2. Ive got the same one. I love it to peices, you can get quite a lot out of it and its relitivly cheep anyways, for £150 its a steal. Its loud enough for small/med gigs so I hear, and my neighbours can vouch for that and I live in a detached house. Really nice piece of kit. good look with the sale

5. what did you end up putting in the control cavity? are you leaving the SP so you can see into it or is your sister going to paint the inside of the scratchplate over the cavitys??? eaither way its going to look sick. cant wait to see what your sis paints on it.
6. I cant tell from the pic, but does the black SP go under the chrome pot cover? The grain is lovely! you should be well pleased with it!
7. taught myself like most people out there, pretty much went thru itunes of all my albums listening to songs I thought I could play, download the tab and play it badly. First song I learnt was I wanna be your dog by the stooges. kept doing that untill I hit a wall with what I could play cause I found tabs hard to figure out timings. so downloaded Guitar Pro 5 and never looked back, pretty much learnt and still learn things from that, but the draw back from that is, ok I might be attempting to be spot onto that but it doesnt give me any insperation or knowledge to either make things up or add a few notes in here and there which ultimatly I want to do, so 2.5 years later.. im looking for my first lesson.
8. I would be happy with a black SP, it does its job and means I dont have to fill holes, but then it is a shame to cover up the paintwork with a piece of black plastic. although, if I could find someone with the right tool for the job, and if it wouldnt look stupid, I could get the slayer god hates us all album cover thing cut out of it so you can see the purple behind. just the crosses like. any take on if that would look tacky or not?
9. ive got to say that is very appealing!! but then what do I do with the holes. aughh.
10. I seriously dont know what to do. My current thoughts are... ..I dont like clear SP (sprayed might be diffrent but I cant see it turning out well if I do it) ..I dont really want to fill any holes ..I dont want to make a SP from scratch (ill make a mess of it)
11.
You get these minimalist covers: I toyed with the idea of using them in my fretless project, but decided to go down the clear route, so as not to obscure any of my sister's artwork.
Sorry I just noticed this post. I do really like the pot cover one. Not sure on the pup cover though, seams a bit square in a sea of curves.
12. Ok ive got these... and im still un the wiser! I tried it with silver too but it didnt very good. Suggestions??
13. RIGHT!!! im gonna get my "MSPaint on" Im at work but there aint nothing to do so I might as well mess about. While im messing about on paint, can I order premade clear SP's or do I have to make it? I dont think I have the tools to make it to a decent quality.
14. Pups are MIM Fender, got them for £14 delivered from someone on here, so I thought id see what they are like, I can always upgrade them later to something more expensive when I figure out what kind of tone I want from it. well i first wanted to make a chrome scratchplate, but then I realised it was gonna take far too much faffing about so I didnt bother. Plus, looking how dark the bass is, I think the scratchplate would look daft in anything else but black/dark I do like the black and the black/silver idea but my dad normally sprays cars so he wont have a small enough nossle to airbrush it. hummmmmm... aughh, I was quite content with a black scratchplate but now ive gone off the idea, THANKS BOB!!! geez! I like the thought of a purple LED under the SP now too. But its not an active bass. although I could cover the cavity in silver conductive paint, spray the whole or part of the SP black, put purple led's in the pup cav and pot cavity attached to a watch battery in the pot cavity and leave a 0.5cm ring clear around the knobs/pups so they glow purple. without seeing the actual LED's. AUGHHH bob what have you done to me!
15. Morning, I could do with a tutor in doncaster. I dont mind traveling to rotherham/sheffield area though. Been playing 2.5 years and im looking to learn slap, increase my knowledge on chords/theory and just general larking about with a bass. I could do with getting rid of a few bad habbits too.
16. Humm, I dont know. :| Why I dont like clear scratchplates?? er... TBH I think they serve a reason, to stop scratches and to look pretty. clear ones serve only one reason, stop scratches (imho) But if your not using a pick I dont see why not just leave the plate off and fill the cavities.
17.
Cool foursome I really like that paintjob on the '83 Jazz...
+1
18. Is that not the best artwork you have ever seen?????? I think I could make a living by doing nothing but MSPaint drawings.
19.
Ahh but thats the rub. Its only as clear as you want it be.... You can fade the blagk out as much as you want..... the purple would then fade into the black.... Why no likeee clear?
ooooo, I see what your getting at. make sure where the cavity is is black, and then fade out to the edge. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo That sounds really good. can see it being a bit tricky though, around the pot cavity thats pretty much gonna have to be all black cause the cavity pretty much nearly touches the edge of the scratchplate. hummmm... might have a bit of a play on ms paint... gimme 20 mins thanks for the idea Bob!!!!!!
20.
+ black screws....
+1
21. OH NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although it is a shame to cover up the paintwork, I HATE!! (with a passion) clear scratchplates.
22. Nahh, I thought it would be a bit too much to spray the scratchplate purple too. Gonna stick with Black for now, But I used a good 20th of the purple paint I bought so if the black looks boring, ill give it to my pops to spray.
23. Update to the snobbery. Im getting rid of the jazz and getting an OLP 5hh ray. This is where my "more money then sence" comes into play, im pretty sure if I love that bass ill end up getting an EBMM 'ray 5er to go with my EBMM 'ray 4er. I still want a US Jazz, Still want a Bongo, Still want a Shuker. All this and im a terrible bass player. Im definatly a gear whore.
24. Oh, must be my monitor at home that makes the pics look blue not purple, hummmm.
