...and how did it go? 😁

Ok, I’ve used it for some trad Irish music, a bit of Jazz and a few acoustic trios to simulate an upright which works pretty well.

I also used it a few times to play Fairytale of New York around the festive period at functions for the same reason.

I find it really uncomfortable to play with regular pizzicato for any length of time, so I’ve ended up just playing it with my thumb 👍🏻 - that just adds to the uprightness of the sound.

All that said, I’ve not taken it to a gig since the new year as it’s just extra baggage (I’m always looking to downsize where possible when packing for a gig) I suspect sadly it has ended up as a novelty item, but you never know I might have need of it on future gigs?

  2. I love the idea of it and it’s exactly the sort of tone I could use on the regular, but could probably do it with separates. The idea of an all in one solution is attractive though.

Also, it’s a limited run only available through Sweetwiter, so unless one turns up here 2nd hand I’m unlikely to ever get a chance to test drive it.

  3. Just bought an Xvive IEM system from Paul. Couldn’t have been easier. Prompt comms and postage. Item is as new as described.

    Perfect!

  4. Just picked up an EA Wizzy 10 cab from Clarky. We worked out It’s been 15 years since we last met to do a Basschat deal. Like the last time this was a very pleasant transaction on all fronts. Let’s hope it’s not another 15 years before it happens again.

  5. Just finished a very pleasant transaction with Marc. He purchased my Danelectro Longhorn reissue. I was able to get one on my friends to act as courier to meet Marc and do the exchange for me. All parties were pleased with the outcome which involved a lot of communication and trust, all which worked perfectly.

Thanks again for a hassle free sale Marc. Enjoy the bass!

  6. I’m sure I read somewhere that the analogue Boss pedals are always off when powered up and the digital ones are always on when powered up. I could however have miss remembered that? I’ve definitely started a few gigs with my octave pedal on which has lead to some funny looks from the rest of the band!

  7. Mine arrived today. On first play it was quite buzzy, in need of a setup I suspect - quite fun though.

However, plugging it in it sounded a whole lot better. Warm, rich low end and a decent, even articulate mid/top. It seems whoever was demoing the bass above left the tone control rolled full up, which does lead to it sounding horrible and scratchy. Set at midday or less allows the Uke to sound a lot like a standard bass particularly with its round wound strings.

I’m warming to it slowly and hoping it’ll be more than just a novelty ‘mini’ bass. I shall test it out on a gig later this week and report back. I’m pretty sure my band mates will hate it! 😆

  8. Just bought a Boss BCB-90x pedalboard from Ben. This is the 3rd item I’ve bought from him and as before it was as described, very well packed and arrived extremely promptly with excellent communication throughout.

    Highly recommended.
