1. Cool, cheers for the info. Think I'll stick the silver grille on then. The problem now is getting it back from John Wood in Nottingham to me in Bristol. Most couriers won't do it as it weighs around 35kg and the few that do won't insure it. I don't currently drive so it looks like I'm gonna have to pay a mate to drive me up there and back
2.
Tokai don't make a Rickenbacker bass copy.
Really? What am I on about then?
3. Don't worry, don't think we're ever going to get to the bottom of it as it's quite awkward to actually check my query.
4. http://leeds.gumtree.com/leeds/67/72158567.html Looks quite new, neckthrough too. Tokai?
5. Again, if you could tell me it's true stereo (the manual doesn't say) then Id buy it.
6. Ooh yea I'll take them off your hands if they're going. Do you mind posting them? Can Paypal or transfer you the costs. Cheers, Joe
7. Nice cabs but they don't seem to sell easily I'm afraid.
8. Also, does anyone know if the first SVT's had black or silver grilles? Mine has a black grille and it doesn't look right. Sure I've seen others from that period with black ones but could be wrong. Mate of mine has given me a 70's silver one to stick on but not sure which is right.
9. Ok, so this is finally ready to courier back to me. John Wood has done a lot of work on it and he reckons it's putting out 350w now! He rewound the power transformer and replaced the output transformer as well as replacing a load of other bits with NOS parts. Can't wait to get it back. He's also confirmed that it's a '69 afterall! He was saying that Ampeg would probably want to buy it back
10. My mate Gareth wants this. Has he gotten in touch through Mr Foxen yet? If not he does definitely want it.
11.
They've just sent me a landscape Compact cover too.....after I specified portrait....slightly annoying, but seeing as I haven't got the cab yet, not too big a deal lol. We'll see how they respond Si
Weird. When I spoke to them he said he'd make sure all future ones were portrait.
12.
Yeah, it has a stereo input and output but i've never tried in stereo myself
Unfortunately, just because it says 'stereo' doesn't mean it is 'true stereo'. For example, my EHX SMMH is 'true stereo' but my Boss RE-20 is stereo but not 'true stereo'. If there was a way of knowing it was definitely 'true stereo' I'd take it. I guess to check it you'd need two TRS cables, two different instruments/sound sources and two amps or a mixer. Bit of a pain really.
13. Yea, I thought that but £450 is fairly cheap for a BIN price and £4500 is still ridiculous. Very odd. If it's £450 I know someone that might be interested actually, should drop the seller an email I reckon. Edit: Yea, the listing has been edited to £450 BIN which is pretty good if it's in as decent working nick as he claims. For those who missed it, it was up at £45,000.
14. Check out this Fender Twin! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1970s-Fender-Pro-Twi...4#ht_500wt_1156
15. Do you know if it's true stereo? If you use two sources to two amps, do they spill into each other?
16. Almost definitely have this off you. Can you get it to do almost completely wet signal/reverb/delay? Any idea if it's true bypass? Cheers.
17. Haha, awww probably I appreciate some silly things have shot up in value over the last few years to a ridiculous degree but I think it's perfectly reasonable that instruments such as these (and other 70's US instruments like Guilds etc) are gradually increasing in value. There have been some silly bargains around over the past few years but people are starting to cotton on, just like with the Japcrap craze which has seemingly gone a bit far now.
18. Ah ok, prob not worth posting then I guess. No worries, cheers anyway.
19. Great basses and as an owner of one I don't see why the prices shouldn't have gone up a bit by now. For a fantastically made 70's american made bass I don't think £500+ is unreasonable at all. Only paid £330ish for mine three years ago Shipped it over from the states.
20. Might be interested in the stage box, interested to see a pic. How much for postage you reckon?
21. No idea I'm afraid. Unlikely to be as good as the 160X/A but I'd go for that over the Alesis or Behringer any day. Should be able to get a used 160 for between £160-£180ish I reckon though.
22.
I was already sort of looking at the DBX 160X, £100 new is a very good price. I've also seen an Alesis 3630 for the same price, I'll look into the TC Electronic C300 as well. Thanks
Can't get a 160X new and it wouldn't be £100 I'm afraid. The 160X is the older discontinued version of the current 160A. I have both and while they're both fantastic, I think the 160X works better on bass. For £100 you're thinking of the 266XL which is a different beast altogether. I have a 166XL and a 163X too. I'd personally steer clear of the Alesis and Behringer models but I'm a bit of an outboard snob
