Appalled that my license fee was used up by Rhod and some mate driving around in a number of Splitter Vans when they could have fitted into a Fiesta and avoided seemingly crashing into a number of obstacles. Did the voiceover in the Eddie Stobart programmes drive to the Depots in a 40 ton artic?

Excellent budgeting tv wise I thought. Usually you have to pay taxi and train costs for presenters or get them in the car with crew. And skip having to pay camera, sound, director and others to drive to location, stick them all in one van!

2. One I thing I took away from the programme was that I wanted to hear more from all of the acts. And that it's meant to be fun! The voodoo groove boys are a great bunch and spent many a gig watching them. And check out their Fb page where they have basically spent the last day being nice about the other bands. Too often I practice at the local practice rooms and play gigs with other bands and there is an element of suspicion. I don't even get as much as a hello from them.

I'd forgotten that! I got the Give It Away single with a couple of remixes and it was on there IIRC. Still have it buried somewhere..
. It was a two cd single. Remember them? The only chillis single I ever bought. My fave song of theirs. Not listened to anything post californication though

Watched it last night. It fell short for me because a. it was only an hour long (surely a program about concept albums should be a double hour ;) ) and b. for exactly the same reasons we've been discussing on this thread; when is a concept album a concept album.

I agree. You wouldn't believe the stuff that was cut to get to duration!

5. Well this programme goes out on Friday at 10pm on bbc4. Quite a beast to work on- lots of people will be wondering where is so and so etc. I wish there could have been more time to nail down some more interviewees (some declined, many were too busy) and gain access to certain archive. Thanks for everyone's input. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03t1rmn

Another Bridgend here (well Kenfig Hill, but let's not split hairs)...

You're meant to say from in between Bridgend and Porthcawl!

7. thanks both - its pretty new so I guess must be one of the peavey ones.
I've yet to find one sold to be honest even on ebay. there's one on reverb selling for 800 which is what I'd expect at least if I was selling. Its a nice amp and sounds good but I really woudn't want to pay more than £300 for anything. I find I sound pretty much the same on whatever rig. Its got too many bells and whistles for me (ie - I don't understand compressors or graphic eqs!).

8. I was loaned a bass from a friend for the first year I played. an off white/ cream bc rich that looked a bit like duffs from guns n roses. Horrible thing to play but did the job until I saved up for my first bass- a mexican fender wine red jazz bass. its still my number one. A bit like triggers broom though where I've changed the pups, pickguard and bridge.

9. my band were asked to play an oxjam all dayer last year.
alarm bells should have rung when I heard it was in multiple rooms on a sunday. first band over ran (we were second on) so had a stressed out soundman telling us to hurry up before we started!no crowd so we played for 20 mins and went home.
Such a shame.
I'll never do another charity event unless myself or band member is involved with it.

10. Fender 2000 MIM Jazz bass (owned since new)
Laney combo (broken)

I've had a major change in outlook since I had a kid. got rid of the 5'er, fretless and SWR big rig.

At the mo I'm probably averaging 15- 20 gigs a year so cant justify having much gear and also I just dont fancy lugging it around!
I'm of the opinion that I sound pretty much the same regardless of what amp I'm using.
I've not played a gig where the bass isnt going through the PA so just need enough volume on stage. Most of the venues have been offering the use of a bass rig or I borrow off a friend (he borrowed a rig off me for 3 years). I've had the chance to play all manner of amps and cabs the past few years - the best sound on stage and for the audience has been with an old British made Carlsbro combo in a cardiff venue (no idea on model - I think it was a 15inch speaker)
When I can afford something else, I'd like a lightweight cab and one of those small heads a la TC Electronic. always fancied the neatness of the ampeg PF range with the flip top as well.

Didn't Keith Richards play on a few Stones songs? Much to the irritation of the bass player, who's name escapes me

I'm sure I read Keith played bass on sympathy for the devil.

12. Hello, I'm about to start some research in work about concept albums.
In the past I've read mentions of albums here and If you google it lots of them come up and there are whole wiki pages to devoted to them but I'd to see what everyone here would be interested in seeing being mentioned in a tv programme.
I'm trying to put together a diverse range of albums genre and era wise so if you have any thoughts then I'd love to hear from you all

13. I very rarely post but pop on here quite a bit.
Quite often I'll write a reply to something and then delete it before posting!
I was a member on bassworld and posted quite a bit on there. then one day I wasn't online for a litte while .
in that little while basschat was created and bassworld was long gone. .

14. I've got a banjo and love it. had various unplayable ones since being a young child.
Here's me rocking my first banjo.

I'm not very good but enjoy playing every so often. I refuse to play in public and always quote back some Twain
'A gentleman is someone who knows how to play the banjo and doesn't.

I'm a fan of Phillip Roebuck, plays his banjo more like a lead guitar though!

15. I watched a making of rumours doc on fleetwood mac a little while back on the train and was gear watching as you do and saw all manner of boutique basses in the shots of mcvie (alembics etc.) and then the bit of him playing the chain (like in this vid) is on a hamer cruise bass- the same model I had sold the previous day for very little money. if only I had known I could have bumped up the price a bit!
