1. Yep - HE! Meet Cyril... I knew it was going to be a fantastic bass - but I never suspected it would blow me away quite as much as he has!
2. I have driven a 300 mile round trip with a storming hangover today to retrieve this beautiful beautiful bass. I have wanted a Peavey Cirrus USA for some time now. Having sold my Warwick Corvette $$ last weekend I finally had some cash, and lucky me I found someone selling one on eBay which no one had bid on and I won for a ridiculously low price (in my opinion). Am I right in saying Peavey no longer make the Cirrus in the US? Anyway - I have only played it for a few hours so far but am already convinced that this is quite possibly the best bass I have ever played. I haven't played many admittedly, but I have played some which have reputations far far exceed this, and this is way better. The first thing I was very happy to find was that it is super light. My predominant reason for finally selling my Warwick was that after 2 years of playing it I think it has actually curved my spine because it is so damn heavy - certainly a problem with my left shoulder in any case. This bass also balances exceptionally well on the strap - did I mention how light it is? I did not know bass guitars could be like this! It has active pickups powered by not one, but two 9v batteries. Cycling through different positions with the various knobs can pretty much achieve any sound I could possibly need. I love the range of possibilities. It is amazing for slapping, amazing for two hand tapping stuff. The action is super low and the neck is lovely to play. Very slim but good string spacing - not too close. I am actually so excited about this bass I am at a loss. IT is amazing and I am so happy with it, well worth the difficult journey today. Here he is: Added bonus of the original hard case too - very happy!
3. That is truly a thing of beauty! Love the colour...
4. I have recently sold my Warwick Corvette $$ 5 string....it was very sad seeing him go but I know he has gone to a good home, I am extremely interested in 3 different basses and not sure which to go for: Ibanez SR1200 Yamaha BB2004 Peavey Cirrus (USA) Currently I am leaning toward the Peavey Cirrus.......I have heard amazing things..... But lets face it - I actually just want all of them.
5. Sorry! Wishful thinking on my part...heh heh
6.
PM'd
PM'd me? I haven't received anything....?
7.
I always do that with my basses... the grass is always greener and all that.... Biggest compliment I can pay these basses is that the bass tutor from my old collage (many moons ago...) who was the single greatest player I have personally ever seen, now seems to be playing one live... and he used to have a Wal that started my own obsession with that particular brand... If it's good enough for him it's more than good enough for me. Anyway I digress... Good luck with the sale.
Yes that is quite an endorsement!
8. Oh cool, yeh good chance it is then as I got it from Nevada down there secondhand. It is an awesome bass and it is just a tad too heavy for me, and one too many strings. If I could trade it for the exact same bass in a 4 string then I would in a flash....
9. Here is the thread. Its 10lb in weight according to specs online - so I guess it is not exactly lightwieght - depends on your definition I suppose! Let me know. As I say I am incredibly interested in your Ibanez so let me know what you think. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/226700-
10. Thanks Rob. I had no idea these were priced that much brand new (although worth every penny). Perhaps I am underselling it!! I do love it so much and in typical fashion am now considering whether I should sell/trade it. Its got an amazing low action, and it sounds 'fat' and yes, growly. I would love to have a 4 string version. But only if it was a bit lighter. This bass is too heavy for me. I think 2 or 3 years is enough for my poor shoulder.
11. Updated trades: Anything with 4 strings and active pickups, although may consider passive: Musicman Sterling Musicman Stingray Spector Euro or Rebop Peavey Cirrus (US) Ibanez SR1200, 1600, or something from Prestige range Warwick - any 4 string considered ESP/LTD (higher end) Yamaha TRB4ii Overwater There are a lot of options I will consider there!!!!!
12. You are not after another 5string are you? Just thought I would check! I have a Warwick corvette double buck 5 string and am looking for a 4 string. This ibanez would be perfect. I'm sure your answer will be no but hey if you don't ask then you don't get!
