  1. Just weighed my Harley Benton JB40FL. 10.6 lbs!! Now I may have set up the weigher thing wrong but if not...  Great bass, good sound, amazing value - and virtually unusable for a crumbly like me cos of weight.

      You'd know just by picking it up if it was 10+ pounds. I know I would....and presumably it has less metal on it (no frets)?

      What wood is it? If it's Ash then it probably is super heavy. 

       

      There's a worldwide shortage of Swamp Ash (although that's not a species - it's just ash that grows in a damp environment - therefore dries lighter). So cheaper instruments will use heavy-donkey pieces of ash! 

       

      For our SWBs - we have had to cap and chamber them to reduce weight because of this.
