I gave up with Dr who when the story arcs seemed bigger than the stories. hoping the new one reignites my interest.
Some good box sets on bbc Iplayer at the moment which they are promoting
Loads of louis theroux, tonnes of comedy ( I reccomend man like mobeen and flat tv.)
My fave prog recently has been the secret life of Landfill and the five billion pound super sewer.

thanks for the replies. I managed to actually peel some of the paint by picking it!
will look out for some pure acetone.
It really does need to come off. I dont intend to do much afterwards.
I should add its a chinese gibson copy. I think I'd prefer if it didnt say gibson on the headstock really!
playing wise its really nice, the intonation is good without any adjustment and no bad parts neck wise. I'd always intended buying an epi rivoli or guild starfire but this was just too much of a bargain

The Story of Funk, on the iPlayer. Well worth a watch even if you're not a funkster.
Glad to see this is still being shown. I worked on it. A few people on here hated it but meh. We were so close to interviewing sly ...

Hello. Picked this up today. It's my dream bass bar the finish. Looks like someone has had a go with their airfix painting kit and sander. I have some bio ethanol and some nail polish remover that managed to move some of this paint with some elbow grease but any tips on how to remove it all with a bit of ease would be great. Ideally I'd like to see what it looks like with the original paint and maybe just polish up rather than do a refin at the mo.

thanks everyone for the replies!
Just trying to figure out what to do with it now. its not really weighty or particularly light.

Hello I bought this body about 12 years ago on eBay for not much- it was sold as pine so assumed that's what it was. The intention was to use it to practice on with painted my/ sanding finishing and then eventually turn it into a little table. i found it in my attic the other week and offered it to a carpenter friend to make a something with- he thinks it isn't pine. Anyways what do you think? I'm tempted to think about turning it into some sort of guitar now or perhaps gifting it to someone and then buying it back once they finished !

Thanks Pete. It does. Will take a look

Hello,
anyone found a decent alternative to the line 6 Px-2 supply? Its for my DL-4. I believe the same plug is used for other line 6 items like the bass pod so thought I'd ask here.
The reason I am asking for an alternative plug is that I've had two that have broken on me. neither lasted long and neither were used much either.
I am a little wary of buying a cheap one from amazon so just wondered if anyone had any thoughts?
thanks

Recently some better shops have opened up in the South Wales Area, but before that it was dreadful.
We got a PMT in Cardiff City Centre, and I hear good things about 'A Strings' which is in Pontypridd.
Before that we had the ridiculously overpriced Cranes in Cardiff/Swansea (now closed), and Gamlins is still there in Cardiff, but they're not the most 'interested' bunch really. Also GM Music in Cardiff where you literally cannot swing a cat.
Popped into a strings just after Christmas. They had some nice stock bass wise and quite possibly the best selection of bass strings I've ever seen. Nice bunch as well. Re: cranes, they have a shop in Swansea still which was a shadow of its former self. Not much bass wise and plenty of budget stuff. Lots of super strat pointy stuff but not to my taste. Gamlins can be really hit and miss- if it's the fella who does set ups you are into a winner or the the other younger guy- or the blonde fella- if it's the guy in his late 40s sitting at the computer at the back, you'll be lucky to be acknowledged

A friend of mine has one...no idea what it costs. I think he offsets any costs as a business cost and claims it back in tax.

Scott Whitley has a video of this bass, albeit branded as a Richwood:
He rather likes it, and given that he plays with The Animals I rather trust his judgment. I've never tried one myself so can't really comment further.
thanks for this. probably the closest I'll get to hearing one! I've just been doing some searching online and there appears to be a hutchins chandler model in sea foam green also. maybe named after chas chandler? the revelation seems to have a gibson style bridge compared to the richwood or hutchins though.

I'm regretting not buying one secondhand recently. Tis a shame there isnt an epiphone version.

Hello, just wondering if anyone has tried one of the revelation rbg basses. I've yet to see one in the flesh despite the distributor just being up the road. Slightly offset shape with some big old pickups, Im drawn to it as ive always wanted an epi rivoli or Gibson eb2. .

I like it. if only they did it with matching headstock!

Our cds are registered so that ppl performance royalties go to each individual. We have an agreement that prs and physical sales of it go straight in the kitty for the next recording. If they started shifting or getting loads of airplah I'd like to think we'd split the proceeds between those who funded it

I've been lucky enough to be in the same room as some of those instruments and artists and hear them play through work.
Fascinating to take part in auditions for BBC young musician and hear judges say great things about the entrant but then telling them their 2 grand instrument isn't good enough!
I've played a few Steinway model D's and its amazing the difference between them.
Watching Lang Lang playing in the living room of a renowned piano competition organiser almost blew my ear drums. -
I bought a bass rig off chris. A total bargain and gear all as described. Chris went through the gear well with me and showed the settings. He's gone above and beyond and even sent links to the manuals after the sale. Great communication and a lovely gent. Thank you!

Reading 1999
It always tickles me to see Coldplay's name down there at the very bottom of the list for the second stage. You'll also spot Muse in there, if you've got your magnifying glass available.

That was the last time reading festival didnt sell out I think (unless it hasnt sold out in recent years!)
that was my first festival.
muse were great- I'd seen them 3 months supporting feeder below a band called straw. Matt played all of piano pieces from first album on guitar. not really listened to them much since. -
Hello- I'm after a budget head up £200 max and have seen an eden wtb 400 for sale locally.
anyone tried one or have thoughts? if you think something better would be suited im open for suggestions.
I play in a rock band and generally most gigs have been played with borrowed stuff. my fave sound on stage has been with either a battered carlsbro combo or ampeg cl with 8x10!
I like simplicity with amps - been renting an orange OB-1 in rehearsal rooms but a bit too much at the mo cost wise to justify considering the amount of gigs I do.
Havent got a cab either at the mo but will sort that out later, was thinking a 1 x15 or 2x10 -
I think its an American Traditional Jazz bass.
If i recall, they were Mexican parts but put together in America?
I almost bought one new in 2000 but opted for mex jazz bass as the colour was nicer! -
I dont think I paid much more than £350 new for mine in 2001. I think the Quality control on these were very dependent on who was working that day! I played quite a few and a few others over the years and they all seem so different.
Mine looks like this if you want to check the body. . http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/images/large/099-8008-732.jpg
no idea on why the big routing hole from the control panel to pickup or that silly little hole near the lower horn ? -

anyone know much about these?
Ashdown ABM RC EVO 3 500, Limited Edition
just seen one for sale locally. its a uk made one with limted edition blue face as opposed to the chrome face I guess?
I just want to know before I go any further is there anything to look out for? any fans? is it worth a few quid more for being blue and uk made?
I can see various chrome ones have sold for between £210 upwards and a blue one did appear on bass chat 7 years ago.
this one is apparently mint and shy of 300 quid. I'd like to put in a offer but dont want to offend them if its too low !

I was going to say chris cornell. similar kind of phrasing. reminiscent of cave in as well.
