8. If anyones interested as new but not for me ! 4 strings more than enough http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=270252645725
9. Hi after being messed around on ebay for the second time around with this thought I would offer it here, will swap for jap precision bass JV pref but here,s description as per ebay listing ( I did not build this by the way so Im no good on how and why questions !! Hand wired "boutique" guitar combo Single ended, ecc83, el84 all hand wired, turret board component mounting. based on the excellent Ampmaker SE5 chassis look here for full details & sound clips etc... http://www.ampmaker.com/index.asp This amp was upgraded with a Mullard ecc83 pre amp valve that really brings out the best in this amp's already great tone & musicallity & it is I feel a match for any of the brand name boutique amps that are so popular now (but not in the selling price) These amps attract consistently excellent reviews:- http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...maker/SE5a/10/1 This amp is fully loaded with the "plexi" style panels front & rear & vintage style "chicken head" control knobs. All components are high quality including the custom designed transformers, ceramic valve bases, turret board wiring with clear, uncluttered chassis for easy servicing/upgrading if required. Top panel controls/inputs are :- input jack, mains on/off, standby on/off, gain, bass, mid, treble, master vol. Rear panel controls :- IEC mains input, speaker jack x 2 8ohm, 16ohm. What does it sound like ? A cross between a early vox AC 15/30 & a Marshall JTM t smooth & sweet at lowish volumes turning into a raunchy rocker when driven hard that completely belies it's "only" 5 watt output. A listen to the sound files on the Ampmaker site will give an idea of what I mean. Connect up to a good 4x12 cabinet, turn up the gain & vol to max to get the valves working hard & just watch the faces of those watching when you drop into the conversation a phrase like "not bad for a 5 watter then ?" Fitted into a professionally made deluxe unmarked cabinet finished in a very cool looking "ox blood" tolex with contrasting gold vents & speaker grills this amp looks as good as any of the high priced alternatives available today (just waiting to be personalised with your own name plate/badge) I have a two speakers for this amp A:- a vintage 12"wharfdale that has a sweet, deep melodic sound, ideal for Country/Jazz/Shadows/Blues style of music B:- a 12" Celestion neo Century speaker that is mega loud (103db efficiency) more suited to rock with it's spectaculer dynamics & energy The winning bidder gets both ISizes are W22", H20" & D11" weight 25kg also included is a spare set of valves
10. £96 thats less then I would have expected, I used to paint motorcycles and was always amazed at the lack of understanding of the work involved in even a so called easy job ,by people bringing there bikes in. Once explained and demonstrated the penny would usally drop its not easy, takes skill to do a good job, but takes ** all effort to do a poor cheap one which would you prefer?
11. Thanks everybody Some good advice much appriciated guess I,m gonna keep my Cort, by the way that u tube clip is superb I remember AWB from 1st time around guess what CD I,m after today! and as an aside Ive spent my amp budget on markbass 250 combo as reviewed on here looks like im all set to go! Cheers All
12. Hi All Cort GB 94 active coil split etc. Bought this a couple of weeks back paid £500 my dilemma is this. As someone new to bass playing have I bought the wrong bass ? ie to many bells and whistles, variables etc. It was a choice between this and a Fender Jag bass and I went for bling and the fact it sounded great when it I heard it being played by some one else in shop. Some how think I would have been better off with non active P bass or the Jag. I hate joining forums then selling something straight away but feel that I should go back start again with a simpler option (for me anyway) It may appear in for sale forum soon as a trade for P Bass or jazz unless I'm being a numpty and should just persevere ? 13. Hi just bought first bass last week after my 12 year old had borrowed a 1983 JV precision squire from a his mates Dad to see how he liked it he decided it was to hard(he plays guitar)! I on the other hand really thought it was the biz, I also play guitar but have decided its bass from now on! bought a Cort GB 94 after trading one of my Strats for it now looking to get a decent amp. Have 1st lesson booked for tuesday oh and Im based in Essex which from reading some posts on here is full of bass players looks like Im in good company.
