1. Thanks! I think I shipped with strings at tension. The hard case is a standard Hiscox hard case, if that helps. Could excessive care (read bubblewrap) have put pressure on the neck away from the body?
2. Well it seems I just got unlucky with couriers lately... after many perfect shipments. So a perfectly ok bass arrived at its destination with this: For clarity, the area in question is the joint between body and neck, on the rear of the body. It looks like a lacquer crack? Apparently, the hard case and the external cardboard box arrived intact... I bubblewrapped the bass inside the case and the case inside the box as usual. So to shake away my stress over the whole situation, I thought I would take advantage of your wisdom: does anyone know how can this be produced in transit?? Package mishandled? Sudden temperature change? I have no idea... Anyone that can shed some light on what it is and how it can happen? It would help me in my discussions with the courier. Many many thanks!
3. Up it goes
4. If someone in the UK buys it and wants to sell (including a 50£ profit), I'd buy it to match my SGV guitar
5. Bump - open to consider trades
6. bump and down to 60£ as final price reduction for straight sale - may be interested in px for a Jamman Stereo looper too
7. Bump for a great bass. People drool over a 5k Fodera and this one goes unnoticed - the world is crazy. Look at that top wood! Glwts
8. Strong interest so this may not be here for long
9. Bump - will let it go for 1200£ but I am not prepared to go lower than that. It is an outstanding instrument
10. Bump - and price reduction to 1000£
11. Bump - now only 70£
12. To be totally honest, I beg to differ with most here - I'd go for a). It can make a world of difference to spend 300 or 700 (compared to, say, 1500 vs 3000). I have seen (and bought) many really excellent basses in the 700-1000£ range. Not so many by far in the 300£ range. Decent basses, yes, but not truly excellent. I spent a few years back then fighting instruments thinking that it was my fault, then discovering that a really good bass makes things a lot easier to play. Get a friend who knows the stuff to provide advice - also, crucially, on setting up the bass properly. Just my experience, in any case.
13.
... Would have prefered him taking the extra time to get it solid.
The fella took 14 years... 😀 I kinda strangely like Voodoo playing in the background, but I find it impossible to listen to it with any concentration... He loses me after 5-10 minutes every time...
14.
I have the exact same bass! It was my first decent instrument after my crappy second hand starter bass. I still take it to rehearsals once in a while. S.P.
Funnily, it was exactly the same for me! My first attempt at a 'proper' bass - keep it for sentimental reasons. I have the feeling that with a good pre like the OBP3 it might actually be excellent, I love its unplugged tone. But I can't be bothered to play with a soldering iron. Maybe I should try a U retro, but the rear cavity is rather small...
15. Bump for a beautiful bass - having second thoughts already... 😕
16. It's hopefully not going far away from you... 😊
17. So nice to see you here Vail. I don't remember how many times I listened to the Kubicki sound clips... Enjoy BC!
18. Bump for a fantastic fretless
