strings inovation super silvers pickup k&k bass max and an accoustic bottle top on the neck for slap

them strings on ebay are made in india and you can get the same set for 40 pounds the d and g are ok the e and a are like tree trunks decent guts are 300 quid so leave them inovation super silvers will bring your bass alive 72 pounds on ebay lovely tone to each string

i use super silvers on my 1937 kay bit more tention than the slaps they project sound fantastically and feel like guts had a set of these on for two years and they havnt lost any tone the more worn in they get the better they get

you want to try slapping one for two hours we do two hour spots with frantic bass playing and slapping yeh it hurts at first then you build up your muscles and callouses and thats your protection but all great fun

I recently purchased a stentor blonde rockabilly bass for £680 it arrived packed up well and after unpacking we took the metal tailpeice off changed for ebony , then took the ajustable bridge off never liked these rather have full sound of strings going through the bridge. Restrung it with inovation super silvers tuned up and left it a couple of days to settle down E A D sounded ok ish G string buzzed rattled and no end of ajusting and moving the Bridge would shift it . The fingerboards on these are ebonized and have dips and rises like the welsh valleys. The build quality is shockingly bad i thought primavera blondes were a bit shoddy but these are like ply from the builders yard, what is used for smashed windows etc, the varnish was thin in places and thick in others, i would warn anyone who is considering one of these to stay away from them rather use a t chest bass than this, When plugged in with good pickups sounded just as bad no bottom end , so primavera is one of the better ones now in my eyes if you want a nicer tone and a better build try a primavera 50 the problem with internet basses is you cant try them so if this helps anyone with these basses then great im sticking to my 37 kay you would be better finding an old czek or german if you want a cheaper bass and doing it up

cheap basses under a thousand there isnt many good ones about ive just bought one of those stentor blonde rockabilly basses on thonman site they are listed at between 680 to 740 ish when i got it took the metal tailpeice off and the ajustable bridge set it up and boy they sound crap even with inovation strings the fingerboard is ebonized it has dips and highs down the fingerboard and if you skim the board you would have to take the plasticky ebonising off so onto the next project we have picked a primavera 50 up for 480 pounds and this is twice the bass build and tone remembering this is a cheaper bass retailing at 900 ish on ebay but a hell of alot better han these cheap rockabilly bass you cant beat an old german or czeck bass for rockabilly even if they are a bit beat up im sticking with my 37 kay

if you like them strings and i do try inovation super silvers they are even better i wont use anything else except i use a rotosound g string gives a nicer bass sound