13. I forgot to mention that I have the original Warwick folder that came with the bass along with the truss rod adjustment tool. The bass also has locking strap nuts on it (as seen in pictures). And I have also included a photo of the serial number for anyone who is interested. 14. Damn, that really is a sham - I would have bee quite interested in that I think.
15. For sale or for trade is my Warwick Corvette Double Buck 5 string. I bought this secondhand from Nevada music down in Portsmouth. This has been my main bass (my only bass really) for the last 2 years. I have recently recorded an album with it, and have played it at numerous gigs. It is in great condition with very faintest of hints of buckle rash on the back (tried to capture in one of the photos) and a small ding near the input jack, again tried to capture in photo. The main issue is that the volume knob has fallen off. I still have the knob, just very little technical know how as to how to get it back on there. I am sure it would take someone else very little time to sort this. The volume know is also a push/pull knob to switch between active and passive modes. 5 strings. Beautiful finish. Sounds immense. Why am I selling/trading? I want a 4 string bass ideally, I bought this bass as it was there an sounds amazing but with my playing and ability I really don;t require the extra string right now. I would also just like to change things up a bit and try something else. As I don't have spare money to buy an additional bass, I need to sell/trade this one. What would I consider? Well, I am open to suggestions. An Ibanez SR 1200/1600 - something light with a narrow neck or similar perhaps, or maybe an MM Stingray, Spector, Peavey Cirrus...I am female so as such would something slightly less cumbersome than my Warwick (which I think is near on everything - heh heh). money may need to change hands either way for a trade depending on what it is. I think I would like to stay with an active bass as I play a wide range of music styles and want an instrument that can manage that. I don't know, throw it out there....my mind is wide open right now I would prefer collection, I live in Richmond Surrey, work in London Bridge - so any areas around or between is good. Alternatively my family live down in Hampshire, and I visit from time to time so all the way down to Portsmouth could work too..... Any questions please let me know, I am afraid I am not all that technical, or have huge bass knowledge but I will do my very best to answer. Or if you want more photos just let me know.
16. Hi, i have a Warwick corvette double buck 5 string that I am about to put up for sale tonight/tomorrow in burgundy/red oil finish that I would suggest as a trade. It is not on the list that you mentioned in regards to trades but thought I would throw it out there just in case it is something you would consider. Apologies if not.
17. Hi Nim I can't get your website to display - I tried both Internet Explorer and Chrome. As someone said before it just displays a grey background, and no information.....(i'm on a computer and not a mobile device)
18. Hi there, whereabouts in South London would collection be from? Thanks
19.
For people just buying these units, don't be put off! They are fantastic in every way, I just think I got a problematic one.
Thanks for the reassurance!! (these are still on my list of contenders along with some compact ABM cabs being sold 2nd hand on BC...) Hope your cab gets sorted ok...
20.
The Fusion head is WAY different from an Ashdown. Make sure you check one out first. In conjunction with the 12's in the cabs its a lot more bitey and less whumpy than the Ashdown. I made the same switch from an ABM500 evo3 as i couldnt get on with the pillowy sound and couldnt dial it out enough for my taste. The GK is more me.
Thanks for the heads up, I actually played through one at a gig a couple of weeks ago and I loved the tone I could get from it, way better than anything I have managed with my ashdown. However I am still open to options. I just need lighter stuff (I currently own a massive 2x15 trace Elliot cab which is impossible for me to move solo). I need to get stuff that I don't have to rely on the boys in my band to help me shift!!
21. Hi I would be quite interested in both cabs...what kind of price would you consider for the 2? Thanks
22.
I have the same pair running thru a GK MB Fusion head and its all good so far.
Excellent that's good news - I am looking at the GK MB Fusion too as it happens. Thought I would get the cabs first as I have an Ashdown head I can use currently, then when I have some more cash to play with the Fusion is definitely on the list to check out.
