  1. This is real interesting reading...it shows that everyone is different...luckily! any cheap AE210's going Reading the forums, a few years ago Schroeder was all the rage, then Bergantino and now it seems Barefaced is the "in flavour" All good as it drives the market to deliver new/ improved products! Keep it coming as I'm bored senseless in work. MM
  2. I use one of these cabs and a streamliner 600 and it sounds crystal with warmth....... Also for practise I feed tunes thro SL600 into 410L and it sounds great for a bass rig.. Such a BIG sound for a tiny cab.......At 25Kgs its also supa light. I tried a 1212L the other day and its a totally different sound..each to their own!! Sadly i never get the chance to drive mine into the mega vols of 1200WATTS.. this would be the only reason I would part co.....A Roland Microbass would be more than enough for my antics
  3. Probably sounds daft for all you techy heads BUT would it be possible to put my roland TD7 drum kit into my streamliner amp and into my Schroeder 410?? Would this damage amp/ cab?? I'm guessing the sound would not be ideal but its only for practise in my house...... I bet there's a few of you are "rolling around" at this question but it is serious... I'm a drummer of 20yrs so i like to keep my practise up...just do not have any amp for kit.. Any comments, funnies or even pi$$ take is appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!! MM
  4. I'm up for a rendezvous...I know nothing about bass BUT I'll turn up to learn from youse lot! ~I'm right on the Severn Bridge so Brissol OR Cardiff is fine.........Just make sure there's parking in Cardiff as the NCP costs are are crazy.. Ive got some half tidy gear too! Cheers MM

    Wil's feedback

As per all above.......Met Wil today and he is a straight spot sort of guy you can trust! Nearly carted his four legged chum away too - a very nice temperament lab/ staff X. Cheers Wil! Rgds Max
  6. I've got an ashdown eb 12 180watt combo which you can have for 130 delivered......its the best version with mechanical vu meter....really nice nick ....these units give a great variation of sounds...only selling as I've acquired a gb sl600. If interested pm me ....
  7. Great comments, facts feedback from all.........I really don't want to be in the position of different cabs if possible...( Ive gotta a garage full of windsurfing boards - and I only really ever use the one)...We technology geeks like to cater for all situations/ senario's and hence end up with too much gear. Overall the S12 seems to be the overall favourite but the certainly the EAD F1212 seems held in high regard....I was also looking for feedback on the NeoX but I guess they are not so common... I need to consult the christmas funds and see whats left...The wife hammered the card yesterday in Bristol...argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many thx for all your contributions on this thread...its good to see so many voicing their feedback...its really help me and others for sure! MM
  8. Dave, what would you recommend with Streamliner.......I know the epifani UL series 1 seems to work well with SL600
  9. OK so what is the total cost of the S12 delivered please? ( with and without tweeter) Would it not be possible to play the S12 quietly in my house as well as practise/ gig sessions - The physical size is no problem for me as I have space in house and van to move around in? Cheers MM
  10. [quote name='BassBunny' timestamp='1323963842' post='1469267'] +2 for the EAD Foundation212. Awesome Cab. [/quote] Gotta a feel this might be out of my price range!!! looks very classy all the same.. MM
  11. Its great to see such support for a UK manfactured product! Clearly Barefaced seems to be the players choice! The Berg is really pricing itself out of the market, especially as it dosent have Neo drivers so Ive ruled that out. Iam going to listen to a Neo 212 as everybody who owns one seems to Rave about it...At £700 all in its all great VFM. For the the same spec BF S12 you are looking at £750 (and I'm not even sure if that includes the Neo supplement). To S12 owners, what are the carry handles like...Practical?? They look flimsy..... Will listen to the Neo X and make choice from there.. MM
  12. As with most interests, bass world is full of too many choices..... So I have a GB Streamliner 600.....I'm looking for lightweight cab and have heard several 12" cabs so I'm looking at a 2x12.... Here are the choices Ive identified........ GB NeoX 212, best price £700 Bergantino HD212, Best price £850 Barefaced S12 @ £650 All are 4ohm, rated 600W RMS with high sensitivity cones fitted. My rig will used with 4pc covers band doing pubs/ clubs...Type of music is more rock driven. What would you advise based on input above? Being inexperienced another issue is the residual value....I'm a drummer of 20yrs who chopped and changed and finally ended up with a DW kit which is the finest -IMO. So just in case I decide to change which will hold its value best?? MM
  13. Great to meet you Dave.....to all...he is a genuine advocate of bass and really does suffer from OCD....all the same his new car needed a clean
  14. Well I've just bought a jazz bass. mim for 120ukp.....very pleased ...its not pretty but it sounds great...I will invest my $$$ in a good tutor and try to do things correct...I am using a cardiff based tutorwho is highly recommended on this forum. maybe nice amp/cabs will come before getting a new bass. everybody is different...so do what's best for you. agreed with previous posts that going into a shop is intimmidating for a beginner. sod it....just buy a stingray!
  15. I started playing drums RH but being a lefty it didn't work out so I switched to playing left BUT open handed....Eventually after painstaking efforts I learnt left X handed and things have been solid since....... I visited a guitar shop last week having no clue on what bass to choose...The guy tried sticking and RH Fender but it felt wrong....And the left didn't feel much better BUT I stuck with previous experience and stayed with the dark side. On a positive the guy gave me a great deal on a lefty Fender MIM 1995 Jazz so happy days He said it would be stuck in his shop for ages..
  16. [sup]Thanks for all your inputs chaps!![/sup] [sup]The good news is that my brother gave me a set of Sennheiser HD350's on the weekend in exchange for an Alpine stereo.....[/sup] [sup]Not been able to able to try yet as I need the convertor plug......They sit comfortable enough so hopefully the sound will also[/sup] [sup]provide....[/sup] [sup]Will post an update![/sup] [sup]MM[/sup]
  17. Only days into playing my new toy, I've already realised that I will need headphones in order to practise when the kids are in bed. Is there any particular make/ type that I should go for?? Off to Cardiff tommorow and the wife has already realised the need and offered to pay Maybe she will change her mind when my true ability is discovered,,,sadly that maybe a while away!! Cheers guys Max
  18. I had a real good deal on the gear so luckily I have $$ left for DVD......probably bought a fake Cheers Max
  19. Hello Guys and garls, just a quick intro to say hi.... I live near Chepstow ( between Bristol/ Cardiff) and have played drums for nearly 20yrs ( but not since moving out London 8 yrs ago). I have a lovely DW kit that I will never part with - it just inspires playing!! When living in London I did all the usual venues mainly in NL and played in some real good bands and was lucky enough to spend time in real class studios. Anyway time has moved on and kids are now in tow and space is limited....Ive always had a desire to learn bass and so the plunge has been taken.....I picked up a 1996 left handed Fender Jazz (MIM) and an Ashdown EB180 for a fantastic deal...I'm not even sure if a lefty was the right move but as I have zero ability I had to take the plunge as even with encouragement to try in shop, I really was left clueless. The last 24hrs have been spent playing with the knobs .....firstly I'm suprised by variation in sounds....Guitar and amp seem to be real tidy although I will get them checked over... So where do we go???? Well drawing on previous experience lessons are a must to execute the basics properly hence I'm looking for a tutor in the chepstow area...can anyone help/ recommend? I'm also looking for a good DVD to learn from...again recommendations would be very much appreciated!! This forum looks like a real friendly site which is quite refreshing....I look forward to posting lots and meeting you all.. Virtual beers on me!!!!!!!!!! Max
