*SOLD* Great pickup but I'm just not using it anymore. Sounds natural and much less electric than piezo pickups with the correct placement on your bass. Equally good at amplifying both arco & pizz. Very easy to put on and take off. In good condition although the wooden carry box has a few scuffs. Cheers Geoff, hope all's well with you. Just got this back & Laurence has done a great job with it. It's had the front & back off, with every single crack patched up from the inside, a new brace on the back (one of the originals had split) & the neck join has been redone and strengthened. It's now in great structural condition & should be good for years to come. It sounds good too if a bit tight at the mo. There's a lot of new wood in there, I'll be blasting it as loud as I can for the coming weeks & the sound will open up again in no time. It's currently strung with Spiros but I might stick on a set of Evahs. That's definitely the string for that bass. -
A typical German Mittenwald shop bass from c1880. 7/8 size with a 105cm stop. It started life as a blockless but has since had a really nice blocked neck made by Mike Hart and retains the original scroll. It's a great chamber music and jazz bass, projects well and is very consistent string to string. I've owned it for about 4 years and it has seen regular professional use during that time. The bass has been with Laurence Dixon for the past few months undergoing a full restoration so will be in tip top condition when I get it back this week. Detailed pics will be up soon. I'm based in Catford, SE London for viewing and the bass is priced at £4000. No trades unless you have a good modern bass of similar playing qualities.

Back in London for a while type bump -
I have a Finale & it's a great bow for the money. Handles really well & gets the string moving instantly. I've used it on many professional gigs. It sounds a bit cold compared my main bow but that one's worth about 3 grand. I've tried a couple of people's Yita bows and didn't like them at all. No experience with the ones from Thomann I'm afraid.

Cheers Rushbo, he's probably great but electrics are very different to acoustics!

As the title says really. My basses have only ever been to Roger Dawson & Malcolm Healey but could do with some suggestions local to my gig of the moment. Any good recommendations? All the best, Chris
Fantastic bass - I'm not given to hyperbole, but Chris Celinder makes amazing instruments. I've owned many 'high-end' basses over the years, Wal, Sadowsky, Sei, USA Lakland, Status, GB, Fender Custom Shop etc., but there's something indefinable about Celinders that sets them apart - if a bass can have a soul, these have one that is more alive than any other. Without exaggeration, the best jazz bass I've ever played. Suffice to say I own one of these.
Cheers Low, will be sad to see it go. It's definitely very alive sounding, really resonant. The preamp has a few boost switches inside & while engaged, it can do that classic Marcus Miller style active jazz sound. With the switches off & the passive tone rolled back a bit, it sounds like a good beefy vintage jazz. Awesome bass. -
A real beast of a bass. I absolutely love playing it but I definitely feel more at home with a good precision bass instead. This one's been owned by a few basschatters before. I bought it from Fingerz about a year ago & before that it was owned by Flanker. Here's Jo's original sale thread with the pics http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1557914 I wouldn't mind if this didn't go but for now a trade with a Celinder precision 5 would be ideal. I know it's a bit of a long shot but fingers crossed. Not really interested in anything thing else at this time. As a straight sale it's £2200 firm. Not keen on posting this bass but potential buyers are welcome to try it out at my home in London SE6. All the best, Chris
