Sam, did you see the thread on the SessionBand Jazz version app? I think it's for Android and IOS.
I think that that one could probably draw you out of the fixed solutions thing you mention.
Sfar as I can see, it allows you to have short or long loops in all kinds of styles, and this, I'd gather, would force you to expand your horizon.

Mind ya, I haven't yet played enough with it to know whether one can change harmonic progressions in detail, but even if it doesn't allow you, I still think it can help.

    best,

I flicked through the thread a few days ago Bert, i'll download it and give it a try. Thanks! :)

  2. I've become more open minded with this question lately, with my guitarist being a sound engineer and him telling me how much DI makes his job easier..

Id say it gives me confidence in a way, I'd save for an amp for a while to be proud of it and have it behind me for everyone to hear and look at (and for gearheads to moan about how much i don't deserve such an amp ;) ) but you're correct.. What's the point of buying an SVT and lugging it round everywhere as opposed to a DI box which sounds like an SVT..

Slowly leaning toward to the DI option, but it just doesn't seem as cool :(

    I dont know :(

Looking at the Squier website, it seems that the CVs are styled on vintage instruments, whereas the VMs are supposed to be vintage styled instruments but "modded" (hence the name I guess! ) I think I was a bit confused because while I can see the modified aspect of things like the Strat with lipstick puckups and the Telecaster Bass Special, the Jaguars, Jazzmasters, Mustangs and the Precisions don't seem to really be modified in any way, they look like they'd fit better in the CV range. Is there much of a jump in quality between the two?

Thats a good point about the offsets, and I'm not really sure about the jump in quality, ive played both VM and CV squiers and they've both been amazing.:D

If you want something truly mad, take a look at the Fender Pawn Shop series! :)

Can you sing improvised stuff you want to hear? Either in your head or out loud.

  5. Hey Guys,

Looking for help from a few of you BC veterans ;)

Any useful resources for helping with Improvisation on the bass? I can improvise in basic terms i just feel i'm stuck in the same "box".

I'm self taught and have only ever learnt my basic pentatonic shapes which i adapted from guitar?

Any help would be appreciated :)

    Thanks,
    Sam
