  1. My 1212L has had a hard life, and like a fool I never bothered getting a roqsolid cover for it.

The rat fur is living up to its name and is now rather ratty. It has pilled up in some areas like an old woolly jumper, and seems to have grabbed it’s weight in dust, fluff, hair, and other detritus. If it was tolexed or had a tuffcab finish it would probably clean up with a wipe of a damp cloth, but the rat fur is not so easy to clean. Ideally I’d like to strip off the rat fur and tuff-cab it, but that is probably more of an involved process than I can undertake at the moment so I want to spruce it up—and then once it is clean & tidy I’ll order a roqsolid cover.

Any tips for cleaning it up from anyone who has done similar?

I’m planning to hoover it first, maybe after brushing it with a semi-soft brush, then use the sticky side of some gaffa tape like a lint roller to get more stubborn dirt/dust out of it, then a wipe down with a damp cloth.—Does that sound like a reasonable way to approach the job? How should I tackle the pilled areas? Would something like a JML Bobble-off shaver for jumpers work?

These each come with a second pickguard/scratchplate.

The Orange one comes with a brilliant white scratchplate and an alternative black scratchplate.

The Black one comes with a creamy ivory scratchplate and an alternative tortoiseshell scratchplate.

Swapping the scratchplate for one in a different colour doesn't solve the problem that the scratchplate shape is a hideous abomination. Surely including a second one with a less fugly shape would be a better idea?

An oily ole egg with a red peg leg
Thought a porcupine was his daughter
    But he soon found out
    That she had the gout
    And often would wink underwater
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Ho ho ho ho ho ho ho
He he he he he he he
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
A red red rose saw a big pig pose
On the edge of a silver dollar
    The end of his tail
    Was a long-necked nail
And in place of his face was a scholar

I personally believe that there is nothing wrong in being supportive of your own country. We have fantastic engineers and manufacturers here. Ashdown, Barefacef, Status, etc

It doesn’t automatically make you a racist to want to support these talented people. Just my 2 cents/Pennies!

No one said anything to suggest that owners of these amps would be racist, so I don't know where that came from. Also surely buying PRC-made Ashdown products is also supporting this great British company.

  5. There's no benefit in having the the anniversary edition over a new EVO IV. It is probably aimed at collectors and isn't likely to be taken out for a gig down the dog & duck. Maybe there are collectors who like to amass these things, but its not the kind of thing I'd be interested in. On the other hand maybe the 'Made in England' aspect would appeal to the kind of people who fly a St George's flag outside their house even when there isn't a football tournament on.
