1. PRICE DROP: £590 Selling my beloved Mesa Fathom. This is a seriously loud all-tube preamp head with a huge amount of tone shaping at earth shattering volumes, unbeatable build quality and more headroom than you'd ever need. Collection from Brighton hugely preferred, or I am happy to meet in person. I canalso post at buyers expense if needed. Wattage - 600 Watts @ 4 or 2 Ohms / 320 Watts @ 8 Ohms Power Amp Type - Trans-Class™ Power w/8 Power MOSFET's & 8/4 or 2 Ohm Impedance Switch Preamp - Vacuum Tube Preamp w/ 1x Mesa 12AX7 In the last 10 years it's been used at the odd local show, mainly used for recording or home use. Never had an issue live or elsewhere. Serviced twice by MJ Still in Lancing, always came back with a clean bill of health, it's been well looked after.
 2.
I'm guessing theres not enough tension in your string if you are using an E string detuned to C. Try a higher tension set of strings - maybe something like DR Low Riders, a 5 string set (45-125), but as you are detuning the whole lot, use the 65, 85, 105 and 125 and not bother with the 45. Should you not be detuning the whole lot (I'm not sure what you are doing tuning wise - are you just dropping the E string or the whole lot?) and just the lowest string, then just replace what you have for a B string and go from there (although you can't get separate DRs off the shelf).
I'm happy with the tension and sound of the 3 higher strings, so I'd really like to up the low string to a 120, but I'm not sure the standard nut on the P bass can handle that, may have to file the nut? I'm also gonna try slightly adjusting the pickup height for the meanwhile.
 3. Hi all, Been having a lot of trouble trying to get my low string to cut through and have as much presence as the equivalent notes on other strings. It's quite noticeable at band practice and on stage, and its starting to really bother me! For this project, I use a MIJ P-bass tuned down to C, using GHS Bass Boomers 50-115, and I'm wondering if its these particular strings? It's the only set I've ever used after having this bass for a couple of months. I've tried slightly adjusting the action on the lower string, but for the most part the bass is set up perfectly and feels great. Could it be pickup height? I'm so confused! Thanks.
 4.
He probably never made it out alive from the first full bore test...
He was the bassist in my vocalist's last band, and from various reports, yes it got built!
 5. Ok, I'll keep an eye out for that as I'd definitely be interested in the head.
 6. Seriously interested in this, live in East Sussex. Let me know!
 7. Better than an Ampeg Classic 115? There's nowhere near when I can try one to compare, just wondering if anyone has tried both?
 8. Im seriously thinking about it, I can get the OBC 115 for around £250, not sure how much I would get for an Ampeg Classic 115 cab? I'd have to get the cab in black though, or else my rig would like some kind of messed up chocolate bar.
 9.
Blimey, this thread doesn't move very quickly, does it?! Feeler for trade: 2011 American Standard Precision. 3 colour sunburst, Tort pickguard, rosewood fingerboard. Wanted: Jazz bass A little while ago I sold my Squier Precision Special and bought the above MIA Precision. But after a month of ownership I've realised that it was the Jazz-like features of that bass that made me like it so much. I find that the bass I pick up to play is always my MIM Jazz. So I'd like to trade the Precision for an 'interesting' Jazz bass. On my wish list are the following

Definitely not black, unless it has a maple fingerboard, and even then, probably not
Probably not 3 colour sunburst (I have a MIM Jazz in this colour)
My ideal bass is a Japanese '75 in Vintage White or Natural.
I'd consider a non-Fender Jazz.
Anyone have a J and want a P? My Precision is absolutely mint. To the extent that it still has the plastic film on the pickguard (including Fender sticker) and the dustbin/CE stickers on the neck plate! It's perfect. I will take some pics if anyone is interested? Edit: pics below. Apologies for the harsh artificial light. It magnifies swirl marks that are much harder to see with the naked eye. Some fibres from the rug got on the bass too, they're not scratches!
No chance of a direct sale on this mate?
 10. I currently have an Ampeg 90's SVT 3 with matching 210 and 115 classic cabs. I've been playing through the Orange Ad head, 4x10 and 115 set up alot recently, the head is great, but what really gets me is the 115 cab, the sheer force that thing creates really adds so much depth to the sound, im seriously considering selling the Ampeg 115 classic cab, and getting an Orange OBC 115 to go with the rig. The thing is, although it matches the head for power and all that, is it a good idea to mix an Ampeg head and 210 cab with another orange 115? Anyone have any experience of matching these two makes together in this way? Im sure many people will tell me to stick with the Ampeg set up, but im intrigued. Thanks guys!
