  1. That's a cracking song ....I must re-tune to 6 Radio from Planet Rock...

I'm getting stuck in that "listening over and over again to your favourite oldies" thing and missing some good stuff.

Last time I listened in I discovered  Lets Eat Grandma and Wolf Alice...I wonder why I stopped...weird!

You bad man! I love your style. That's almost like the tale I would spin to unsuspecting Americans about how haggis were real creatures, had their left legs shorter than their right, and were hunted in the mists that surrounded Scottish mountains.😁

Oh we all know that about haggis.

I have explained this to several South Koreans, when I worked for Kia Motors UK Ltd and Visited Korea.

I have even told a few Ukranians about the short legs on one side of a haggis when i was there in 2004.

Oh. and to some Canarians when I lived in Tenerife.

Am I a conspiracy theorist? ....that would be exciting!

Funnily enough that's one of the few lines I do recognise ,and it's made OF China, not  IN China.

The rest is still Blah de blah de blah though!.

  4. I have  always been like that.

I hear the sound of the lyrics, I hear the melody of the lyrics ,but I often don't know the actual words.

Trying to learn them on the odd occasion I have taken the lead vocal in a band, has always been the hardest thing for me.

  5. Look at it this way.

If you are female and they don't want any females in the band ( and vice versa...I saw an ad recently for a female bassist wanted for an all woman band),, at least you are aware "up front" and don't waste your time applying.

If they go by societies' rules and speak to everyone, they will just not ask you to audition, nobody is any the wiser and you still don't get in the band.

Or worse, give you  an audition and  having spent ages learning the songs, they were just "going through the motions" with no intention of hiring you.

Thing is though, I'm y'know, a busy pope, y'know, and, y'know, if it's all the same, y'know, to the brethren and sistren of, y'know, the DoI, it would make my job a bit more, well, busy trying to, y'know, be in two places at once. Now God, She's really good at that kind of thing, what with being omnipresent 'n all. Just that, y'know, I'm, y'know, not. Omnipresent that is...

Not complaining. Oh dearie me no. Not a bit of it. Perish the thought. Nothing further from, y'know, etc. Just, y'know, something my dear friends in the aforesaid DoI might, y'know, want to take into consideration.

    Y'know?

Shirley, your boss being omnipresent and all that ... she could just let you know where to be and when?

No, you’re right. Number 5 was going to be:

…but I thought better of it. Wouldn’t do to offend on my first day!

I've been riling against bass soloist fret w*nking for years.

You are an experienced Bridgefest attendee, as such you have an understanding of the Bridgey estate's lands.

This new whipper snapper, whom ,granted, seems to have all the required attributes of a good egg  has yet to prove themselves.

I am sure  Bridgey still values you as a ride on mower comrade.

Oh well in that case I’ll despatch a nice yellow sit on right away! Major Blank likes a turn on the old mower so I’ll make sure he’s well fulfilled.

Sorry, that came out all wrong.

Shirley it must have come out as it should if his fulfilment was the goal?

I’m currently experimenting to see: if I contribute five times to this thread will that count? Failing that I’m going to ask:

    (1) Which end do I hold it?

    (2) Which way up does it go?

    (3) Why does it have that thingy in the middle?

    (4) What is the best colour?

    (5) Progressive attenuation in the studio environment, a light discourse on at what point(s) during the epic journey of the alternate compression and rarefaction of air and its conversion into binary data should said attenuation take place: discuss.

No idea about the first four but the last one's a piece of pizz.. you'll never get away with it!

That sounds like an invitation I can’t refuse, haha! Well, technically I can refuse it, or rather, I have to for the present- until I have made five posts, no less! See you there at length!

I didn't know that there was a minimum post count to enter the DOI...

    Intriguing !

Do they have to be of a certain standard? Or can you just ask...

    (1)  Is it good for metal?

    (2) Tone wood ...yes or no?

    (3) P bass or J?

    (4) Pastorius  or Adam Clayton?

    (5) Heft ?

  15. Frank said I have to say hello... I mean ... I might have done anyway but ... who's gonna risk the wrath Mr Blank?

I would avoid the DOI thread if I was you .... you may see a different , erm.. side  to your duo partner.... though you do like dissonance so...   😉

Welcome by the way.. we are all friendly on here really.

  16. All of the above and ME, for just one sweet memorable night!

I could never play anything other than root note wonders when inflicting my singing voice on to the world but...

During the brief period that I was playing 5-6 gigs a week and doing nothing else for a living, I found myself singing like a canary ( albeit one that sounds like a foghorn!), and flailing my fingers up and down the fretboard like some Geddy Lee tribute act.

One memorable night, in The Courtyard Cabaret Bar (true story!) I was dutifully ploughing through a cover of Lyin' Eyes ( takes up 6+ mins ...handy for filling out the set 😉 ) and during "my verse" I found myself thinking about the bass line and how I could change it next time around AND what I could have for supper when I got home!

THREE things all at the same time... I have never been so proud.  😎

Of course I am now back to only being able to play Down Down by Quo whilst warbling backing vocals these days but,  you'll never take my moment of glory away from me.

    :D

P.S.   My absolute favourite is ( sadly was) Burke Shelley.👍
