Thanks very much, some really interesting stuff on there. ML is a good guy and you've got to love his non-stop enthusiasm!!

  2. For those of you with a persuasion for ACGs - it may be worth your time in becoming a member of the ACG Owners group on Facebook. There's going to a be some very nice basses for sale in the near future.

  3. You know that feeling where you contemplate selling everything you really don't need and keep the bare essentials? Yeah, something like that.

It's worse than that for me.  Sometimes I end up in a bad place mood-wise, which results in feeling like I should sell all the gear I have and then start again from scratch.

Inevitably, this happens in moments of deep, desperate, despairing dissatisfaction with my sound. Don't judge me - we've all chased tone dragons, I'm sure.

Thankfully, most times I manage to avoid throwing the baby out with the bathwater and keep a vaguely sensible head on my shoulders.

  4. Our trombone dude passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday. Whole band is stunned and bereft... can't believe we'll never see him again. Such a lovely guy.
    RIP Stewy the 'Bone. </3

Not enough 'bone players around to be able to cope with losing one. V. sad indeed.

Yep, that and the Sandberg one too.

Thing is, I 've started using fretless as much as fretted basses nowadays.

So reeeeally I'd need two basses.

  6. While GuitarGuitar Glasgow has a decent selection, I am very excited to make a trip down to Bass Direct at the end of the month.

    ALL THE TOYS

We happened to be in Glasgow at the weekend, and while I was driving, my Mrs. pointed out "there's a big guitar shop over there".

Then she pointed out a cool-looking coffee place directly opposite. I could sense a trade-off situation developing....

      So I drank coffee.

Then, with Mrs. Mango's blessing, we went into GuitarGuitar (though I think that if I'd tried to buy anything big, that blessing would have vanished so fast that my head would have spun).

Went into the acoustic section first, was told that the bass department was next door and Paul would sort me out.

Went into the electric guitar section and was told that the bass department was downstairs, and Paul would see me right.

Went downstairs, and Paul, who is a great bloke, did exactly that - let me lift one of the most expensive basses off the wall and noodle on it for quite a while. (Sandberg California VM 5-string, hardcore aged white - since you ask. Gorgeous.)  And then another.

Clearly, with my being a Sassenach a loooong way from home, the likelihood that I was going to buy much if anything was minimal, but he was happy to chat and to let me play.

      Top, top man.
