Fair question ... it doesn't have a tweeter so I guessed it might be Gen 1, but I suppose Gen 2 is possible. I rather lost track of the genetic history. B|

Doesn't really change anything, I'm not about to add £50 to the price or anything. xD

Funnily enough I've now had a few quotes from couriers through Shiply and the cheapest one is about £50! I'm still interested if I can sort the logistics out though Jack.

Electra’s a good basses, yes they are assembled in the East but all final Quality control is done at the ‘Home’ in Germany.

Excellent Customer Service which @CameronJ can confirm.

He had a second hand minimum bass, tuning peg broke on it, he emailed Sandberg and the owner Holger replied personally and they sent out a replacement tuner Free of charge, remember this is their budget range!

To me they are no brainers @dood did a great review on their VS4 Electra, and there are a few around on eBay and gumtree at the moment.

PMT usually have a stock, if you have one near you try one out, then you can decide if you want one second hand

Saw this one for sale in Chichester on Gumtree. Under @Elfrasho's budget and looks like a lot of bass for the money but more importantly has a slimline neck...

Everything I read says the 4-button footswitch is included with "The Stage".  That should help you work through your setlist, right?

I have a 4-button footswitch I use with my Fender B-DEC 30 bass amp to speed change between different model sounds at some gigs.  It's been a great little workhorse for over a decade now!  Can't wait for "that gig" where I need to put the B-DEC's line out into my Rumble 500!!  (My poor man's Stage wannabe.  )

Yep the Fender MGT-4 footswitch comes with the Stage 800 and is an optional extra for the Studio 40. I'm still working my way through that one too... :crazy:image.thumb.jpeg.3b2c8f4afc7ecc8ff53450f82b6ac502.jpeg

I can see that might be useful. So does it depend on whether you're in a covers band or not? When I've been in covers bands I found a tone I liked and used it for everything, concentrating on getting the playing right... but I can see the attraction. How far down this road do you go, though? Will the guitarist, drummer and singer now be expected to somehow change and adapt what they're doing on a song-by-song basis? Would that even be desirable?

What's the logical development of this technology? A modelling desk and PA that automatically changes the band's individual sounds per a pre-programmed setlist to an approximation of the original song's instrument sounds and mixes? Would this be very far away from just playing the original recordings, jukebox-style?

If it happens everyone will need to be right on the money, as it would surely put everyone's playing under the microscope...

Most of what we play is the same old 💩 so I'll use similar settings for a lot of the set but I'll vary the tones for different genres. At least it saves me having to keep changing instruments like the f***ing guitarists do every other song!

Oo-er, missus. I found that when I used a Zoom B1on as an always-on preamp, I gravitated towards one sound that I liked (consisting of a combination of amp sims, cab sims, SansAmp sim, compression and noise gate) and I used that for everything as it sounded truly great. Do you think the Stage will likely be used in the same way or will people bother to select and change sounds for different songs, or what?

If the former, it would seem a bit crazy to have all that capability, find one sound you like, then use that sound exclusively. When this happens with a £40 stomp box it's not an issue, but when you're obviously buying into the Fender modelling-amp thing..?

I intend to use different sounds for different songs and you can create your own setlist (see graphic). Playing in a typical pub covers band we have to play a wide variety of songs from funk to punk so having that versatility will be invaluable. I just haven't had enough time and practice yet to tailor it to all my preferences so I picked a preset I liked that worked for most of the set then just used the tonal and pickup variations on my Sandberg for each song.

  6. I used my new Stage 800 live for the first time last night at a gig near Bolton and the whole band - even the drummer - complemented me on the sound. There are so many different settings and options but I found one that gave me the perfect right blend of vintage vibe I like with a bit of mid tone punch which is curiously called "young lust"! :D

There's a lot more info on this amp on the Fender shop site:

    Fender Rumble Stage 800

Slightly hi-jacking the thread, having bought one of these and knowing that the output is 400w with the two internal 10" speakers but up to 800w (hence the name) with an extension cab, any suggestions for a lightweight cab that might complement the 2 x 10s, look similar in black (so no Markbass or silver grill Rumble cabs for example), handle the extra 400w and have a similar footprint so I can stack the Stage 800 on top?

    Here are the specifications:

    Height:23.7” (60.2cm)

    Width:19” (48.3 cm)

    Depth:14” (35.56 cm)

    Weight:39 lbs. (17.7kg)

I remembered I had an old TC Electronics 210 cab in the garage so I dusted it off and it has a remarkably similar footprint to the  Stage 800 so that'll do until I can source a second hand Barefaced cab to match or wait for the inevitable new Fender Rumble cabs to follow. Mind you I'm sure the combo with 400w on tap without a cab will be fine for most of the pubs and clubs we play.

What happens when the electronics go on the blink, once the warranty is over? Or 5 years from now Fender no longer provide downloadable updates for these amps. The problem with the amp and guitar/bass business model is that amps and guitars have a very long lifespan. If you get a guitar or amp you like, you probably won't buy a new one for years/decades..

Successful manufacturers always make sure their products are obsolescent within a few years, so that people have to replace their phone, car,  computer, computer program, operating system at regular intervals.

Maybe Fender are getting in on the 'built in obsolescence' bandwagon, with these type of amps. How many of them will be out there and working properly in 5 or 10 years time?

The Rumble Stage 800 cost me £729. If it lasts a decade I'll be delighted as that's about 20p a day!

    @rushscored4 @Elfrasho

Yep just seen that, and if you are interested.......

