1.
Nothing bass related, but i noticed the saltire in the background, you moved south mate?
    c
Mate Ive been down here longer than I care to remember. originally from the Valley of the Garnock. Where are you?

  2. Time to sell my Peavey rig. Powered by MkVI head that Ive had for a long time. 250WRMS @4 Ohms 400W @ 2Ohms Hi/Lo Inputs, 9 band Eq +Low & Hi shelving. Built in compressor, chorus with footswitch ,Variable crossover, effects loop etc. Its built like a tank and has never let me down in all these years. It has a bit of mojo with a little bite out of the tolex at the front and the hardware (screws bumpers etc are aged) but its still pumping away. Next is the Peavey Megabox bought by me with the amp. 1X15 Black Widow & 2x8" . 250W 4 Ohms 400W Program. Bi Ampable. Same mojo as the amp. Finally is the Peavey 210 TVX with controllable Tweeter bought off a Basschatter in May. It is immaculate, hed had it 3 months and Ive gigged it twice. 175W 4 Ohms , 350W Program. Now I know its not top end stuff but this is a huge rig, versatile tone and big sound. Im asking £ 260 for the lot. Dont want to split really but if I have to Head £100, Megabox £80, 210 £80. More pictures if needed. Any Qs ask away. Pick up from Reading or I can meet half way within reason (50 mile radius)for the usual petrol and a pork pie. :) Cheers

    210 TVX SOLD

  3.
Lovely collection. Which is your main gigging bass?
Thanks Murph. Up till recently I used the Ric exclusively but since Ive joined the new band, I use the Stagg at every gig for 5 or 6 numbers and the Bongo has made an appearance. I love the sound it makes but Im in danger of making Ricolina jealous :) so Im planning to swap gig about on the Ric and Bongo.

  4. My little lot. 1980 Ric 4001S BurgundyGlo Ive had since 81, Bongo 4 HH Rolls Burgundy with Tortoiseshell guard, Stagg EDB Transparent Red, Michael Kelly Dragonfly Fretless 5 Birds Eye Maple body Mahogany neck and Abalone inlays, Peavey Grind BXP 5 Blue Sparkle for sale and the Daddy Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 210T and Genz Benz 112T NEOx. 5.
Yeah, I intend to leave it (once I've got one) sitting next to the Shuttle using the effects loop. I guess you can string stomp boxes together in the loop, with the compressor coming last.
Yes you can. The manual states the loop is intended for serial devices (compressors) and parallel stuff delays, reverbs etc. I put an OC2 after the optostomp. No dramas.

  6. +1 on the Optostomp. Very transparent but levels the playing field nicely and adds a nice dollop of sustain. I put it through the effects loop on the shuttle and it does the job nicely. I leave it on all the time and really notice the difference when I switch it off. Cheap and good value.

  7.
Nah down south ... near Bristol Airport ... in a tent full of pink cowboy hats and very realistic replica hand guns, a bucking bull and a well dead pig on a spit .. (rain was expected "hey let's fill the dance floor with gear!")

    Fun gig though :)
Sounds cool.

  8.
Errrrrrrr I'm clearly not in your league when it comes to knowing all about chaps :)
According to Cowboy Bobs Dictionary, they were "Woolies". Like this without the dark bits
Probably dont want to be regarded as an aficionado of Chaps however in this context Im a fan. Were they seen in "The Nam"?

  9.
Ha ha well it's happened each time I whip mine out. Last week it was a woman in full on sheepskin chaps ... :)
She made a happy man feel very old
Yeah I was going to ask you about that. Are we talking Shania Twain Chaps or Gloria Estefan? On reflection it actually doesnt matter.

  10.
Just wondered ... for research, like ... did a bunch of women in the audience tell you how much they liked the stand up bass?
Steady OG Steady  Was that a Stand Up or a Stand Up Bass? :)

  11.
I'm thinking of selling mine, it's a bit redundant, thanks to some other toys I've got.
Mint condition, but i've lost the box - thanks to a house move.
How much do these babies go for, second hand?
Interested mate. First Dibbs please

  12. Hi Steve. You will have seen the threads on the Stagg with nothing negative coming out. Ive only owned the Stagg so can only give you my opinion on that. For me it was the best value for money purchase I have made in an age. Sound wise it comes across as a Double Bass(not my opinion, everyone who has heard it including some pretty hot jazz pro's) :) Its controls are somewhat limited (Volume and Sub Bass) but that doesnt detract from its overall playability. It also features a headphones out and a Line in (MP3 etc.) It gets a rep as a starter EUB and I dont doubt that there are more high end models about, however for me I gig it weekly through a Shuttle 6 and it is the Mutts. Looks good, sounds great and I wont be upgrading. Hows that for a glowing report. BTW if you dont manage to get a play on one, Im in Reading and you are more than welcome to pop down and try it out. PM me if you want a shot. Stagg On

