I do recognize his talent and musicality and understand why it fascinates a lot of bassists, don't get me wrong.
He was indeed one of the greatest ever.
But music like the stuff he did in Weather Report etc. is just not for everyone.
I can't listen to it (or any other jazzy stuff from that era) for more then 2 minutes or I will want to break stuff. It just gets on my nerves.
Funny thing really, taste is.
In the meantime here's "Modern Electric Bass for y'all to chew on".

Whut? I've heard and seen about as much Jaco as I can take. Boring!
Can't get enough of Bobby Vega vids though. Man... DAT GROOVE!

Best amp ever. Built in x-over, both mono and stereo fx loops, handles 4ohm loads twice you you can hook up lots of cabs and believe me it is more then able to feed those cabs. I own both an RAH600SMX and AH400SMX. The blendable tube (valve if you like) adds some lovely buttery warmth to your tone and the dualband comp is deffo the icing on the cake.
Please note that 600 trace watts do easily blow away other brands amps rated at 1200 watts or even more.
Someone better go pick this baby up soon. -

Still one of my dreambasses, that SS2-5 of yours. Not a huge fan of the Line6 BassPod even though they are very versatile little machines.
Here's what the cat dragged in today over here: -
DR fat beams sound really good on them, so do low riders. Currently I use EB hybrid slinkies which also sound great but do not last very long. I play dolphin pro1 and streamer pro-m five string basses.
-
They should come with two different neckplates, I threw the double F logo one on mine. Nice basses! The slightly slimmer then usual P neck profile is really nice to play.
Good luck selling a lovely bass.

Twinjazz only makes sense as a bridge pickup. There's no use switching coils if they're gonna sound nearly identical to eachother.
-
Collection has been steadily growing, still no fretless though...
Added a rather cool guitar as well, 1961 Gibson SG special with Lollar P90's on. Yum!
Bass wise lately been exclusively playing the 5stringer so added a backup for that too... Warwick rules! -
Find the sweet spot! Bit of fretbuzz in the attack phase of your notes and when you dig in only. You can really start to "play" then.

Yep Boire has this weird kinda silvery shine. Love it!
The Pro-M has been getting a coarse setup last night and finetuning today (I always wait a night or day after having adjusted the trussrod to let it settle). Plays like a dream now. Sounds quite different from and yet similar to the Dolphin (warwicky). Its sound is a lot less even across the strings as that of the Dolphin though, which is still clearly my favourite bass in the known universe. -
NOBD. Red Streamer proms edition. Happy face.

LAL. Wish they'd just make it sound less mediocre. Right now it is just a rather big tuner.

I know for a Ric this is considered pretty much "clean" but still...

If you are not looking for breakup but merely some tube warmth, I have heard that utilizing JJ ECC83S valves is great for a bass amp.
Can someone confirm this? I want to get some spares for my Trace Elliot SMX amps just in case. With the SMX you can blend the solid state and valve signals. -
So... whut happened?
-
Exactly.

No GAS whatsoever atm. I'm trying though. Browsing the forums, auction sites, Thomann.
There is nothing on any of those I want or need.
Weird eh? -
I like the TC heads but think they are pretty pricey for what you get and wouldn't use most of its options.
Would be more inclined towards looking at the Warwick LWA 1000 amp if I weren't such an oldskool Trace Elliot amp addict.
