    I use compression pretty much all the time. I think different pedals/devices make a huge difference though so I wouldn't rely on just one tryout. For me, the most important considerations are whether it affects your basic tone, and whether it lets you adjust the attack (the time it takes for the compressor to kick in), so that you can control how much the spikes will be affected and you can keep some dynamics. I had an EBS Multicomp and it changed my basic tone too much, for example. I'm quite happy now with a not too expensive Carl Martin Opto-compressor that adds a bit of treble, but in a pleasant way.

    For sale my USA MM Sterling in trans red, rosewood board. Extremely comfortable neck, and a good variety of tones from the 3-pos blade switch and 3-band eq. The body has dings in several places, all pictured below, otherwise excellent condition. I have two extra pickguards (tortoise shell, perloid) plus the cream one currently fitted. I am told that this bass has two characteristics worth mentioning: quartersawn neck and one piece body. I have no expertise to confirm this, but mentioned it is. Will ship in a standard gig bag but safely packaged. Shipping included in the price. Thanks!

    Hi FS my beautiful Korean-made Lakland Skyline Darryl Jones in black sparkle, maple board with binding and block inlays. Awesome passive bass! But I recently got two other basses so one (and the Kingbass!) has to go. This has the Lakland/Hanson pickups (I checked the wiring, must have been one of the first in the 2006-7 transition) and a tortoise shell pickguard (I'll include the original white pickguard as well). The control cavity has been shielded so it is a practically noise-free bass. Weight is 4 kg aprox. Condition is close to MINT, just some very slight scratches on the back of the body. Will be sad to see it go as it is a comfortable, resonant, great sounding and looking bass, but I really need to thin the herd! Serial nr is 0609xxxx Price is 800£ including shipping to EU, standard gig bag and extra white pickguard. Reduced to 750£. A lot of bass for the money in my opinion.
