1. Thanks both I'll try and get hold of one of these to test out!
2. Are you selling this with the travel cover too?
3. Hey, I recently picked up one of these basses (the 5 string V7) and I'm really happy with it, but I just have it in an old soft bag which I'm a little nervous about throwing in the back of a van. I was wondering if anyone else has this bass and has found a good hardcase that fits it well? Any advice appreciated. Cheers, Jonathan
4. Hi all, NoirBass was the first in line for the VT, so it's sold pending for now. Thanks, Jonathan
5. Hi all, I've got a couple of pedals to sell: [s]Tech 21 VT Bass - £60[/s]- SOLD!!! [s]This is a famous little pedal and it's served me well. I'm selling as I have purchased it's bigger brother the programmable deluxe one and so I don't see the need to hang on to this one too. As you can see from the pictures, I've lost the little plastic cover for the battery compartment but it's otherwise fine.[/s] [s]MXR M89 Bass Overdrive - £85 [/s]- SOLD!!! [s]This is a really nice little overdrive pedal from MXR. Again I'm selling it because I feel like I can get pretty decent-sounding overdrive sounds from my deluxe VT pedal and so can't really justify hanging on to this either. It's in super good condition as I've not owned it for very long and it's never even been gigged. I've got the box and papers and everything it came with, as you can see in the pictures attached.[/s] The prices quoted are including postage and packaging, which I feel is fair. I'm not particularly interested in trades to be honest, but I'll listen to offers! Cheers, Jonathan
6. If you do split this I'd be interested in the cabinet! Cheers, Jonathan
7. Wilco bought an MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe from me. Easy to organise with over PM and he even came direct to my flat to pick it up! Nice guy and reliable too, good communication throughout. Thanks man!
8. Hi all, Who fancies taking this off my hands? It's in good condition as you can see from my photographs and I've got the box and manual and other bits and pieces that came with it. It's a really nice pedal (the dry/wet mix knobs are especially cool) but for my needs I think I made a mistake going for another fuzz pedal as I already have an Oxide and I'd be much better off with more of a straight overdrive kind of pedal. As such I'd be interested in possible trades, maybe for something like the new MXR Bass Overdrive pedal which looks quite nice, or something similar. Otherwise £85 posted seems fair. If you're going to be in and around the Bristol/Bath area for any reason then you can collect it for just £80 and save me yet another boring trip to the post office. I've had no luck selling this little guy through other channels for various reasons which is rather baffling considering I think it's a sweet pedal (as do the reviews I've seen online). Hopefully it'll be more popular with you denizens of basschat. If so I'll learn my lesson and come here first next time! Cheers, Jonathan
9. The cab is now sold - thanks for all the interest.
10. Hi guys, I wonder if there's any interest in this cab? I bought it a while ago from another Basschatter as a back-up to my main 6x10 cab and for when I couldn't move or didn't need a cab that big. Speaker-wise it's got a 12 plus a 6 plus a tweeter with separate controls for mids and treble. It's 500w and 8 ohms. It's in good condition apart from the 'Dr. Bass' logo from the front of the cab is missing. I don't have any photographs right now unfortunately but I can take some later in the week if there's some interest shown in the cab. It sounds good to me and all those separate controls are interesting, but I find that I've never actually taken it to a gig and I hardly ever use it for anything and it seems a shame for it to just be sat there - especially when I could really do with the money for other stuff! I'm based in the Bristol/Bath area and ideally I'd like for somebody to be able to collect it if possible. £120 is what I paid for it and as that was a very good price at the time and it's hardly been used since then I feel that's a fair amount to ask for it again now. Cheers, Jonathan
11. So as I thought I didn't really have much time at all to play with this before the show but I ended up leaving the VT out of my chain and having the CL set with pretty high gain, bass at about 10 o'click (seemed a little boomy otherwise), mid-freq 4 boosted a touch, and treble at about 2 o'clock. It didn't really sound how I was hoping to be able to sound, but it was pretty OK and cut through the mix nicely. Thanks for all the input, much appreciated.
12. OK cool thanks both - I'll just put everything flat and see how it goes.
13. Hi guys, Just a quick question really for any of you guys who run this amp - do you have any 'quick-win' tips for the settings I should be aiming for? I'll be using this with a matching 8x10 at a festival this weekend and I've never used one before in any context. Just a bit worried about not having much time to fiddle with it during our sound-check. I actually run a Tech-21 VT pedal through my solid-state amp usually in order to get some of that nice subtle break-up and clang to my playing, which I guess is fairly aggressive and with fingers so I'd like to think I could re-create that with the real thing. Anyway maybe it's not worth worrying about and that tone is super-easy to dial in, in which case tell me to shut it and stop worrying, but otherwise any tips would be much appreciated!
14. Thanks Dave - they're nice little cabs for sure. They've almost been sold a couple of times but it's not worked out yet for various reasons. I can't really afford to drop the price any more than I already have done unfortunately. John - fingers crossed for your sale man!
15. Hey John, I'm actually pretty well set for smaller cabs even without these Aguilars, I can't really justify swapping them for another one. I should probably reflect that in the original advert actually, sorry! Thanks for the offer though. Cheers, Jonathan
16. Bump for revised content and price drop - both cabs now for sale @ £450
17. Thanks very much for your detailed reply! My EQ is generally just set pretty flat. I'm using a Mark Bass LMII so I will then fiddle with the filters. I've tried rolling off some of the bass to help with this issue but it doesn't seem to help much - I still have the same sound where, once the compressor's turned on, the lower notes just sound weak and farty. My experience with compressors begins and ends at fiddling with the on-screen ones you get in Pro Tools. I don't *really* know what I'm doing as such, but having all the dials and graphs and things is a huge help and I usually find I can get the sound I'm after. On the pedal, with no visual reference, I find it much harder to tell what's going on and why. Anyway I'll be at rehearsals later this week so I'll sit down and have a go again, following your advice this time. Hopefully I'll manage to get it sounding OK in the mix...
18. Hi guys, Bit of a dumb newbie question but I was wondering if anyone who uses one of these pedals could give me a bit of advice. I basically bought one with the intention of using it to help even out the volume levels between my strings. I play an active 5 and I find that, unless I want to totally suck all the bass and meat out of my tone, the low B and E strings tend to be a lot louder than the others. What I really was hoping for was to be able to bring the overall volume of the strings a bit closer together without losing any of the meat. Anyway I'm struggling to really get that effect, I seem to only succeed in squashing the life out of the low notes entirely, even with the threshold turned right down anti-clockwise. I can then boost the levels, but this adds extra noise that I could do without. I feel like I'm probably just not using it right and was interested in the sort of settings other people are using with it, or if they've had any similar experiences? Cheers! Jonathan
