.). I no longer use them as I have bought an Ampeg 8x10.

I'd be quite happy to let you have them both for £500 (that's £250 each!). I'm based in York.
    I can send/post pictures if you're interested.

    Ed
hell yeh! pm me some pics bud.

    andy
1000w 410! jesus.

  18. hi guys,

im gonna be getting a 410 to replace my orange 115 later next month.

thing is i was gonna go straight for the ampeg 410, but there's something spinning me out! they are all 4 ohms at which my amp throws out 1100w which is a bit more than the 600w it meant to take?

im also looking in gk, orange and hughes and kettner( this one looks good due to it taking 900w and it 8 ohm)

im gonna use my 115 as part ex they've offered me about £300 for it, and then im willing to add bout another £300 on top of that.

but when i look at the cabs rms they are all below what my amp puts out i know it wnt do this all the time ( ie put out 750w at 8 ohms ) but i dnt wanna get an under powered cab HELP!

im looking for an 8 ohm cab so i can add a second later

    andy

  19.
How much are mansons going to be selling that AD140B for then?
haha not a clue man?

i wish i could have kept the orange but i needed more power!

im getting an ampeg 410 in bout to months as he offered me 300 quid for my cab, which is bout half the ampeg 410.

i love the pro the sound is just sooooo nice! and its loud as a b"£&!(d!

    andy

  20. found this amp at mansons in exeter and just had to have a look into getting it.

so i asked how much i'd could get in part ex for my ad140b, first of he said 500 ish? went and did some research and came bk and offered me a straight switch!

    £1245!

so here it is my brand new svt pro 6!

    im well happy!

    andy
