They did a couple of variations - the other (Y56K) is in the DM at the studio although the actual differences between them other than a few details, I'm yet to discover. 😀 There's some really nice things in them including a lovely multi-tap delay, a reverb plus a few different comps, EQs and limiters too - all are useful, sound great and are easy enough to use plus the setup isn't quite as convoluted as the TC cards in the 02R. The little Mackie CR-X monitors are now in their correct position and sounding lovely. 🔉 I love the pictures, the first two being 'proper rock n roll' pics with gear and all the associated fun stuff but the bottom one is the reality. Absolutely golden! Who are you out with? 😀

Waves Y96K card for the DM2K just before installation earlier today..

I'm sure it's been a busy summer for all and one of change too.. 😬 NHC 24 at Hornimans Garden - this is the view from FOH although my actual job was recording and broadcast with an SD12, a pair of Qubes and my laptop hidden away in a trailer on the left of the pic. It's fair to say the big L'acoustics rig was fantastic. They don't half light up! I've learned alot more about setting up and configuring these consoles this year - they're a great tool. Not my pic this one but TOH looking positively radiant here at Luna Fest in Coimbra, Portugal. My FOH view in Portugal. The fantastic Midas HD96, again in Portugal. Despite the lack of any kind of line or soundcheck plus a quick scrabble round during the first couple of songs, the ball was rolling reasonably quickly. The HD96 is a beastly thing but all the basics are straight forward enough to access and edit - Midas have done very well with these. The second DM2000 is now in service at home - I've moved room so have a bit more space plus it's been a chance to make things a bit more 'useful'.. As a bonus, this DM has had the extended automix memory fitted too. Eventually, I'll fit it with a Waves Y56 / 96K card much like the one at the studio as they're a different 'flavour' of effects compared to the already impressive internal Yamaha ones. I just need to put my speaker brackets up again and re-mount the little Mackies although I may look to upgrade them soon - they're ok but some JBL LSR5 or Yamaha HS5 monitors would be spot on. The 02R bundle is still currently up for sale both here and elsewhere - whilst I've had a few sniffs, nothing solid has happened quite yet. ❤️

We did a few dates on the same bill as Peter Hook earlier in the year - we might actually meet one day, Mike! 🥰

I can't quite believe I'm willing to let this go but I got a serious bargain with another DM2000 which is a lovely upgrade for my home studio.. 😃 This bundle will almost certainly be the best spec'd sale of an 02R and associated items virtually anywhere in the last 5 years or more: 1x Yamaha 02R mixer complete with meterbridge running V2 O/S. 2x Yamaha CD8-AT 8 in / 8 out ADAT cards. 2x TC Electronic Unity cards - the ADAT / TDIF I/O versions. 1x TC Electronic Unity card - no I/O. 2x Yamaha CD8-AD - double height analog 8 in / 8 out on quarter inch jacks. 1x Yamaha CD8-AE AES 8 out / 8 out AES card complete with break out loom from D-Sub 25 to XLR. 1x Original paper manual and other bits of documentation. This unit is an ex-ITV broadcast desk and has been very well cared for throughout it's life - no sticky faders, no yellowed plastics, no missing encoder knobs - about as clean as you're ever likely to find. After it's time with ITV, it passed to an employee who'd used it for a couple of live, surround-sound projects then finally, on to me. I upgraded it to it's current configuration running two Unity cards without sacrificing any I/O as one feeds into the other in extended routing mode so 16 analog in plus 16 ADAT and if you changed the sub group config, you could do another additional 8 analog inputs. Overall you get a 40 input (full processing) digital mixer with 6 (up from 2) effects units, 8 auxes, 8 subgroups, time-code triggered full-feature automation plus a million other features. I'm also prepared to show you how to use the thing, too. ❤️ Please check out my very long running thread on these old things here - this one features heavily: Delivery will be expensive so I'm prepared to deliver it personally - we'll discuss that cost at the time of sale although it'd be ideal if the prospective buyer is willing to collect the package in person.

HSL's good old M32 once again doing a sterling job at Bloodstock. Like most by now, I'm a little bored with the interface and graphics but I can't fault them at all really - they sound great, have more than enough toys to do 95% of jobs and are nearly as reliable as a Yamaha. I also had the pleasure of talking to the lovely PR ladies from Midas which was super - I even got some T-Shirts and a hoodie! 🥰 The ML recieved a bit of love recently, too - I removed the meterbridge and had Kev (K. Edwards Electronics) replace all the bulbs with LEDs. It looks like new! Honestly, I've even convinced myself it sounds better now. 😅 And the classic 02R here working on a live recording from home. The recording in question is a band I work with frequently - Captain Stingray who play afro / dub / world / reggae originals. There's now 9 in the band so quite a channel count and it also marked the first recording to be taken from the M32 at The Rigger. ❤️ I've got NHC coming up again plus some more Kirk Brandon dates in September. I'll lay good money on the statement that not one of the shows will be using an 02R (or even a DM) but hopefully I'll see and use plenty of fun stuff along the way. 👍

Glarry Jazz Bass in gloss black with maple neck, rosewood board and comes complete with a gig-bag - ideal for beginners or those wanting to get back into playing bass. ❤️ I appreciate you can buy a brand new one for roughly what I'm asking here but this one has had quite a bit of love and time thrown at it. This example is now a far better instrument in terms of playability and sound. I've done the following: 1: New Stagg strings 105-45. 2: Action lowered and adjusted to be super playable with next to no buzz. 3: Intonation checked and tweaked. 4: Fretboard oiled. 5: Frets polished. 6: Fret edges smoothed. 7: Electrics squirted with contact cleaner. 8: Adjusted pickup height. It'll come with a new gig bag but also the option of a few cosmetic upgrades which are pictured: 1: 3-ply Shell finish scratchplate. 2: Ash tray bridge cover. 3: Black tug bar. No accessories £65 All accessories £90 The condition is 'as new' and the bass even still has the polythene protection layer on both the control panel and scratch plate - it's virtually flawless. Any interested buyer is welcome to come try it at the studio to put it through it's paces. Don't expect it to be like a vintage Fender but, for the money, I don't believe you could find a better, nicer playing Jazz style bass. Postage will be £25 within the UK or you're welcome to collect for free from Synkronize Music Group in Hanley, Stoke on Trent.

