Keeping an eye out for the new Jap fender bass VI reissues as I've always wanted one. I'd like a new acoustic guitar as well as mine broke in october. Twas fixed but is just not the same!
-
-
I've started saving for the VI as of today. fingers crossed it'll be sensibly priced (compared to the old jap reissues that seem to be going for crazy money!)
-
anyone seen these? apologies but cant see a link on here to them.
saw them a few weeks ago on offset forum, I've been waiting for the day they reissue the jap bass VI's!

Would love to see it, but it's only being shown in the south east region.
Living in Hertfordshire, I don't think I can get it, so does anyone know how I can pick it up.
I have Virgin Media TV, and obviously Freeview.

it'll be on Iplayer.

Tim Buckley & Jeff Buckley...
Bearing in mind that (by all accounts) Tim had no part in his son's upbringing - maybe a good example of inherited talent?

I'm pretty sure I read his mam was classically trained and immersed him in music -
Is that both instruments since September? I'm currently working with a lot of classically trained kids at the mo who are all ultra talented and a lot of them play other instruments to really high standards. Surprising how many have had no training on that instrument whatsoever and have just kind of transferred their skills.A lot of them have very musical parents also and being in that kind of environment must do wonders for their creativity. But then a lot of them have parents who admit they have no musical background either.

Just want to advertise this prog on BBC 4 this friday and the rest in the series made by my dept. here in Cardiff
http://www.bbc.co.uk...rammes/b0177bjb
And they are showing purple rain straight after which is an excellent friday night in! -
spiritualized live at royal albert hall. Absolutely love the dynamics and sounds. Always restores my creative mojo during dark days and the bass playing is solid with some great groove

With all these different bass variations here's to Fender re-releasing the Bass VI!
-
I'd like to think I'd refret if I was in your situation but I was thinking, if you were to take into account how much money the neck could be devalued by and the cost of a refret, could you get a nice substitute neck?
But then again you'll have a vintage neck hanging around collecting dust with no use to anyone apart from it being sold and then it'll just be another old bitsa bass.
just thinking about it gives me a headache! Good luck with whatever you do! -
these guys might be able to point you in the right direction.

I've heard dave dearnley's name been mentioned re: finishing guitars although I don't know if he just builds them these days. (I've played one or two and they were fantastic) -
Hamer basses are completely uncool - never ever met anyone else in the UK with one. Despite the cruise bass (being the first bass) getting a perfect score in Bass Player Mag.
probably something to do with sting having one at some point. Or if it had a fender shaped headstock maybe we'd see loads around.
I had one and sold it to my mate, his band are doing pretty well locally at the mo and may go on to bigger and better things.
(and don't ask him about jesus, he'll only rant at you.) -
I'm gassing for a block and bound neck for my jazz bass. It'd probably be easier buying a mex classic 70's version and just swapping the necks but I'm holding out .
Also a bass VI or equivalent. -

oh dear lord! some beautiful pics up here. if anyone has a block and bound neck for sale keep me in mind!
I'll put some pics up of mine with dodgy block inlay stickers! -

arrgh! I need this bass!
-
arrgh I'd love to bring this bass back to Cardiff but the mortgage has to come first. boo! Is the chequered scratch plate a sticker or printed on to it and is the plate a different shape to fender ones?

First Bass Owned: Fender mex jazz
'Go To' Bass: Fender mex jazz
'Your' Bass: Fender mex jazz
had the same bass for 10 years now. changed the pups and I'm happy. still always looking for something nicer but never found it. -
I am really looking forward to seeing more pics. I was never aware of herbie flowers' bass before and seen some pics... If I could guarantee how much money I was earning for the next year I'd be messaging you right now but alas the world of freelancer has not been too kind at the mo