Its overpriced, his description is wrong it’s not delano pups, defo Sandberg in House pick ups, i’d hardly call a strap ‘plus extras’, it’s a 3rd hand bass minimum, plus I know that he has hiked the price he paid for it a few weeks ago, so he is gaming it quite hard, and he should know they are about 4kg.

They should be about £900 regardless of recen price hike IMO, and that is fair for a wonderful bass.

To get a Sandy closer to £700 you would be looking at one without ageing done, that is of course personal preference. A TT (jazz) bass has a neck but width of about 39mm and is still slim and nice, there is not a lot in it, you may struggle for under £700 for a Sandy, but you may get lucky.

If you are interested in a DK, and want to know more I will happily oblige, shoot me a pm

I already have an aged California TM4 in blue mate, a fabulous bass which cost me a lot more than that DK though!

    37mm at the nut

very slim and fast with a great feel all around, it pushes your budget though

There's an early one from 2012/13 just listed on eBay today but it's £1,100 which is way above @Elfrasho's budget. You should be able to pick up plenty of other s/h Sandbergs for under £700 though.

These look great and I can't wait to upgrade from my V3 500 combo. I'm all about convenience these days & if I can ditch my B3 & a cable or two I'll be very happy.

Do wish they'd kept the silver grille tho :(

I've got the original Rumble 100 in black, the V3 Rumble 100 with the silver grill and now the Rumble Stage 800 and I prefer the new models in black. All a matter of personal taste I s'pose!

Looks like they are now out in the shops, anybody tried/bought yet?

Yep, my Stage 800 arrived on Monday so I'm still getting to grips with the 100+ preset models, tones and various effects! It's got all the classic amp sounds from Fenders own Bassman and Rumble amps to Ampeg, GK, Orange and Marshall. The little bit of noodling I've done so far has been useful - for example there's a classic vintage tone labelled as Motown based on a "Rockin' 'peg" Ampeg which I'm sure I'll use for gigging.

You can edit and save your own sounds too and create your own set lists to use at gigs with the included footswitch. As I said in the other thread, once I've got to grips with the Stage 800 and gigged it this weekend I'll do a proper review.

Ive just ordered a vintage (the brand) v4 reissue. They seem to have very good reviews and theres an excellent video on youuube comparing it against a usa precision. They sounded very close.

At £230 ish with wilkinson bridge, tuners and pickups it has to be worth considering. Pound for Pound.

I already have a Vintage Jaco Pastorius lookalikey jazz bass which only cost me £130 second hand but is excellent. Looks cool as f*** too... in fact now I come to think of it I might use it at my next gig on Saturday!

How did this work out for you? I'm trying to find a list of amp models and effects for this but I'm struggling!

Arrived yesterday, not had much time to play with it and the latest version of the Fender Tone app with the Rumble tones added was only released today. There were 100 already preset on the amp and a further 9 already added from other users after I installed the app. I'll see if there's anyway of downloading the list but if not I'll add some screenshots here.

  16. I have both the Fender Rumble 100 and the TCE BG250-208 and although on paper the Fender only has 40% of the wattage of the TCE I personally think it's louder. They're both lightweight and you can add extension cabs but the Fender doesn't have the Toneprint function or a tuner like the TCE.

I also have a couple of Ampeg amp heads but I'm not sure any of your options will give you the clarity you might need from your Kala U-bass. Gallien-Krueger get great reviews but my advice would be to go to store that stocks them all, take your basses and try them out.

The Mustang has been universally panned as a platform for guitar. Not Sure modified flawed platform is a good start for a design.

It's all subjective isn't it? I've read good and bad reviews of the Mustang amps but generally all the reviews for the Rumble bass series have been good and I've owned two 100s myself. The Stage 800 uses a modified version of the Mustang/Fender Tone software for bass so there are hundreds of pre-set amp models, tones and effects and you can save your own. Add that into a lightweight combo with wifi, Bluetooth, a footswitch and 800w available - all for £728 in my case.

Whether it will be a better choice than the Blackstar Unity 500 or something like the Gallien-Krueger MB212 only time will tell!

Fair comment but you knew what I meant! The one on eBay for £1,150 is a 2013 I think which would make me 5 not 55 this year...

They dropped the price to £999.99 last night and somebody bought it straight away. Got a bargain there I think but makes you wonder how little the poor sod who pawned it must have received.

  19. 3 hours ago, Delberthot said:

really? You were working at home because of the weather but complained because the delivery driver couldn't get to you because of the weather?

No. I was complaining because they'd promised me next day delivery 24 hours earlier. The problem wasn't with the couriers who were delivering as normal in my area (there's hardly any snow here) it was because the suppliers hadn't sent the amp but nobody from Rich Tone checked until I called them.

  20. Looks the part and cheap as chips so you can't really go wrong. Never heard of Jack & Danny before, I'm not sure if that's really the names of the owners or the Germans have discovered a sense of humour as it's Cockney rhyming slang for part of a woman's anatomy!

  21. The Rumble Stage 800 didn't arrive yesterday unfortunately so I politely emailed Jack in customer services at Rich Tone to express my disappointment, complaining that I'd stayed in all day (I was working from home with the weather anyway...) and how I'd now seen them cheaper at GAK and Absolute Music at £738 compared to their £769. Got a nice response apologising, saying the amp's on its way ("problem with the supplier") and as a goodwill gesture they will only charge me £728 which is fair enough but I've got to wait until Monday for delivery now!
