  1. *** SOLD ***

For sale: Hartke Bass Attack VXL (box and user manual included)

Price: £50 if collected from Stevenage… or add £5 for postage to a UK address.

Harke features its tube emulation on this preamp… Personally, I try to use it sparingly… around 10 o’clock for the harmonics, and 10 o’clock for the mix.

Together with its DI feature, you’re all set to play.
Feel free to search the web for more details about this amazing gear.

If not because of my new gear(s), I won’t be selling this. Though I appreciate that everyone has their own taste when it comes to tone, this is a gear that I think I’ll GAS again in the future.

  2. Just posting this here for reference... from Mica's post in 2007, 15th of January...

"The Persuaders were originally the same as Spoilers but with our Activator electronics. Traditionally, a Persuader was about $200-300 less than a Spoiler for that reason.

The purpose was to showcase our Activators. There are Persuaders with PJ, JZ, and AXY pickups. There's some with only one pickup too. Controls were one or two volumes (depending on the number of pickups) and a single filter control.

We discontinued the Persuader because of the obvious confusion with the Spoiler basses."

I have no doubt you are correct about about the serial number. Just seems odd as I have only ever seen Persuaders with a PJ (and rarely JJ) configuration and Spoilers with the dual AXY pickups. Here are some marketing ads from Alembic in the 1990s. Doesn't actually matter much of course as its a lovely bass!!!! Again, GLWYS

    Thanks, @Clarky.

I think the controls (knobs/switches) between the persuader and the spoiler are different too.

This is the bass I played the most during my 2nd phase of gigging (2004 to 2015). When the pressure was on this instrument got the call.

I GAS'd for a Stambaugh before, and this is a beautiful bass. 👍

  6. Hi! I am Alex (@gyrusbass on social media) and I play the bass in our band, Robyn and the Hoods. This is my first time to post on this thread. I hope I am not encroaching any rules in this group as I do this.

We just released our first EP today, and I would like to share our music in this post. Packed with 5 tracks, this EP parades a palette of our music. We worked hard for this, and I hope our music would paint smiles to your ears.

If I may recommend, listen to the song "Reap What You Sow" as it transitions into the "Interlude" which I think is really cool. Bass-wise, I used my Pedulla MVP-5 in this EP.

Click here for the Spotify link (NRH by RATH)... but you can also stream this EP in all other digital streaming platforms.
I hope you'd like it. Stream now and enjoy!

I'm working on Donna Lee (just the head at the moment) and I can't seem to get the feel right. Whether I play it straight or swung it doesn't feel quite right when I play along with the Charlie Parker recording. Anyone know more about Bebop than me?

I can only share my approach. What I do is I play the chord changes against a metronome in a much slower tempo. Then, gradually build up on the speed. I would recommend that you make the clicks of the metronome sound good before increasing the tempo. Make it swing... and enjoy the journey! When you reach the target tempo, play with the recording. Good luck!

  8. Update:

I went to the post office and claimed my item today.
The outer box was not as I expected, so I opened it right away, just before heading back home.

Of course, I took some photos (see pics below).
Now, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! 😁

I emailed Dawson’s customer service, to send my thanks and to tell them that I have collected my order from the post office.

I also tried sending a thank you message to Dawson’s Facebook page but I am unable to send it.

When I checked, the same Dawsons Music Facebook page is currently unavailable.

    Thanks, @AndyTravis for your help.

    You’re the best!

I really do appreciate your assistance.

@BaldyBlues, as mentioned above, I received my purchase today by collecting it from the post office.
I hope your order will be (or has been) successful too.

Thank you to all the BC members who has replied to this thread.
    I felt supported.

To the admin, I guess you can now close this thread.

I wish everyone the best during the holidays!
