1.
I was thinking to a micro pedal with a Rat/DS1 distortion perhaps with a frequency-based clipping... what do you think?
I like the sound of that. I like my Rat distortion (in a blend to get the low end back), but I dont have space for it on my board anymore. I loved using it on a fairly low gain setting for gritty aggression.

  2. Very helpful reviews there. Ive been looking into these pedals recently and im hoping to order one or two once one of my sales goes through.

How high does the gain go on the micro rd? Im on the look for an overdrive at the moment. I want something fairly low gain, but I have a Cream Pie boost for that little breakup warmth. Does this pedal go above that?

  3. I think if you dont use effects much or have few needs for them, this is a useful little unit.

I bought mine essentially as an entry to effects pedals, and from there I learnt what I could do with them and the types of sounds I liked and wanted. I started picking up single pedals one by one as I wanted something better quality to my ears, and something that suited my sound with more switching and combination options. Now ive ended up a bit of an effects junkie and ive got way too many, but the Zoom was definitely useful when starting off.

  4. I got one around December. I havnt gigged with it or tried out the DI, but I do love the sound of it on a low gain setting. Really warm and fat with a bit of grit. The overdrive is ok, but I have other pedals I prefer over it, mainly due to size.

Im actually considering selling mine as I need funds for others purchases. I like it, but I dont have the space for it on my board as its quite bulky.

  5. Have you tried blending any of your distortion pedals? I always use my dirt pedals with a blender now, I feel lost if I dont.

Saying that, most of the time I only use a subtle drive as its what fits the song, despite the urge to go full on fuzz half the time.

  6. Id have to start with my personal basics which would be a tuner, for obvious reasons, a compressor, and some sort of DI pedal just incase this island has PA I can put my signal through.

Id have a Line 6 M9 to cover all my modulation needs, loads of options there.

Then the rest would probably be 3 different stages of dirt and a blender to run them through. Id easily be sorted with that I reckon.

  7. I know how you feel. Its a vicious cycle and my individual pedals are slowly growing again.

The M9 for me was planned to cut down my pedalboard too, and it generally has. Then I started to fill up again with various dirt pedals to go alongside the M9. While most of it worked i didnt like the order of my new board. Like I wanted two of the options on my M9 first, then some dirt, then some more on the M9, then one or two pedals at the end, blah blah. That starting making me want individual pedals back so I could get the order exactly how I wanted, but I really dont want a huge pedalboard again because of the hassle.

  8. Why the change of mind?

I keep trying to downsize my pedalboard, but theres always things I always end up wanting. I tried having a basics board but then I missed the fun stuff when it wasnt there, when it was there I didnt use it so much. I bought an M9 as a compromise and that kept me content for a while, but now im missing having all my individual effects again.

  9. A DHA is more likely to get you a QOTSA sound. The valves will give you more of a warm, grittier sound.

The Blowtorch is more like a synthy, electric fuzz. Its still a good pedal and retains a good powerful low end, but it doesnt sound like what you're after to me.

  10. Just the flanger left now. Ive withdrawn the crybaby as ive had the urge to use it again and try some things out. Typical. Im also missing all my individual effects now theyre gone, I just have to keep telling myself im doing it for convenience and money...yeah.

  11.
Good grief! Those ARE interesting. How much are looking for for each?
Probably £150 each for the Mammoth and DHA. A deep Impact went on here recently for £350, so im probably looking just under that at £330.

After downsizing my board i just dont use these pedals much anymore, so ive been thinking recently about cashing in on them.

  12. Im so tempted to buy one of these. I can sell my current amp for about the same price as a new bass terror, so theres no money problem. Im just not sure about its versatility. Then again i only play varied stuff at home when I want to learn different things, gig wise its pretty much alt rock and I want something with some balls!

Im planning on getting a 2x15 too, you'll have to let me know how that goes.
