Many desks can do this kind of double patching internally, so you might not even need any external hardware

The CQ does not include an internal matrix but feeding the base into two inputs would work well. Slightly off-topic, but the chorus works like a dream for a bass.

  2. There are many ways of looking at PAT. Before there were really defined standards, Panasonic would revoke the guarantee on any item that had a PAT test label. If we go back many years, especially the early days of valve amps, there were some lethal products around and the dangers were very real, but the various standards passed in the intervening years mean that equipment itself is very safe.

The venues are another matter, as @Phil Starrhas mentioned. A socket tester is your friend https://www.screwfix.com/p/kewtech-kewcheck-103-13a-socket-tester-230v-ac/45558.

The other point is that your lips are ultra snsitive and a very small elctrostatic charge could be just as likely from a microphone. Perhaps a foam shield? https://www.andertons.co.uk/shure-a58ws-blk-foam-windscreen-for-sm58-beta58a-sm48-and-565sd-mics/ will both protect you from shocks and also protect your mic from saliva.

Terrible is the answer I'm afraid. From Cornwall the nearest half decent bass shops are in Bristol so travelling to check out or even to buy is a long and expensive haul. For anything else in the towns in between I reckon I own more basses than I've seen in stock (dis-regarding the usual plethora of ultra low budget beginners stuff !😂). Buying online is the most viable option and the gambles and risks that go with it 🤔

Choose a reputable retailer with easy returns, then you can try and return if not satisfied.

They weigh virtually nothing, but I'm happy to weigh mine for you. I've only had it about two weeks, but I love it. Somehow it defies the laws of physics - such a deep bass sound for such a small thing. I'm gigging it on Tuesday at a Morris dancing thing as a substitute for double bass while a leg injury heals.

    EDIT: 2.6 lbs

Wow, they said nothing heavier than a bag or sugar, 2.2lbs. I am sure the packaging must make it over 2.6lbs.

    Which one do you have?

If I want to cover both I'm happy with just the J personally. It's close enough to me and still gets the job done. I would necessarily see a PJ as an obvious solution,on both pickups it's not J enough to my ear.

A J is just nut P enough for me. I have mostly P/Js and without fail the J pup at the. Bridge is so low it is unusable.

I completely agree (or at least to the extent that the logic for fahrenheit is somewhat convoluted). Celsius is a far superiour system. But I still think of weather in fahrenheit and all other measurements of temperature in centigrade!

    Don’t mention Kelvin then.

From the moment I entered the training school, I never used imperial measurements. The engineering industry in the UK had already adopted the SI, more commonly known as metric system. I did not find it difficult and even at 73 can still easily do mental calculations to convert from the imperial system that I learned at school to the SI system that I used every day at work.

Changing to the SI system and decimal currency was easy we all know how to count in tens, and I do wonder about the sense in teaching children in the third decade of the 21st-century there 12 times table.

My good friend @Passinwindassured me some years ago that where he lived in northern Oregon there was no problem sourcing metric screw sizes.

Interested to hear how all this turns out. I’ve just cottoned on to Elixir Stainless Steels and they sound and feel great. It’s got me looking at the Rotosound Nexus as well as the Dragonskins.

I love the Nexus and am surprised they are not shown more love.

  10. The received wisdom seems to be that guitars & basses use linear pots, despite the fact that our hearing is logarithmically responsive to sound. The reason is that the pots are not used as potential dividers. However, I put in some DiMarzio pickups into my bass a few years ago and saw that the DiMarzio wiring diagrams used logarithmic pots. After a long conversation over a few weeks with DiMarzio Tech Support, I wired it as instructed and found that volume and tone worked well with adjustment at all around the rotation of the pots.

I have since used that same circuits on about 8 basses with the same results.

  11. I don't know if you have fixed this but to me that looks like two issues, firstly the pic with the red arrows seems to indicate broken tracks alongside the DC connector's solder pads. The remedy for this is to solder a piece of wire between the two closest pads. Secondly, the patch to the left indicates a liquid ingress.

If you would like me to have a look, PM me .

That is tempting, but do I need another project to sit there looking at me and do I need another The Jack to go with the one I acquired one a couple of years ago for £100 and had to spend an extra £10 on a couple of parts.

The shop I bought it from thought the electrics were faulty, but it turned out the LED on these tends to fade with time and otherwise it was OK.

Yes you need another one. Seriously though, I have too many projects on the go, so that is why I am selling.

The changes from Silverstone to Silverstone II were enough to warrant renaming the cab. That's not the case with the Monza - or the Monaco for that matter, which has also benefited from incremental improvements over time.

I have to say that my Monza is not lacking in any way. It is a very early one and  still rocks my socks.

Yep, they are both bog standard as far as I am aware.

I believe that the early ones had a smaller port and crossed over at  about 2KHz. @stevieis using a different compression driver now that allows the crossover frequency to be lower. Mine is an early one.