I'll play.. 😃 1: Trace Elliot V-Type - the full-fat all-valve examples.. 2: Trace Elliot SMX - almost certianly the 400w version but the EQ and compressor in the preamp are very special.. 3: Ampeg SVT CL - a lovely sounding and surprisingly flexible tool.. If I was to add a fourth, I'd go with EBS, probably an HD350.

The VM with some favourable filtering - still a super tool. 40th anniversary enoying a session with the recently acquired Trace combo..
-
No 02R on this job, rather an Allen & Heath SQ with a well set up cluster of L'Acoustics ARCS - another enjoyable seesion with Kirk and the boys in Blackpool at the Winter Gardens. Thankfully, we did the Friday night just before Toyah (who was brill) so witnessed nor experienced any of the troubles. ❤️

Oh Mike, that really is so cool! 😬 I've never done a proper mix on a big SSL / fancy outboard although there's still time yet. ❤️ By contrast, as I type this I'm sat next to an X32 that I'll be mixing tonights show on at the S & G in Manchester.. @Owen I didn't know many others visited here either - glad you enjoy it! 👍
-
I love it.. It weighs too much but the sound is truly magnificent - there's a bit of extra EQ (two little graphic pedals) and an Ampeg Opto Comp in the FX loop but the V6 is a fantastic tool..
-
Out in the wild - the V6 & cabs plus the 40th anniversary and VM Squier Jazzes..

Now on eBay.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176471792950?itmmeta=01J2SH027T0JPMG82EMS8XRX10&hash=item291689dd36:g:oLAAAOSwU3tmjpP4&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwKVDhX0hNDT6xW%2Bgo8d6XTGlA7lm2OjjyU9pMjnO5FIKpIRBWYWImTR81vCjikJkTKVGDuNf2qA8QFxVv3Efpa4rjFBmGV7PF5UG3foPbNP62bnBle6ehGa73PG73dueoebEPB09DRWGOYOv3z7nTeCLmHcsJpM%2BaJMH2j7nJYm8CE8aMU%2BZyJbTYV6e8AiT%2Fw2PhSRhNUMm5AQzrU3%2FtFOGMRxnkWbGvpuwvaEbKB8q4ppKnYKwNk8xL9BKufnwvA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR4CkgLGWZA

Trace Elliot AH300-SMX power amp exhibiting odd behaviour..
VTypeV4 replied to VTypeV4's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks for that ^^ @MoonBassAlpha - I'll go through the cable and pull the cab apart again but typically, nothing has misbehaved since. 😬 -
'06 VM after I'd been out with it the other day - it's 'only a Squier' but there's no doubt that this is a 'real' Jazz.. ❤️

Could be my ears ........ but ..... "BRIGHT" PA
VTypeV4 replied to Pirellithecat's topic in PA set up and use
+2 on the DEQ2496 - they're pretty comprehensive and sound pretty good too. ❤️ As for a digital mixer, I'm 100% with @Phil Starr here. it feels like a big step and it is to be fair but, if you take the time to learn the basics and get comfortable with it's operating platform, you'll never look back. I first used a digital console in around 2010 and bought my own just a few years later. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of tablet based mixers but it's not that there's anything wrong with them, I just really prefer some physical / tactile control and actual faders. The Soundcraft UI24 was the last one I used and it had all the usual suspects with dynamics and EQ on all the I/O plus the 4 FX units were pretty serviceable too.. -
At 15 years old back in 1998, I purchased a little Trace Elliot Boxer 30 as it blew everything else I'd tried that day out of the water. It played louder, cleaner and offered a reasonably 'big boy' sound out of a manageable size box. I've had more than a few different brands over the years and they have all been great but I always come back to a Trace of some description - they just work for me. I had a V-Type combo for many years - it was the 4808 which was a slightly later variant with the green furr and four 8 inch Celestion drivers. It was loud, capable and stupid heavy. I loved the sound of it and did many gigs although I eventually sold it to buy an Ashton BV300 plus speakers. I still go backwards and forwards on whether the 4808 or the TwinValve Combo sounded better - both were pretty knockout. On the V-Type subject, the V4 MK2 and and V6 are amongst the finest pieces of bass amplification I've owned and as such, are definitely keepers. I'm in Hanley so not a million miles from Audley - I've probably passed it many times. 👍

I'm very familiar with the SMX but the extra bells and whistles of this later preamp with the Harmonic Emphasis and Variable Valve stage are particularly useful - it sounds killer with the anniversary Jazz. ❤️

I don't think I've ever used a Sennheiser that I didn't like - the 935 / 945 is generally well liked and again, in most situations, just a bit 'nicer' (for want of a far more descriptive term! 🤣) than a stock Shure 58. Hoping the O/P gets it all together and sorted. ❤️ -
Not yet - I'm 41 so hoping I've got a few years left yet. 😬🤣

If you've got an AH500X, It will work in stereo but not if you use the input via the front panel - all GP11 / GP12 have a single, mono instrument input. To do two inputs, you'd have to go in via the individual L/R fx returns but then you'd likely lose all that lovely EQ plus you'd almost certainly need a separate preamp / line amplifier to get enough level to drive the individual power amp sections in the AH500 adequately..
