1. Hi all, I'm selling my Ibanez Premium SR1306NTF, 6 strings with Nordstrand pickup, 3 bands eq (with 3 position switch on mids) and a passive/active switch. All perfected by the caring hands of a luthier and set with a very low action - comes with Elixyr strings and original rigid case. In very good conditions aside for a couple of marks on the back due to a button in my previous band "shirt-uniform" - see pics. Price is £750. Here's what Ibanez have to say - the 2016 Premium SR1306-NTF. A solid ash top allows for pronounced highs while the mahogany body delivers warm and fat low end. The new Mono-rail V bridge supports longer sustain and enables a wider range of intonation adjustment. The truss rod adjustment is now located at the neck joint as opposed to the headstock, a feature that is mirrored by our Prestige lineup. A New 3-way mid frequency EQ switch can help the player dial in the perfect tone for any playing situation. Other features include Nordstrand® pickups, Premium Fret Edge Treatment, BLACK TUSQ XL® nut and Gotoh® machineheads. Premium soft case included. Nordstrand pickups - The Nordstrand "Big Single" pickups on this guitar are full, loud and aggressive. If that describes you're style then this is the bass for you Specifications Ash/Walnut/Mahogany body Rosewood fretboard Premium Fret Edge Treatment BLACK TUSQ XL® nut and Gotoh® machineheads Nordstrand pickups Gold Colour Hardware Locking Machineheads
2. Interested. Pm sent. Cheers Andrea
3. Very happy with my new BH550 - I did not try it at gig or rehearsal yet but it sounds great with my RS210 and RS212 with same levels of my Mark Bass LMII. Also it allows me to sell the previous amp, the practice amp, the tuner, the chorus and the fuzz. The only complain I have is that the two Tone-Print effects are mutually exclusive.
4. And the answer is: no, she is not using flats. She replied to me: "The strings I’m using are Marcus Miller DR Fatbeams" By the way, I like the flat D'Addario XL Chrome - just had to tight the neck nut to compensate for the extra tension. I will try the Fatbeams in the other bass when will change the Elixir.
5. Hi Pete, yes, sure :-) My question is: is she using flat wound strings to get such a warm and defined sound?
6. two P, inverted position, yes. And the sound is soo warm and defined. It seems to me they are flat? I just ordered some D'Addario Chromes XL, to try if that is the right direction. Will update here. But nobody that has an idea?
7. Hi, I just found this great Joe Cocker Live on you tube and I'm amazed by the sound of his bass player, Oneida James. Does anyone has an idea of which strings (model/gauge) she uses? I know this is only one piece of the cake but still it is a piece of the cake :-) Cheers, Andrea
8. Hi Dave, thanks for being in touch. from my understanding the games are still open, I passed them your number. thanks, Andrea
9. Reload (www.reloadrocks.co.uk) cover band is looking for a new bass player. I'm leaving due to other interests and family needs. I enjoyed the band but I can't commit to all the gigs they would like to and I'm here posting to help them finding a replacement. You can have a look at the band website, as per link above to see the booked gigs till end 2013. My plan is to leave as soon as a new bass player can jump it, so hurry up if you are keen to be part of those dates already :-) Reload is 5 piece covers band (bass, vox, guitar. keys and drums) based around Andover, Winchester and Salisbury area with gigs in the area with participation to Festivals as well. Practices are in Andover; they're experienced gigging musicians and very good guys. The band has their own PA, lights and quality gear. The music is cover Rocks and in a transition phase to refresh the current set list. In terms of commitment, rehearsal 3-4 times a month with 3/4 gigs a month as well. Cheers, Andrea
10. Wow, really interesting; I subscribed to your channel as well thanks a lot
11.
I've just emailed them asking what set they'd like to do. I'll keep you posted.
Great. Push a bit. Any day is gold to go through the set list :-)
12. Very interesting... do you mind sending me the song list for the gig please? The youtube links points at nearly 30 songs ;-)
13. Hi Freddie, Would be nice to have a "ping" to understand if this thing is going to work :-)
14. Finger crossed and let me know if you feel it is neck diving or not. This is reason I returned to 1205 instead of ordering another 1605.
15. Thanks guys for your comments I confirm that the SR1605 was sensibly neck diving compared to the two SR1205 I tested: the top is not a thin layer, is probably thicker than 1/2 cm; so the difference is tangible. To buy online or not... well, the Premium series isn't so widely available; I called a "bass only" shop and asked them do you have it? No, but if you pay 20% of the value we can order it, probably in three weeks it will be here, you then come to try it and if you don't like we give you a voucher for that 20%. What? I realized I have more than 10 successful orders with Thomann so far, including my Ibanez SRA505. Regarding the issue with the just arrived SR1205, I touched here and there and found a poor contact in one of the wires of the "high" pot. (could be due to the transport; the cardboard box arrived with the top half open). Anyway, now that is solved. I will keep this bass - "Celebration"!!! I think Mr. Ibanez has a serious issue with the quality of the Premium series; two failures out of three is not a great result. I personally expect an industrial product to be an industrial product not that piece of raw wood as that SR1605 ... I'm still wondering how it could have passed Ibanez quality checks... Quality? Checks? Now is already tomorrow... rushing to sleep, got enough emotions today
16. Yes... I was joking as well ;-) Clearly you can't guess what is wrong because "you can't hear it", actually I can't here it as well: there is NO f***ing SOUND if the EQ is on!!! And don't ask if the battery is ok, I've clearly checked. So could be a wire is not connected but the liuthier I dropped an email said "I won't touch it because if I can't fix it, well, they will tell you your warranty is invalid now"
17. wrong.... you can easily see all 5 of them are there
18. Ola', so now I returned the SR1605 and received the SR1205. No neck dive, perfect. All finitures are ok, all 5 bridges are into the top and not on the surface. Great great but... ops.. no wait... I have to return it as well Let you try to guess what is wrong this time....
19. Ok, thanks xgsjx for the instructions. The entire "orror" set is available here (if you click on any picture you will go to flickr page with bigger images):
20. how to post pictures directly on the forum? The one I posted above is actually a link to my facebook page. I would like to post here some other pictures of the SR1605 I took.
21. Thomann accepted a full refund and collection at zero cost. sr1205 ordered. This is definitely last chance for me with this Premium line *worst ever choosen name!!!
22. Not sure if this thread is still active, I got no reply to my post - or maybe I'm just to bad :-)
23. SR1605 arrived today Will return it tomorrow, it's too neck diving for me (just checked and poplar is nearly half the weight of ovangkol) and probably this is an explanation why a 1606 doesn't exist: a six strings will be too neck diving to be acceptable. And honestly the quality of the details is just acceptable I will order a 1205 instead.
