1. oh cool. thats from our first incarnation, mojo pin. from 1999. thanks!
2. very exciting. i'll support the event any way i can. 'The Faceless Dolls' (my band) will have the final mix of our EP ready in a week or so i can send you that for consideration when its ready.
3. i lived in weston-super-mare and worrked in goold old shepton mallet, for about 8 years, before i moved back to essex. didn't meet one single muso during that time and nearly ended up putting all my gear on ebay.
4. well he clearly makes a reference to bass scales. you say you couldnt play some of the licks that jamerson played on guitar. thats about licks tho, not scales. i've tried looking up the difference between a bass scale and a guitar scale and i couldnt find anything. a scale is a scale then!
5. i thought so. feel free to back me up on you tube. thanks for clearing that up.
6. Hi i'm by no means an expert, but i was surprised to read on the comments below this video saying that there are different scales for basses and guitars? i always thought that a scale was a scale? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljwKdwuCniQ&lc=HHZdqGjK7iyLEn-QXiyiIin6WIl2pzV5LNu5bXKTcqM&feature=inbox so i'm not sure if i'm embarressing myself by being ignorant. i'm franks dad100 (on the comments section) can anybody enlighten me?
7. it might be worth looking at the root cause of the discomfort in your wrists, and thinking about a solution from that point of view. have you discussed it with your doctor? things like carpel tunnel can be treated. they might be able to suggest some physio for you?
8. you play piccolo bass? thats something i've always wanted to try. do you find you have much use for it?
9. Hi Played our first gig of 2012 on friday night. had a great time, and met another really great band - swivelman - who were playing only their 2nd gig. i loved them, very quirky. So we've got two gigs booked in colchester next month, this is the first: Judge and Jury, Colchester. 2nd February. https://www.facebook.com/events/140022699442874/?ref=ts if any other bassists are in the area, feel free to pop by for a pint and a chat. nate
10.
Welcome Emily - Sade came from just up the road to us. edited for grammar!
she went to school in clacton, so i'm told. i went to the college where keith albarn teaches (father of damon). i also hear that cradle of filth are from round these parts.
11. if there is going to be a sub section, surely it should be for people that play guitar and bass?
12. i play guitar too. i write on guitar, and i think i'm a pretty decent player. i think some bands find it a bit weird having a bassist that can play and write a bit. i try and play a bit of both everyday, to keep creative. i really want to push myself with my writing this year. i have a danelctro U2 and a Vox amp (only a valvetronix, but it does sound nice). i have just brought an avid recording studio (a really basic bit of kit, but just what i need) (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/AvidRecordingStudio.html) so i hope it will make it easier to develop my ideas.