  13. +1 to Jakesbass. At last we come to the common denominator. Music is supposed to be fun. Fun for those experiencing it and fun for those producing it. Whilst I feel for the originals out there trying to make it/maintain it, we cant forget that music is all things to all men and in this age of the State telling us with increasing regularity what to do, what to say or not say, how to feel and how to act, to limit a musicians enjoyment by implying that the music that he loves playing is somehow devalued by the fact that he plays covers and not originals is at the least unkind.(self edited) and at worst another example of uncalled for censorship. The local music scene is made up of both covers and original bands, and long may that continue. Im off to do a dub bassline to Spiderman now. A cover, but not as we know it! :)

  14. Welcome mate. There are a bunch of us discovering that size does matter when it comes to the Stagg. The score is 4 reds to one black at the minute I think. You will find this a great site. Check out the Stagg threads on the EUB forum. See you there

  15. Tired of always being in the background? Feel you have more to offer? Want to interface with YOUR public at a more intimate level but cant get past the guitarist and the singer? Look no further than this user friendly clip on stage presence enhancer. Designed ergonomically for that vintage feel, the Fragile Ego Illuminator ™ will project you to the front of any band mix. Select the Illuminator™ at the start of the show or use the optional footswitch to make a surprise appearance. . Imagine the surprise on your lead singers face when you "Illuminate" during his falsetto moment. Go on. You know it makes sense!!See Link tongue.gif http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=Attach...ost&id=8992 So the Stagg made its debut at the Crown and Cushion last night. Went down a treat. Couple of pics of the beast in action.8994:DSC04846.JPG]

  16. You know I really want to join in the hat parade. I have been known in the past to stand under bandanas (biker days), stetsons open air gig times (Ala Glover) Blues Bros stylee Fedora? have been known to host carribean nights in my Rasta hat and wig and proudly support London Irish Rugby in a green wig and Top Hat. However I have been informed on numerous occasions that since I passed the mid point of my earthly tenure, when I wear a suit /hat, I look like a man with a head transplant. :) Oh well. I will have to worship the hat from afar.Stagg on brave behatted ones.

  17.
I am lucky enough to live between the US and UK and own the hyped Shuttle 6.0 - I bought 2 in the US about 3 months ago, and sold one on ebay in the UK about 3 weeks back. I have gigged the other several times now, both with just a Neox212T backline and DI/PA support and I can tell you this is one amazing head. You have to live with it a while to really love it, and you will find the tone you want. Together with the GB Neox it has plenty of headroom for even large halls, and the DI is one of the best I have come across. I owned a Countryman 85, but have sold it now as I don't ever see me needing it again. If you know the NEo-Pak 3.5, the Shuttle tone when EQ'd flat is VERY similar, the front end is indentical I understand. Only downside as far as I can see it is the lack of 2Ohm capability. But then when I had the 2, I connected the effects send of one to the effects return of the other, connected an Epi410 and the Neox212T and had the most incredible 7lb 1200W rig of doom!!!!! At US prices you can afford to own 2 though. I will be bringing another new back to the UK next week - if anyone is interested in one let me know. But don't tell C&E :-)
Hi Deekay. I also travel to the states a lot but have been worried about bringing a head back in case voltage /Hz problems mess with it. I know the Markbass covers the voltage range and can switch between 50/60Hz so can I now assume that Genz Benz does the same? That would be nice. Anyone else know of any other makes that can cope with pond jumping?

  18.
First outing ... new EUB, new cabs, new hat ... what a steep learning curve:)
Now that is what the Stagg was made for. I bow to your coolness OG. :) Oh and large respect for the hat.

  19. Maxkitty is very supportive of my bass obsession. I had a break from playing for a few years and now Im back she says she can see its in my blood, I was just missing it. She also doesnt mind my GAS although she doesnt really know how severe it can get but so long as everything I buy costs £100 (honest darling) shes happy. :) Cant get her to stop asking why do you want 6 basses when you can only play one at a time tho. Bless

  20.
Hi Maxcat,

Sorry for the delay in getting back. Yes got your PM about the Tripod. Thanks very much for that. Thanks also for the photos.
Your welcome Linus. And you got to the top of page 2. Niiiice
