  1. Simply that. Does anyone on here play pubs but not play the same old tired Classic Rock covers?
Been finding that my usual staple of function gigs has steadily dwindled over the last few years to the point where I'm getting fewer than ten a year and could quite fancy packing them in altogether and just finding a nice local pub band to play for the enjoyment of it rather than having to entertain drunken wedding guests. However, the prospect of having to go and play all the standard rock tunes makes me think I'd probably just rather sell all my gear and pack in altogether! Does anyone play covers that aren't well known at all and still get a favourable response from the audience and get rebooked? Seems to me that, even if you don't play the rock stuff you still have to play well known songs, whatever the style of music you play, and that just bores me. Also, all the other bands that play that style of music play the same tunes!

Conrats. Sometimes you have to put the miles in to get the right gear, and it somehow makes it seem more worthwhile as well.

Have to say it wouldn't have been possible without the benefit of having personal use of the company van and fuel card!

  3. After waiting years for a B1500 to come up for sale and over 700 miles of driving to collect I'm pleased to have these two in my possession. I got the B1500 off Cetera and took his advice to pair it with the Genz Benz NX2-212t. Only problem was finding one as I knew they don't come up often. A quick ad in the wanted section on here proved fruitless so I tried eBay, fully expecting the same result. Couldn't believe my luck that there actually was one for sale so I snagged it quick like. A nice 500 mile round trip to South Wales and it was mine. Looking forward to unleashing them at my next gig in a few weeks time. I'm expecting tone, authority, headroom and then some! Unfortunately not been able to try out at home yet as I lost the only speaker cable I had, so will be ordering a speakon off obbm.

Really interested in this. Nearly bought one, but settled on a genz benz rig, but am looking for a really good second set up. Just a bit worried your moving it on so quick. Is it all working, aux in and head phone and full power ect. let me know thanks Pierre

I sold it to Dunc and can vouch it is all working perfectly. Aux and headphones work and are a very handy feature for practicing. Not many of these about!! Be quick!

Front isn't so bad, either. Watched that vid a few times now!! Tight string spacing is one of the reasons I sought one of these out, so I am pleased he mentioned it. Shame it won't get played with anything like the same finesse once I've got it :)

Did they make a wide neck version? I had a BB5000A back in the day, it was a lovely sounding thing but that tight string spacing was a deal breaker for me.

Great news! I'm glad I was able to help you fulfill your dream! Pics needed when it arrives, obviously.

  8. Went down to see the true gent that is Cetera to pick up this monster last night. Can't wait to fire it up! Been after one for a while and couldn't miss out this time. Just need to get a suitable cab. We both agreed it's a shame Carvin doesn't get more love over here. Every review I've read of the B1500 has been a glowing one, some comparing it to the mighty DB750, for a fraction of the cost. Tone, headroom, authority, presence, volume, it has it all by the bucket!

Thanks again to Gary! Top fella!

So my AZ arrived last week - not had a huge amount of time to play it but first impressions are very good.

Fantastic build quality and the tone is exaclt what I was after - the AZ EQ-M preamp is very powerful and it delivers the typical Marcus Miller slap tone in buckets which is exactly what I was after.

    Pics attached.

The one I fancy is the BB1200s - don't really care about bridge pickups that much :)

I bought a BB1200s for 90 quid in the 80's! Oh how I wish I still had it!
